Bonsai museum, Edogawa ku, Tokyo
Superb examples of bonsai, including wisteria, maple, pine and beech at the Shunkaen Bonsai Museum. The museum, in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo, opened in 2002. Bonsai master Kunio Kobayashi can be seen at work here with his team. He is the winner of two of Japan’s three most prestigious honours: the Prime Minister’s Award and the Higashi-Kuninomiya International Culture Award. There are over a thousand works of bonsai on display. People come from all over the world to learn from the Master (hence the flags).
[ENG] OHARA - Funabori Campus
In July, 2018, we left home town-the city of Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and relocated in a brand new school building in Funabori, Edogawa-ku which is a quiet residential area. Our school is located about 3 minutes on foot from the Shinjuku line (Funabori station) of the metropolitan subway. It is a region with full of emotions of downtown where you can see the center of Tokyo from the top of Funabori tower in front of station. While trying to communicate with local residents, we will challenge the creation of new culture with the symbiosis city in mind.
Beautiful View of Kasai Rinkai Park, Edogawa Japan
Enjoy the trains view while roaming around the Kasai Rinkai Park, Barbeque Square and Observatory center. A very beautiful park just near the Tokyo Sea Life park.

One of the BEST SUMMER FESTIVALS in Japan: Shitamachi Tanabata Matsuri
Easily one of the best summer festivals in Tokyo I have ever been to: The Shitamachi Tanabata Festival
Shitamachi (下町), literally under-city, is a traditional name for the Eastern side of Tokyo, which has traditionally been poorer in the past. It includes Chuo-ku, Taito-ku, Adachi-ku, Edogawa-ku, parts of Chiyoda-ku and more generally everything around Sumida river and Arakawa river. The festival itself is centered around the old center of shitamachi, namely Ueno and Asakusa, which are in Taito-ku.
Here is a link for everyone, who wants to learn more about Shitamachi and the opposite, Yamanote:
The tanabata festival has its origins in the Chinese Qixi Festival. It is probably best known for the colorful Streamers (吹き流し Fukinagashi) which serve as decoration all over the festival location. Another important component are paper strips (短冊 Tanzaku) which are attached to trees with wishes and thanks-messages on them.
Of course, you can also see a plethora of food stalls with Japanese street food and typical Japanese summer drinks, as well as unique dance performances. These often include taiko performances.
I have captured two wonderful performances in this video. One quite long taiko performance, as well as a stilt dance performance. You can see both in full in two other videos:
Taiko performance:
Stilt dance performance:
The shitamachi tanabata matsuri is located exactly between Ueno and Asakusa station, following the famous Kappabashi Dogu Street Outside of the festival season, it is known for being a good place to buy kitchen utensils, especially knives. If you want to buy a Japanese kitchen knife, this is the place to go in Tokyo!
More and yearly updated information can be found on the official website of the Shitamachi Tanabata Matsuri:

DJI Osmo Pocket -
Since Akasaka is close to Nagatacho and Kasumigaseki, it has long been regarded as a busy shopping district with high-end restaurants and cabarets. The area around Akasaka Station still remains, and there are a lot of restaurants and bars visited by businessmen on the way home from work.
Tokyo Midtown in Akasaka is a complex facility that integrates hotels (The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo), cultural facilities (Suntory Museum of Art, etc.), 130 shops and restaurants, offices, residences, hospitals, and green spaces.
Akasaka Sacas in Akasaka is a complex facility where entertainment spots such as the TBS Broadcasting Center, the live house “Akasaka BLITZ” and the “Akasaka ACT Theater” which performs a wide range of performances such as musicals, concerts and Kabuki are gathered.

Today, I took a walk around Asakusa, downtown Tokyo. Japan has entered summer vacation. In addition, many countries in Asia also enter summer vacation. I took a video shot in the morning, but many people had already visited Asakusa and it was hard to walk. Especially in front of the thunder gate, many people gather and it is difficult to go in and out.
This time, in addition to the main spots such as Sensoji Temple, we will go through alleys and so on slightly away from the main street.
Please use earphones to watch videos.
Then please enjoy the video.
[About Asakusa]
The city centre is the (often historical) area of a city where commerce, entertainment, shopping and political power are concentrated. The term is commonly used in many English-speaking countries and has direct equivalents in many other languages. However, noticeably, in the United States, the term downtown is commonly used to denote a city centre, and in Canada the terms city centre and downtown are used interchangeably. In Australia, the term Central Business District is widely used to refer to the city centre, but usage of the term City Centre is increasing, especially in Melbourne. In South Africa, CBD is used in formal contexts, but in informal contexts, the city centre is referred to as town, and despite the growth of decentralised CBDs such as Sandton and Umhlanga town continues to refer to the original CBDs of cities.
In many cities, the Central Business District (CBD) is within the city centre, but the concept city centre differs from the CBD. The concept of the CBD revolves solely around economic and financial power, but the city centre also includes historical, political and cultural factors. A clear example is Paris: La Défense is the central business district of Paris, but it is not the city centre. In most larger and/or older cities, the CBD and the city centre will only partially overlap, if at all.
A city centre is often the first settled part of a city, which can make it the most historical part of a city.
