Dinosaur Park Texas Tour & Dinosaur Identification (HD)
We visited the amazing Dinosaur Park at Cedar Creek/Bastrop Texas in March 2017. It was like a real-life Jurassic Park, but especially a great learning experience as there were so many actual-sized Dinosaur replicas to learn about and identify. This outdoor dinosaur museum even had a fossil dig for kids as well where they can find a Albertosaurus Jaw & a Dinosaur Embryo. Somehow they were also able to get an authentic looking Jeep vehicle from the Jurassic Park movie. Some of the dinosaurs we saw included:
* Guanlong
* Tenontosauraus
* Hypsilophodon
* Spinosaurus
* Therizinosaurus (very funky)
* Dilphosaurus
* Oviraptor
* Ornithomimus
* Postosuchus
* Minmi
* Dilong
* Iguanodon
* Tyrannosaurus (and its nest)
* Kelenken
* Deinosuchus
* Megalania
* Koolasuchus
* Stegosaurus
* Carnotaurus
* Parasaurolophus
* Deinonychus
* Triceratops
* Acrocanthosaurus (large Texas carnivore of the Cretaceous period)
* Dimetrodon
* Coelophysis
* Stegoceras
* Megalodon Jaw Bone (not a dinosaur but a huge prehistoric shark)
* Velociraptor
* Ankylosaurus

Greetings, I’m Craig Smyser with 1835 Realty. Today, I’m southeast of Austin in Cedar Creek but more importantly, I’m back in time. We’re going to explore Dinosaur Park on this episode of Discover Austin.
Dinosaur Park is an outdoor museum filled with over 30 life-sized dinosaurs. Following a forested trail, visitors can experience what it might have been like when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Unlike a typical museum showcasing dinosaur skeletons, Dinosaur Park’s full-size sculptures show the skin and colors. The dinosaur exhibits cross a full range of sizes. The velociraptor is on the smaller side at about two feet tall while the biggest exhibit is the Dip-law-doc-us which is 125-feet long and 20 feet tall. There are, of course, well-known dinosaurs such as the T-Rex and the Triceratops, but there are plenty of new ones to discover for the dinosaur novices among us. Each sculpture has a plaque with all the pertinent information to learn about the dinosaur.
Be sure to grab an I Spy checklist at the beginning of the trail then keep your eyes peeled for some interesting finds.
You aren’t allowed close enough to touch the sculptures, but there are a few Picture Pals along the way so be sure to stop for that Instagram moment.
Opened in 2005, Dinosaur Park is a family-owned and operated business. The family’s 3-year-old son was obsessed with dinosaurs, which turned into an interest for the whole family. Not able to find a museum that was both scientifically accurate and a fun, kid-friendly environment, they set out to make one for themselves. I believe you’ll find that they have absolutely accomplished that.
Kids can have fun digging for fossils in the Dino Dig. There’s also a playground and plenty of space to run around. Feel free to bring a picnic to enjoy. And don’t miss the Jurassic Park vehicles.
Of course, there’s also a gift shop that has a great selection of dinosaur items.
A visit to Dinosaur Park is a lot of fun and educational, too. So come out to discover your favorite dinosaur. I’m Craig Smyser with 1835 Realty. Thanks for joining me for this episode of Discover Austin. And remember, when you are ready to buy or sell real estate in Central Texas, I’m ready to help.

Dinosaur World Glenrose Tx Tour While Camping AT Dinosaur Valley State Park
In Nov of 2017 we spent 2 weeks traveling and exploring all the way down to Big Bend National Park. After 2 weeks and 10 campgrounds we ended up RV camping at Dinosaur Valley State Park. Located just outside of Glen Rose Texas this unique park features tracks from dinosaurs in the riverbed. Just outside of the front gate of the park is a private enterprise called Dinosaur World that really takes the whole dinosaur experience to a whole new level. At Dinosaur World junior archeologist can dig for dino bones, meet life size dinosaurs in a wild setting and even purchase some very cool dino goodies.
