Kladovo-Donji Milanovac-Golubac (NP Đerdap)
Road passing through Ðerdapska klisura (Iron Gate) is one of the most beautiful roads in Europe. Full section passes through national park, following canyon of the Danube river. There are several interesting spots such as Ðerdap dams, archaeological site Lepenski Vir, medieval Golubac Fortess combined with many breathtaking sights of Danube canyon.
Starting point is at the exit of city Kladovo, just before Ðerdap dams, and finishing point is at the Golubac Fortress. Whole section is 112 km long.

Lepenski Vir (Lepen Whirl) is important Mesolithic archaeological site located in Serbia on the Danube river. It consists of one large settlement with around ten satellite villages. The evidence suggests the first human presence in the area around 7000 BC with the culture reaching its peak between 5300 BC and 4800 BC. Numerous sculptures and peculiar architecture are testimony to a rich social and religious life led by the inhabitants and the high cultural level of these early Europeans.
Lepenski Vir is located on the banks of the Danube in eastern Serbia, within the Iron Gates gorge, near Donji Milanovac (Đerdap National Park).

Nacionalni park Đerdap, na oko 64.000 hektara, je najveći nacionalni park u Srbiji. Dužine je oko 100 kilometara, od Golupca do Karataša, duž desne obale Dunava. Spent my birthday weekend in Majdanpek and Donji Milanovac. They are Vlach towns in the eastern part of Serbia. Donji Milanovac is home to Lepenski Vir, site of 9,000 year old civilization! It's also home to Djerdap National Park. Donji Milanovac has about 500 people and sits right on the banks of the Danube.

Donji Milanovac is a Serbian town with a very special history and a beautiful setting, in the midst of the Djerdap national park, the largest and maybe the most beautiful of the five national parks in Serbia. At the point where it flows through the Djerdap gorge (the Iron Gate as it is called abroad), the river Danube is the narrowest and the deepest. In some parts, the gorge rises up to 300 meters high above the river.
