China announces members of top decision-making body
시진핑, 절대 권력 구축...오늘 신임 상무위원 선출
China's biggest political event wrapped up this week -- and it elevated President Xi Jinping to the level of its first communist leader Mao Zedong,... and revealed its new leadership -- who are all in their 60s.
President Xi's political thought on Beijing's supposed new era... will now be taught as official party doctrine.
Kim Mok-yeon with the details.
As its national Congress closed on Tuesday, the Communist Party of China amended its constitution to enshrine President Xi's political ideas. Putting President Xi Jinping's name into the constitution means that anyone who challenges him could now be seen as a threat to Communist Party rule.
It also cements Xi's power ahead of a second five-year term and could give him added impetus to dictate the country's direction for the years that follow.
(Chinese)
We have just held the first plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and elected a new central leadership. I was re-elected general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. I see this as not just approval of my work, but also encouragement that will spur me on.
The constitutional change has put President Xi on par with Mao Zedong, who founded modern China in 1949, and Deng Xiaoping, who oversaw China's opening up to the world.
The slogan Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era is the party's way of saying that this is the third chapter of Communist China which highlights the leadership's role in party discipline, putting people at the center of policies, and deepening reforms to the rule of law.
On Wednesday, President Xi also announced the committee's incoming members who will work alongside him and Premier Li Keqiang for the next five years.
In order of seniority, they are Li Zhanshu , the director of the Communist Party's Central General Office,... Vice-Premier Wang Yang ,... President Xi's policy adviser Wang Huning ,... head of the Communist Party's Organization Department Zhao Leji ,... and Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng .
Regarding China's future policies toward South Korea, pundits say with the new top decision making body, there could be possibilities for a brighter future in Seoul-Beijing relations.
(KOREAN)
During the party's national congress period, China has been stressing the importance of cooperation in pursuing improved international relations. So I think Seoul should deal with the current problems with China by holding thorough discussions on how to make both sides benefit without hurting either sides' national interest.
The new-look committee is expected to hold its first general meeting on Thursday and discuss the new leadership's major tasks.
They will also begin personnel changes across various departments before the National People's Congress, set for March next year.

Moving relics of the Palace Museum during wartime
When the Japanese Kanto Army instigated the September 18 incident, both the ROC Government and the Palace Museum were concerned with the safety of museum relics, so they planned to move them to Southern China.In 1933, a total of 19,621 cases and 72 bags of ancient Chinese relics were loaded onto relic trains at the West Train Station in Beiping, and first transported along the Ping-Han, Lun-Hai and Jin-Pu railroads to Pukou, Nanjing, then they were shipped by boat to Shanghai International Settlement along the Yangtze River.In December 1936, the relics were moved to the warehouse of Nanjing Chaotian Temple. As the Japanese advanced from Beiping southwards, the relics were transported westward via three routes.The South Route was by truck to Anshun, Guizhou Province via Changsha and Guilin.The North Route was by railroad to Baoji, Shaanxi Province, and then by truck along the Sichuan-Shaanxi Highway to Emei, via Hanzhong and Chengdu.The Middle Route was by ship, upstream along the Yangtze River, to Leshan, Ba County, via Yichang, Chungking and Yibin.This process was full of difficulties and danger, and very bumpy all along the way.A few days after departure, the original place of storage was bombed by Japanese bombers.In 1944, the ROC Government was at risk of defeat along the South Western frontlines, so, after the Palace Museum held an emergency meeting, the relics stored in Anshun were moved to Sichuan Province.After victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the relics were first gathered together near Chungking, and then transported back to Nanjing Chaotian Temple, mainly by ship, but some by truck.Soon afterwards, the civil war broke out between the Nationalists and the Communists, and the relics were in jeopardy again.Members of the Executive Committee of the Museum, held an emergency meeting to discuss the evacuation of relics, and decided to move selected exquisite items to Taiwan.5,522 cases of ancient Chinese relics were shipped, in three batches, from Nanjing to Keelung, and stored in the warehouse of Taichung Sugar Factory.In 1950, the relics were moved to Beigou warehouse in Wufeng, where they were stored for more than ten years.During the 8- year War of Resistance Against Japan and the following Chinese Civil War, people from all fields of our country cooperated in moving our national treasure around, so that they were preserved, and now they continue to tell our country’s long history.

