Alameda, California
Alameda is a city in Alameda County, California. It is located on Alameda Island and Bay Farm Island, and is adjacent to and south of Oakland and east of San Francisco across the San Francisco Bay. Bay Farm Island, a portion of which is also known as Harbor Bay Isle, is not actually an island, and is part of the mainland adjacent to the Oakland International Airport. The city's population was 79,277 in 2016.
The island Alameda occupies what was originally a peninsula connected to Oakland. Much of it was low-lying and marshy, but on higher ground than the peninsula and adjacent parts of what is now downtown Oakland were home to one of the largest coastal oak forests in the world. The area was therefore called Encinal, Spanish for forest of evergreen oak.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 23 square miles of which 10.6 square miles is land and 12.3 square miles is water.
Although Alameda's nickname is The Island City (or simply the island), the current city occupies two islands as well as a small section of the mainland.

Bike Oakland & Alameda: The Bridges of Alameda
2016-07-29: Commute home from Uptown Oakland to Maxwell Park via Broadway, 19th St, Telegraph Ave, and Broadway down to Jack London Square to ride along the waterfront on the San Francisco Bay Trail, over the Posey tube since they're doing construction on the nasty narrow bike path there. But the Embarcadero bridge over the Lake Merritt channel is closed, so back around Embarcadero West to Oak St and 8th St over the channel, down 5th Ave to the Embarcadero all the way to Kennedy St & 23rd Ave to the first bridge to Alameda: The Park Street Bridge.
But not staying in Alameda for long, Clement St and Tilden Way take us back over to Oakland at the Fruitvale Bridge.
Then along the bike path to head on back in Alameda on the High Street Bridge.
A quick left here to get onto Fernside Blvd which takes us directly (too directly, gotta get off to the bike path) to the last bridge of Alameda: The Bay Farm Island Bicycle Bridge. This is the only drawbridge exclusively for bicycles and pedestrians in the United States.
Then we're back to park paths, Doolittle Dr., park paths, Doolittle Dr, park paths, and up 66th Ave and Havenscourt Blvd to Bancroft Ave and 55th Ave on home.
Route posted as The Bridges of Alameda here:

ONE BAY AREA: Alameda County, Dublin, California. ANGRY citizens face-off against local Government
In April and May of 2011 One Bay Area had hosted public input meetings and an additional set of in January 2012 to showcase their vision and to solicit public feedback. This is one of those meetings.

1:39:13 Doug Buckwald
1:45:16 Heather Gass
1:47:58 Steve Finacom
2:18:35 Scott Haggerty
Lead by Heather Gass, concerned citizens were irate with this proposed plan and the unfair and manipulative manor in which the meetings are conducted - known as the Delphi Technique.
Agenda 21 is the Master Plan put forth by the United Nations in 1992 and adopted by President Bill Clinton. Agenda 21 is a green initiative which targets cars and people living outside from cities who must commute. Their goal is to develop large, congested city centers for people to reside, and provide mass transit for the city dwellers to commute to work. It also targets large parcels of land in the world, including the United States, to be redistricted to open space land, thereby making it undevelopable.
Agenda 21 was readily adopted in California by liberal politicians, specifically in the San Francisco Bay Area, under the name Plan Bay Area. Plan Bay Area's goal is to develop large congested downtown metro areas, with shops, stores, theaters, and mass high rise housing. They aim to get people out of their private suburban residences and cars, and warehouse them in these large metro areas. These areas will also house California's large illegal immigrant population.

The Early History of the Oakland-Alameda Arena and Coliseum
The Oakland-Alameda County Arena and Coliseum Complex turned 50 years old in 2016. The arena is currently the oldest stadium to host NBA games, and the coliseum is one of the oldest multi purpose stadiums in the United states. With the Warriors moving to San Francisco, the Raiders moving to Las Vegas, and a newly proposed A’s stadium at Howard Terminal; the site’s expiration date is only a matter of time, money, and politics. I created this short video to highlight the sports complex, as well as the first teams that played there. This video does not go in depth with team history, and it does not go past the 1970’s, so I encourage to learn more if this subjects interests you. I hope you enjoy watching. This is the early history of the Oakland Alameda County arena and coliseum.
Before the sports complex was built, there were no major league sports teams in oakland. There were regional teams, such as the Pacific Coast League’s Oakland Oaks baseball team who played in Oakland and Emeryville from 1903 to 1955. Getting major league teams in Oakland meant building real stadiums, and throughout the 1950’s and early 1960’s, there was a movement to do just that.
The first architectural plans were released in November of 1960, and the following month a site was chosen, west of the elmhurst district of east Oakland, alongside the then recently completed 880 nimitz freeway. A downtown site next to Lake Merritt and the Oakland Auditorium was originally considered.
The Port of Oakland played a key role in the East Oakland site selection. The Port traded land with the East Bay Regional Park District, in exchange for land which the Port then donated to the city of Oakland, as the site for the sports complex. After 25 million dollars in private financing was arranged, construction began in 1962. Plans were drawn for a stadium, an arena, and an exhibition hall in between them. For a brief time, auto racing in the parking lot was also considered as a possibility. During construction, a pair of mammoth tusks were found 28 ft below the ground. Construction was finished in fall of 1966.
The coliseum features an underground design, where the playing surface is actually 21ft below sea level. Fans entering the stadium, walk onto the main concourse at the top of the first level of seats. This combined with the hill that was built around the stadium to create the upper concourse, means that only the third deck is visible from outside the park. This gives the coliseum the illusion of being a short stadium from the outside.
