10 Things to do in Valencia, Spain Travel Guide

We felt this was one of the most liveable cities in terms of great local cuisine, markets geared more towards locals than tourists and plenty of green spaces to explore. Our visit Valencia travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to Valenciana cuisine and Spanish food, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting cathedrals, pizzerias, the old town, quirky neighborhoods and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical València tourism brochure, Valencia itinerary or Valencia, Spain city tour also known as València España.
10 Things to do in Valencia, Spain Travel Guide Video Transcript: (València)
Continuing our travels through Spain, our next stop was Valencia.
Located along the coast, Spain’s third-largest city is renowned for its mild climate, futuristic constructions and paella.
We’ll spent most of our time in Valencia was mostly spent eating, but when we weren’t restaurant hopping or snacking our way through markets, we were exploring the city on foot and the destination quickly rose to the top.
In this Valencia travel guide we’re going to take you guys on a tour of the city and show you some of the things you can do on your visit.
After lunch we were ready to go sightseeing around Valencia. Our first stop: the Silk Exchange.
We went on a walk around the Old Quarter without much of a plan in mind. We saw some street art browsed through a few shops, and randomly stumbled across the narrowest building in Europe - that’s the terracotta.
Since the tower was closed, we decided to stop by Horchateria Santa Catalina to try a drink that you either love or hate: horchata.
This cold milky-looking drink is made with chufas, better known as tiger nuts in English.
Our next attraction was Valencia Cathedral, which is home to a Holy Chalice that has been defended as the true Holy Grail.
If there’s one dish that we had to try in Valencia, it was paella. Many non-Spaniards view paella as Spain's national dish, but Spaniards will tell you this is a regional Valencian dish.
The City of Arts and Sciences, is a cultural and architectural complex that looks quite spacey and futuristic.
The complex itself is made up of various structures including a domed-glass garden that’s filled with palm trees, the planetarium, an interactive science museum, an aquarium, an opera house, and a plaza designed to hold concerts and sporting events and Turia Park.
But paella wasn’t all we had at the restaurant. We also ordered fideuá.
We had a food adventure in Valencia’s Central Market. Although this is primarily a place to buy your fresh fish, vegetables, meat, and fruit, you can also find some stands that sell smaller snacks and traditional Spanish dishes.
To wrap up our trip to Valencia, we’ll leave you with a few nighttime shots of the city washed aglow. We hope you enjoyed this Valencia travel guide and that it gave you a few ideas of things to do around the city.
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

Low Season Valencia - December 2018
This is my experience of travelling to Valencia during the low season. The best time to visit for Low Season Travellers is Nov-Mar but beware of the Las Fallas festival in March which brings peak prices to the city (but it looks awesome to be fair!)
It's my first destination video for Low Season Traveller so every like, share and comment is appreciated enormously!
Check out lowseasontraveller.com to see our blog on Valencia and we also have a podcast called Low Season Traveller Insider Guides which also features Valencia. New destinations will be featured each week.

I flew down to Spain in December for 2 weeks to hang out with my friend Greg and his girlfriend Nellie. At the end of my trip we took a train to Valencia and spent a weekend there exploring all the things to do in Valencia and based ourself in a stylish Apartment we rented via AirBnB.
After renting bikes we cycled into the old town and visited the Mercado Central, the Cathedral of Valencia and enjoyed a long ride down the Jardin del Turia to the port and the wide beach. Of course we couldn’t miss out on the typical Paella accompanied by a cold beer.
We finished of our stay with a visit to the City of Arts and Sciences, a futuristic complex full of interesting architecture - the perfect spot to photograph the sunset!
As always feel free to leave more recommendations in the comment section below for future visitors of Valencia and the Costa Blanca (though Valencia is not part of the Costa Blanca)!

THE HIDDEN GEM OF SPAIN | EXPLORING VALENCIA
THE HIDDEN GEM OF SPAIN | EXPLORING VALENCIA
Exploring a new city is always fun, especially when you have never even thought of visiting the place before.
That's one of the cool things about travel, you often find yourself in a strange place, with no plans or an idea of what you are going to see and do...and they end up being epic trips!
Day 2 and 3 of my recent trip to Valencia was just like that. After exploring the old city and hanging out in the science park I realised just how epic of a city Valencia is! I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a short city break that wants a beach nearby and an affordable getaway.
Public transport is good, food and drink was outstanding and all in all it's a great place to visit! Valencia really is a hidden gem of Spain!

15 Best Things to Do in Valencia (Spain)
1. City of the Arts and Sciences
Valencia has many of the things that attracts tourists to Spain, all in one place: The city has a vibrant old centre, with a knot of little streets and splendid medieval buildings like the UNESCO-listed Lonja de la Seda.
Tip – Get the Valencia Tourist Card for free entrance to public museums, several discounts & free public transport
Valencia is also right on the Mediterranean, so you can laze on broad sandy beaches and tuck into delectable cuisine that draws on the sea. This is the home of paella, surely the most famous Spanish dish of all. There are also ultra-modern visitor attractions at the City of the Arts and Sciences, and it all goes to make Valencua one of Spain’s most complete destinations.
Let’s explore the best things to do in Valencia:
1. City of the Arts and Sciences
City of the Arts and Sciences
Source: flickr
City of the Arts and Sciences
It can be difficult to wrap your head around the City of the Arts and Sciences. The attraction is a staggering ensemble of ultra-modern structures that are given an ethereal quality by the reflecting pools that surround them.
The whole thing was started in the mid-90s and the finishing touches were made in 2005. Within these gargantuan buildings are cultural venues and first-class family attractions like L’Hemisfèric, a planetarium and IMAX Cinema, or the breathtaking L’Umbracle, a botanical collection of plant species native to Valencia. Book ahead to avoid queues.
2. Oceanogràfic
The star of the City of the Arts and Sciences is this cutting-edge oceanarium that opened in 2003. With 45,000 individual animals from 500 different species, you won’t find another attraction on this scale in Europe.
3. La Lonja de la Seda
This majestic late-15th-century building is a UNESCO site and held as the masterpiece of Valencian gothic architecture. La Lonja de la Seda is the finest a monument to Valencia’s golden age, when the city was one of Europe’s main centres for trade and culture.
4. Valencia Cathedral
The city’s solemn gothic cathedral dates to the 13th and 14th centuries, with renaissance, baroque and neoclassical modifications made over the next few hundred years. Go inside to see 15th-century renaissance paintings by artists such as the Valencian, Jacomart as well as several from Rome commissioned by Pope Alexander VI.
5. Jardín del Turia
This astounding park brings you fresh air and relaxation right in the middle of the city. It came about in the 20th century after the River Turia burst its banks in 1957 causing great damage to the city.
6. Casco Histórico
7. Barrio del Carmen
8. El Saler Beach

16 Best places to visit in Valencia in 2019
#Valencia is absolutely stunning. A gorgeous city that combines the old, the new and everything we like the most : the sun, the beach and the good food.
Looking at a map of Valencia, you realize that everything is organized and easy to plan. You have the old city area, the central part of the city, then a green line of about 9 kilometers, cutting Valencia in two - the former Turia riverbed, now transformed in a park, the new part of the city includes the city of arts and science, beach and harbor.
And If you have any questions please comment below and we will gladly answer.