Former Thai Prime Minister Vejjajiva Charged With Murder
Former Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has been formally charged with murder in connection with a crackdown on demonstrators in 2010.
More than 90 people died in clashes during the 2010 protests.
Mr Abhisit, who leads the opposition Democrat Party, denied the charges and was granted bail.
The indictment came as protests against current Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra continued, and protesters briefly entered Government House.
Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, who was Mr Abhisit's deputy in 2010, also faces charges but has asked the court to postpone his hearing.
Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep were in power when thousands of supporters of ousted former leader Thaksin Shinawatra occupied parts of Bangkok. They authorised the army to clear the protesters.
The charges relate to the shooting deaths of a 43-year-old taxi driver and a 14-year-old during the crackdown.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, protesters briefly broke into Government House, and later cut off the office's power supply, reports said.
Anti-government protesters want Ms Yingluck to resign and for her government to be replaced with an unelected People's Council.
They say that Mr Thaksin, who is also Ms Yingluck's brother, controls the ruling Pheu Thai party.
Mr Abhisit and other Democrat Party lawmakers resigned from parliament on Sunday so that they could join the protesters.
On Monday, Ms Yingluck dissolved parliament and announced general elections for 2 February, as 150,000 protesters surrounded Government House.
However, she has refused to resign before the elections.
Ms Yingluck's Pheu Thai party has a majority in parliament, and draws significant support from Thailand's rural areas. The party is seen as well-placed to win February's election.
However, protesters accuse it of using public funds irresponsibly to secure votes, including on a controversial rice subsidy scheme which hurt Thailand's exports.
Mr Thaksin, a polarising politician, is in self-imposed exile after he was overthrown in a military coup in 2006 and convicted of corruption.

SUMMARY
=======
Emperor Wen of Sui (隋文帝; 21 July 541 – 13 August 604), personal name Yang Jian (楊堅), Xianbei name Puliuru Jian (普六茹堅), nickname Nryana (Chinese: 那羅延; pinyin: Nàluóyán), was the founder and first emperor of China's Sui Dynasty (581–618 AD). He was a hard-working administrator and a micromanager. The Sui Shu records him as having withdrawn his favour from the Confucians, giving it to the group advocating Xing-Ming and authoritarian government. As a Buddhist, he encouraged the spread of Buddhism through the state. He is regarded as one of the most important emperors in Chinese history, reunifying China in 589 after centuries of division since the fall of Western Jin Dynasty in 316. During his reign began the construction of the Grand Canal.
As a Northern Zhou official, Yang Jian served with apparent distinction during the reigns of Emperor Wu of Northern Zhou and Emperor Xuan of Northern Zhou. When the erratic Emperor Xuan died in 580, Yang, as his father-in-law, seized power as regent. After defeating the general Yuchi Jiong, who resisted him, he seized the throne for himself, establishing the new Sui Dynasty (as its Emperor Wen). He was the first Chinese to rule North China after the Xianbei invasion which conquered that area from the Liu Song dynasty (not counting the brief reconquest of that region by Emperor Wu of Liang).
Generally speaking, Emperor Wen's reign was a great period of prosperity not seen since the Han Dynasty. Economically, the dynasty prospered. It was said that there was enough food stored for 50 years. The military was also powerful. At the beginning of his reign, Sui faced the threat of the Göktürks to the north, and neighbored Tibetan tribes to the west, Goguryeo in the northeast, and Champa (Linyi) threatening the south. By the end of Emperor Wen's reign, the Göktürks had split into an eastern and a western kaganate, the eastern one being nominally submissive to Sui, as was Goguryeo. Champa was defeated and, while not conquered, did not remain a threat.
Emperor Wen is also famous for having the fewest number of concubines for an adult Chinese emperor. (Emperor Fei of Western Wei and the Ming dynasty Hongzhi Emperor were the only two perpetually monogamous Chinese emperors.) Emperor Wen was known for having only two concubines (although he might have had additional concubines not documented by traditional historians), with whom he might not have had sexual relations until after the death in 602 of his wife Empress Dugu, whom he loved and respected deeply.

SUMMARY
=======
Yunnan (云南) is a province of China. Located in Southwest China, the province spans approximately 394,000 square kilometres (152,000 sq mi) and has a population of 47.368 million (as of 2015). The capital of the province is Kunming, formerly also known as Yunnan. The province borders the Chinese provinces Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, and the Tibet Autonomous Region, as well as the countries Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar.
Yunnan is situated in a mountainous area, with high elevations in the northwest and low elevations in the southeast. Most of the population lives in the eastern part of the province. In the west, the altitude can vary from the mountain peaks to river valleys by as much as 3,000 metres (9,800 ft). Yunnan is rich in natural resources and has the largest diversity of plant life in China. Of the approximately 30,000 species of higher plants in China, Yunnan has perhaps 17,000 or more. Yunnan's reserves of aluminium, lead, zinc and tin are the largest in China, and there are also major reserves of copper and nickel.
The Han Empire first recorded diplomatic relations with the province at the end of the 2nd century BC. It became the seat of a Sino-Tibetan-speaking kingdom of Nanzhao in the 8th century AD. Nanzhao was multi-ethnic, but the elite most-likely spoke a northern dialect of Yi. The Mongols conquered the region in the 13th century, followed by the Ming dynasty.
From the Yuan dynasty onward, the area was part of a central-government sponsored population movement towards the southwestern frontier, with two major waves of migrants arriving from Han-majority areas in northern and southeast China. As with other parts of China's southwest, Japanese occupation in the north during World War II forced another migration of Han people into the region. These two waves of migration contributed to Yunnan being one of the most ethnically diverse provinces of China, with ethnic minorities accounting for about 34 percent of its total population. Major ethnic groups include Yi, Bai, Hani, Zhuang, Dai and Miao.

