Travel to United States: Point Reyes National Seashore
Point Reyes National Seashore is a 71,028-acre (287.44 km2) park preserve located on the Point Reyes Peninsula in Marin County, California. As a national seashore, it is maintained by the US National Park Service as an important nature preserve. Some existing agricultural uses are allowed to continue within the park. Clem Miller, a US Congressman from Marin County wrote and introduced the bill for the establishment of Point Reyes National Seashore in 1962 to protect the peninsula from development which was proposed at the time for the slopes above Drake's Bay. All of the park's beaches were listed as the cleanest in the state in 2010.

Earthquake Trail
Starting on the Hilo side of the Volcano House resort, Elaine and I enjoyed panoramic views of the smoldering Kīlauea Caldera on a short 1 mile paved road, now closed to vehicles in 1983 after severe damage from a 6.7 magnitude earthquake.
Along the way we saw large earth cracks, a variety of native plants, steaming ferns and heard many beautiful bird songs.

Kids Travel Channel @ Point Reyes National Seashore
Kids Travel Channel went to see the famous Point Reyes Lighthouse. Our family enjoyed the short hike and of course, the amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. We even saw a few whales! We weren't able to document it because they surfaced and vanished so quickly. Nevertheless, hope you'll enjoy our video!

Beach Waterfall Alamere Falls Hike | Point Reyes California
This hike is roughly 8.3 miles total, so if you are looking for a stroll, this is not the hike to take. On the other hand, it is mostly flat and shaded at many points. There are a few breaks in the trail with no markers that distinguish which way is the falls, but through asking a few locals we found out the correct way. Before hitting the falls, you will encounter two lakes, so follow the trail that takes you to them. The lakes were beautiful, and one of them, Bass Lake, has a trail to the water for swimming. Shortly after the lakes, the sign for Alamere falls will appear and will take you down the mountain to the beach. To get to the beach, there are parts where you have to scale the rocks, but it is worth the little climb. Obviously by the picture, the Falls weren’t as glamorous as I thought, but it was a summer with little rain. The beach is great for hanging out and tanning, as you can walk for miles along the cliffside.

Mormon Pioneer Trail
Jen and I went for a hike on the Pioneer Trail at Dell's Reservoir in SLC, UT. The snow was pretty deep but packed down on the trail and the weather was beautiful.
Point Reyes 11 March 2011 10:35am Japan Tsunami
The water in the bay has been churning all morning. You can hear it roaring at times and the buoy bell clanging. Thankfully it is a pretty strong low tide or it would be worse. Surfers are out there catching the waves. There's a strong current ripping out as the water sloshes in and out like a bathtub. You can see the water competing at the mouth of Tomales Bay and at the point.
Shadow Cyclist: Sonoma Mountain Road, Petaluma, California
Grab your exercise bike and let's ride!
Join me on a ride climbing up Sonoma Mountain Road. This is a real gem of a climb, tucked away in Petaluma, California. It rises about 1,900 ft with an overall grade of 7%, but it's lumpy, with several short sections ranging from 10% to 20% grades. It's a solid workout and leads to a great views.
