First Shark of the Trip - Eagle Bluff Shark Bay Western Australia

Osman finally gets his first shark of the trip. We hooked on a couple of times before, but they kept snapping the line. Finally with the right fresh bait and some perseverance, we caught one! This was the first of 5 we caught and many we lost over the next two days. Only problem was, too many sharks feeding close to the shore, so no chance for any other big fish, plenty of bream, grouper, flatheads and pike though. A great 2 day trip.

These videos and website started off in the early nineties as markers and scribblings on a giant map of Australia on my games room wall of all the best places in Australia to go and camp, fish and four wheel drive. After many years of practical research as well as reading four wheel drive magazines and watching every camping, fishing and four wheel driving TV show (it’s been a harrowing and arduous task); I recently realised that come the time my wife and I can leave the kids behind and head off on a trip longer than a school holiday break; I’m either going to need a bloody big plastic sleeve to put the map in, or I’m going to have to drag myself kicking and screaming into the 21st century………
Though I haven’t been to every campground in Australia to video each one yet, I have done many in Western Australia and will continue until such time as I can do it full time and spend the rest of my life travelling the rest of Australia camping and videoing every campsite! It might take a while so bear with me…...

La route est longue pour y parvenir mais avec du beau temps et en fonction de la marée, on peut réussir à voir des dauphins, des requins et des tortues.
La vue est extraordinaire. La route est accessible aux voitures simples mais c'est mieux en 4x4 ;)

Hamelin Pool Stromatolites - short film of the 'living fossils' living in Shark Bay W Australia

Short film of the stromatolites found in Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve; part of Shark Bay in Western Australia. Stromatolites are rock-like structures built by living cyanobacteria. The cyanobacteria living in Hamelin Pool are direct descendants of the oldest form of photosynthetic life on earth. Admittedly (to our eyes) they don't do very much...but they are rather charming nonetheless and pretty amazing when you consider what they represent.