The province borders the Chinese provinces Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, and the Tibet Autonomous Region, and the countries Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar.
Yunnan is situated in a mountainous area, with high elevations in the northwest and low elevations in the southeast. Most of the population lives in the eastern part of the province. In the west, the altitude can vary from the mountain peaks to river valleys as much as 3,000 metres (9,800 ft).
The Mongols conquered the region in the 13th century, with local control exercised by warlords until the 1930s. From the Yuan dynasty onward, the area was part of a central-government sponsored population movement towards the southwestern frontier, with two major waves of migrants arriving from Han-majority areas in northern and southeast China. As with other parts of China's southwest, Japanese occupation in the north during World War II forced another migration of majority Han people into the region. These two waves of migration contributed to Yunnan being one of the most ethnically diverse provinces of China, with ethnic minorities accounting for about 34 percent of its total population. Major ethnic groups include Yi, Bai, Hani, Zhuang, Dai and Miao.

SUMMARY
=======
World War II (often abbreviated to WWII or WW2), also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. The vast majority of the world's countries—including all the great powers—eventually formed two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. A state of total war emerged, directly involving more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. The major participants threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, blurring the distinction between civilian and military resources. World War II was the deadliest conflict in human history, marked by 50 to 85 million fatalities, most of whom were civilians in the Soviet Union and China. It included massacres, the genocide of the Holocaust, strategic bombing, premeditated death from starvation and disease, and the only use of nuclear weapons in war.Japan, which aimed to dominate Asia and the Pacific, was at war with China by 1937, though neither side had declared war on the other. World War II is generally said to have begun on 1 September 1939, with the invasion of Poland by Germany and subsequent declarations of war on Germany by France and the United Kingdom. From late 1939 to early 1941, in a series of campaigns and treaties, Germany conquered or controlled much of continental Europe, and formed the Axis alliance with Italy and Japan. Under the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact of August 1939, Germany and the Soviet Union partitioned and annexed territories of their European neighbours, Poland, Finland, Romania and the Baltic states. Following the onset of campaigns in North Africa and East Africa, and the fall of France in mid 1940, the war continued primarily between the European Axis powers and the British Empire. War in the Balkans, the aerial Battle of Britain, the Blitz, and the long Battle of the Atlantic followed. On 22 June 1941, the European Axis powers launched an invasion of the Soviet Union, opening the largest land theatre of war in history. This Eastern Front trapped the Axis, most crucially the German Wehrmacht, into a war of attrition. In December 1941, Japan launched a surprise attack on the United States as well as European colonies in the Pacific. Following an immediate U.S. declaration of war against Japan, supported by one from Great Britain, the European Axis powers quickly declared war on the U.S. in solidarity with their Japanese ally. Rapid Japanese conquests over much of the Western Pacific ensued, perceived by many in Asia as ...

SUMMARY
=======
Socialism in Hong Kong is a political trend taking root from Marxism imported to Hong Kong and mainland China in the late 1910s and early 1920s. Socialist trends have taken various forms, including communism, Trotskyism and democratic socialism, with the communists being the most dominant faction due to the influence of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Mainland regime. The traditional leftists became the largest Beijing-loyalist forces in the post-war decades which had an uneasy relationship with the colonial authorities. As the Communist Party of China adopted economic reform from 1978 and the pro-Beijing faction became increasingly conservative, the socialist agenda has been slowly taken up by the liberal-dominated pro-democracy camp today.

Orlando is also known as The Theme Park Capital of the World and in 2018 its tourist attractions and events drew more than 75 million visitors. The Orlando International Airport (MCO or OIA) is the thirteenth-busiest airport in the United States and the 29th-busiest in the world.As one of the world's most visited tourist destinations, Orlando's famous attractions form the backbone of its tourism industry. The two most significant of these attractions are Walt Disney World, opened by the Walt Disney Company in 1971, and located approximately 21 miles (34 km) southwest of Downtown Orlando in Bay Lake; and the Universal Orlando Resort, opened in 1990 as a major expansion of Universal Studios Florida. The city is also one of the busiest American cities for conferences and conventions; the Orange County Convention Center is the second-largest convention facility in the United States.
Like other major cities in the Sun Belt, Orlando grew rapidly from the 1980s up into the first decade of the 21st century. Orlando is home to the University of Central Florida, which is the largest university campus in the United States in terms of enrollment as o ...
