Agistri is only 55 minutes from Piraeus and at a stone's throw from the island of Aegina. It is a small heaven on earth situated at the Saronic Gulf, smothered in plants and trees, with pine trees touching its crystal blue waters. The island's four communities (Megalochori - Skala - Limenaria - Metochi) are ideal for wonderful summer holidays and for relaxing, calm weekends.
In Agistri you will come across verdurous pine woods, sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, traditional colors, quietude, peacefulness and yet an intense nightlife according to the visitor's preference.
The general image with this island presents is completely different to the one presented by other islands which are overwhelmed with mass tourism. Perhaps is one of the last few romantic destinations in Greece.
Agistri has many beautiful hotels and studios or rooms to let, ideal for family holidays. Gradually it also attracted many artists who draw inspiration from this island. Ferry boats from Piraeus dock at Skala and flying dolphins at Megalochori, whereas both ports are linked to Aegina all year round. At Skala there are numerous hotels and tavernas. Megalochori, also known as Mylos, is situated to the west of Skala and is the Administrative capital of the island.
Entertainment includes many activities, various bars and clubs, where you can enjoy yourselves until the morning.
Agistri is a small green island of the Saronic Gulf with amazing water. Walk around the island and discover the hidden coves and small pebbled Agistri beaches. Megalochori and Skala are the most popular and organized beaches in Agistri, while Aponissos and Dragonera are famous for their natural beauty. You will find below a list with the best beaches in Agistri island.
Chalikiada beach: Further on a narrow path, through a dream-like walk in the pine woods, we reach -500m. after- a natural emerald bay, with big pebbles and crystal clear waters; the enchanting Chalkiada.
Access needs caution since it is only accessible on foot. The waters initially are shallow but 5m. further down they become deep.
Aponissos beach: West of Limenaria, we reach an exotic area, where the pine trees embrace the beach of Aponissos.
The unique combination of colors reminds you of exotic places, offering you a unique relaxation and calmness.
The tavern located there may offer you exquisite sea food snacks with ouzo, right next to the breaking waves.
THE BEACH OF DRAGONERA
The coastal road after Megalochori turns south and passes parallel to the beach, at a distance from it.It crosses a dense forest and come across beautiful moorings with emerald waters. The journey is captivating and combines in utter harmony the pine tree green with the deep blue of the sea. Roughly in the middle of this journey, through a detour, the road takes us to the picturesque, sandy beach of Dragonera. The beach consists of Small and Big Dragonera.
A pebbled beach with deck chais and umbrellas, and sea sports, crystal-clear, shallow waters and pine trees reaching out to the sea.
Big Dragonera has a canteen where you can get coffee, refreshments, ice creams etc.
THE BEACH OF SKLIRI
To the left of Skala, following the coastal road to the northeast, we reach the rocky beach of Skliri. Skliri is a newly-built tourist area with modern hotels and restaurants, built amphitheatrically, within pine woods, with a wonderfull view to the Saronic Gulf, Aegina and crystal clear, emerald waters.
At Skliri location and at a very beautiful place there is Hook Club, where there is an organized beach, cafe snack bar with food, club for your night life and studios with amazing view to the Argosaronic gulf.
THE BEACH OF MAREZA
The picturesque small port of Mareza is 200m. from Limenaria and is a sample of the beauty and magic that this location has to offer.
Mareza is a rocky beach, smothered in green, with deep, crysta-clear waters. Access is easy and by all means of transportation.
At Skala, with its imposing, white-washed Church of Agioi Anargiroi, there is a large sandy beach, with golden sand and crystal clea, shallow waters. Most people gather at its beach with various amenities and facilities, just 100m. off the port and especially families since the sea is shallow and it is ideal for children.
At the restaurants and fish-taverns you may taste and enjoy a great variety of appetizers and snacks, oven-cooked food, grilled meat, fresh fish and sea-food from the island's fishermen, accompanied with chilled wine. For your entertainment there are cafes-snack bars and clubs operating at all times, from morning until... the next morning.
Megalochori has two beaches with light blue crystal waters in natural coves that create sandy and pebbled areas.
For those who love hiking, there are amazing routes that the visitors can explore and get to know in the amazing and ever green natural environment of the island of Agistri.

Dragonera Island Boat Tour - Mallorca Majorca
Dragonera Island Boat Tour - Mallorca Majorca. This was a trip we'd booked from one of the tour sellers in Santa Ponsa. It was 5 hour boat tour which included a 1 hour stop at Dragonera Island, food and a swim stop. Our group met up at the Santa Ponsa pick up point for the 10:30 departure before heading off to Paguera to pick up more guests.
The coastline was very impressive and we were given info on each location via the tannoy as we passed. The food was impressive, probably the best paella I've had in many years washed down with the complimentary Sangria.
I didn't opt for the swim during the swim stop after hearing how cold the water was. This was early May after all. Nevertheless it was good to see others having fun splashing around. I preferred the underwater viewing area beneath the boat to watch the fish go by.
Dragonera Island itself was quite spectacular. The whole island is uninhabited apart from the thousands of wall lizards. They were literally everywhere so I got plenty of good footage. I just wish the stop was for more than 1 hour as the time flew by and we were soon heading back to Santa Ponsa.
I'd definitely recommend a trip to Dragonera Island, Mallorca.
