Waterloo Region Historical Interactive Map
This video shows the key functionalities of the Waterloo Region Historical Interactive Map developed by the Geospatial Centre at the University of Waterloo Library. The mapping application, built on Google Earth API, provides anyone with online access to view the Library's historical map collection without having to visit the Centre in person. Currently 21 historical maps of the Region Municipality of Waterloo are available, from the early 1800s to the mid-1920s.

Mermaids are mythical creatures that have had a major presence in our society for quite some time. Little girls dream of becoming mermaids. Well, actually, there are adults who dream about becoming mermaids too! From story books to movies, mermaids are half human from the waist up and half-fish from the waist down. Throughout history, there have been sightings of mermaids in personal journals of sailors and voyagers like Christopher Columbus. But today, it is believed that Columbus may have actually been looking at manatees, not mermaids. Either way, it doesn’t diminish the fact that we, as a society, care deeply about mermaids and want them to be real so badly! While we still wait for that first emergence, people have created life-size replicas and even faux documentaries of mermaids that have convinced us that they are real. There are also cases of real people sitting on rocks in mermaid costumes, like the Active Pass mermaid in British Columbia, Victoria, Canada. When enough people are involved in the hoax, almost anything is possible.
In this video, we will introduce to you some stories of mermaids that have been caught on camera and spotted in real life. Thanks to Animal Planet’s Mermaids: The Body Found, people thought mermaids actually existed. But in reality, the network used creative CGI and amazing special effects to make it look all the more convincing. There are more hoaxes where that came from, so get ready! If anything, these stories prove just how gullible we still are as a society.

Tyrannosaurs Time-lapse Photography at Waterloo Region Museum
Time-lapse photography of the Tyrannosaurs - Meet The Family exhibit being put together at the Waterloo Region Museum in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. This stop-motion video features footage of the largest T-Rex in the exhibit being set up. The bones this skeleton (nicknamed Scotty) were cast from... were found in Saskatchewan, Canada... so Scotty has come home so to speak.
Tyrannosaurs – Meet The Family is on exhibit at the Waterloo Region Museum from February 3 to April 30, 2017. The exhibit is an innovative, hands-on immersive experience that allows visitors to come face-to-face with life-sized dinosaur skeletons. This is the first time this exhibit has visited North America!
This exhibit was developed by the Australian Museum and is toured internationally by Flying Fish.

In this video, professor Neal Ferris explains what the students in the Anthropology 3396A – Site Management and Service course are working on at the Lawson site, located at the Ontario Museum of Archeology in London, Ontario.
This course focuses on non-invasive techniques, and how to restore a site explored by many previous archeologists and anthropology students. The Lawson site is a Late Woodland Site and was inhabited around 1,500 AD by ancestors of Iroquoian-speaking peoples. Up to 1,000 people may have lived in the village at a time and there were upwards of 30 long-house structures in the village.

Waterloo Region Museum
Michael Reddekopp and I visit the Waterloo Region Museum off of Homer Watson Blvd. on Huron Rd. in Kitchener Ontario. We got a chance to explore the fascinating museum filled with the history of the tri-city area (Cambridge, Kitchener & Waterloo), cultures and nature. A big surprise exhibit that strolled right into the museum took us to a different place where trapeze acts, tightrope walkers, clowns, etc. call home.
The Saint John Museum, New Brunswick
Exhibits include a full sized whale and a mastodon. During your visit, you can hike a geological our changing earth trail back through time in the Natural Sciences Gallery, where the geology and paleontology collections number about 50,000 specimens, or whale watch in the Hall of the Great Whales. In the History Galleries, you can follow the river route, admire the great sailing ships of the past, and experience life in a lumber camp.

Game Changer: Knowledge Integration at the Ontario Science Centre
Students in the Knowledge Integration 4th-year Real World Problem Solving elective course (INTEG 475) have been invited to design an exhibit for the !dea Gallery at the Ontario Science Centre.
The Game Changer exhibit, inspired by citizen science, opens on April 20, and will be on display until September 29, 2013.
Game Changer is a look at the ways that games can change the world and our lives for the better. The exhibit looks at citizen science games, which are created by researchers in order to accomplish certain tasks that humans are good at, and computers aren't such as identifying pictures of galaxies or figuring out how proteins fold. It also looks at how games can teach us real-life skills such as problem-solving, and how we can use parts of games to make boring stuff like chores or recycling more interesting.
