Disneyland Railroad Full Loop at Disneyland Park
The Disneyland Railroad (DRR), formerly known as the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad, is a 3-foot (914 mm) narrow-gauge heritage railroad and attraction in the Disneyland theme park of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, in the United States. Its route is 1.2 miles (1.9 km) long and encircles the majority of the park, with train stations in four different park areas. The rail line, which was constructed by WED Enterprises, operates with two steam locomotives built by WED and three historic steam locomotives originally built by Baldwin Locomotive Works. The ride takes roughly 18 minutes to complete a round trip on its main line when three trains are running, and 20 minutes when four trains are running. On average, three trains are in operation, but anywhere from two to four trains could be in use.
The attraction originated as a concept created by Walt Disney, who drew inspiration from the ridable miniature Carolwood Pacific Railroad built in his backyard. The Disneyland Railroad first opened to the public at Disneyland's grand opening on July 17, 1955. Since that time, multiple alterations have been made to its route, including the addition of two large dioramas in the late 1950s and mid-1960s. Several changes have also been made to its rolling stock, including the conversion of one of its train cars into a parlor car in the mid-1970s, and the switch from diesel oil to biodiesel to fuel its locomotives in the late 2000s.
The railroad has been consistently billed as one of Disneyland's top attractions, requiring a C ticket to ride when A, B, and C tickets were introduced in 1955, a D ticket to ride when those were introduced in 1956, and an E ticket to ride when those were introduced in 1959. The use of E tickets stood until a pay-one-price admission system was introduced in 1982. With an estimated 6.6 million passengers each year, the DRR has become one of the world's most popular steam-powered railroads.

It's a Small World - Disneyland - Anaheim, California - Complete Ride
Embark on the happiest cruise that ever sailed through pastel scenes from around the globe. Hear the angelic voices of cherubic dolls singing a timeless ode to global harmony. it's a small world celebrates a simple, but powerful, idea. If we view the world through the wondrous eyes of a child, we'll all realize how much we have in common, and the world will be at peace. Come join the children's hopeful song.
Sit back, relax and enjoy a nearly 15-minute cruise around the Seven Seaways canal surrounded by bright colors, cheerful music, larger-than-life toys and singing dolls dressed in traditional regional costumes.
Designed by legendary Disney artist Mary Blair, the settings are as spectacular and whimsical as the dolls. Their simplicity and inventiveness recall the wide-eyed creations of a child. The sets are designed to resemble a fantasy world lovingly crafted out of construction paper, ribbon, glitter, buttons, fabric and papier-mâché.
Float past scenes representing:
•The Polar Regions
•The British Isles
•Western Europe
•Eastern Europe
•The Middle East
•Asia
•Africa
•South America
•Under the Sea
•The South Pacific
•The United States
The voyage concludes with a grand finale featuring all of the world's children. Now dressed in white, the children sing and play together as one.
From toy soldiers to ballerinas to vaqueros to Chinese acrobats, you see more than 300 animated dolls representing over 100 regions from around the world. Disney Legend Alice Davis painstakingly researched and designed individual costumes for each doll, inspired by the traditional wardrobe of each culture.
The fun begins before you even board your boat for a trip around the world. The kinetic attraction façade, complete with spinning flowers and whirligigs, features icons depicting famous world buildings.
Tick. Tock. The highlight of the façade is the animated 30-foot-tall clock tower. With much commotion and drama, every 15 minutes the clock tower opens up to display a multinational parade of 24 animated figures. Once the procession ends, 2 toy jesters appear to herald the current time.
Written and composed by the Academy Award® winning team of brothers Richard Sherman and Robert Sherman, the song it's a small world has become one of the most well-known tunes of all time. The infectious melody is sung in the native language of the respective dolls and is orchestrated using instruments indigenous to each region — including Scottish bagpipes, Peruvian reed flutes and Tahitian drums.
Walt Disney originally envisioned using the national anthems for each country. He quickly discovered that while the world may one day sing in perfect harmony, our national anthems will always be sung to different tunes. Walt asked the Sherman Brothers to write a single song to avoid a musical cacophony.
Personally supervised by Walt Disney, it's a small world was created for the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair in honor of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
Attracting more than 10 million visitors, it's a small world was such a smash hit that when the World's Fair ended, Walt had it shipped piece-by-piece to Disneyland Park, where it reopened on May 28, 1966. The rededication ceremony featured children from around the world pouring water from their native land into the Seven Seaways.
Some familiar new faces debuted on February 6, 2009 with the addition of dolls representing select Disney and Disney·Pixar characters, along with the colorful new Spirit of America scene.
Due to its immense popularity, it's a small world has been replicated in every Disney Resort around the world.
When the holidays near, it's a small world is transformed into it's a small world Holiday. During this special time of year, the classic it's a small world song is mingled with traditional holiday tunes, regional holiday decorations brighten up the ride, and thousands of festive lights adorn the attraction façade. It's worth a trip to Disneyland Park just to see the dramatic difference!
Disneyland Train Ride (Grand Circle Tour)
The Disneyland Railroad (DLRR), originally the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad (SF & DLRR), is a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge railroad at Disneyland, Anaheim, California, United States, that was inaugurated on the park's live television preview on July 17, 1955. This live steam railway was constructed for $240,000; the two original locomotives cost $40,000 each. Riders use it as transportation to other areas of the park or simply for the experience of the Grand Circle Tour. The Main Street railroad station is situated at the entrance of Disneyland.
The 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge track (North America's most common narrow gauge) is laid in a continuous circuit around the park. (The park's publicly accessible areas were extended beyond the track's perimeter with the construction of Critter Country and Mickey's Toontown.) The line features several bridges, grade crossings, including one for parade floats east of It's a Small World which doubles as access to the service track, yard and roundhouse for locomotive and train storage and maintenance, located backstage beneath the monorail roundhouse. The line previously featured automatic block signals, but they are no longer in use. The service road is protected by two miniature wigwag crossing signals. The Santa Fe Railway offered the use of full-scale crossing signals, but Disney declined as they would be out of scale with the trains. These scaled-down replicas were designed and built by the Santa Fe Railway San Bernardino shops as a gift to Disneyland. They operate with automotive windshield wiper motors.
The construction of New Orleans Square in the mid-'60s required the tracks to be expanded outwards in the southwest quarter of the park. The open-air stretches of track on both sides of Frontierland Station became enclosed by a tunnel over Pirates of the Caribbean to the east and a tunnel through the berm behind the Haunted Mansion facade. Additionally, the trains originally ran behind Casey Jr. Circus Train, but the track was rerouted in order to make more space inside the park. The DLRR was in near-continuous operation since the park's 1955 opening day until December 2004 when the system was shut down for reballasting, regauging and new block signals as part of Disneyland's fiftieth anniversary celebration. The attraction reopened on March 17, 2005. While often claimed to be the longest closure of the railroad in Park history, the line was actually down for over a year during the construction of Splash Mountain in the late 1980s.
Now, with four station stops, the train takes twenty minutes to circle the park.Disney Imagineering once considered replacing most of Adventureland with an Indiana Jones-themed section, leaving only Jungle Cruise from the original section. One website describes how plans would have seen the Disneyland Railroad that circumscribed the park would have chugged across a groaning wooden bridge through the complex on its round-trip circuit around the park.
