Czech Republic - Sloup Rock Castle
The Hermit Stone is probably the most significant rock castle in northern Bohemia. It is likely that the rock-carved rooms were part of a bigger castle just _ today but no one can say where it was at all. Its history is very mystery. Other literature is doubted that this was a castle. It could have been a manor in. Until the 18th Century, the castle was a hermitage. Today it can be visited.
Sand Sculptures-Historical Figures by Písek Bridge-Czech Republic
Sand sculptures are built in Písek along the banks of Otava river by the bridge every year during sand sculpture competitions. In 2011 the sand sculptures represented Historical figures of the Rožmberk/Rosenberg family which was a significant powerhouse in Europe for centuries.
Písecké Slavnosti or Písek Festival followed the sand sculpture competition which took place at the end of May, 2011 a few weeks later and that is when this video was made.
Back to the Rožumerks/Rosenbergs: The last member of the family Petr Vok z Rožmberka or Peter Vok from Rožmberk/Rosenberg aka Peter Wok von Rosenberg was born in 1539 in Český Krumlov and died in 1611 in Třeboň at the age of 72. He is buried in Vyšší Brod. All the places mentioned are found in the Czech Republic.
Although he spent most of his time in Central Europe he visited the Netherlands and England in 1562 where he was received by Queen Elizabeth I at the age of 23.
He was a big collector of knowledge and gathered one of the largest libraries of books at his time. Petr Vok was also a rare kind noble who didn't raise taxes and who fed the poor at his castle daily.
Enjoy.
Město Strakonice nabízí turistům expozice zdejšího hradu a muzea, městské slavnosti a především velký svátek dudáků v podobě Mezinárodního dudáckého festivalu.
Město Tábor zaujme nejen stopami historie, ale například i botanickou zahradou. Nedávno otevřená expozice Táborský poklad představuje tisíce evropských mincí, které byly skoro 500 let ukryté pod podlahou jednoho z táborských domů. Kouzlo má i návštěva nedalekých Chýnovských jeskyní.
The surroundings of the town of Písek are well featured in a famous novel written by Jaroslav Hašek describing the adventures of the 'Good Soldier Švejk'. Tourists visiting this town will be interested not only in the stone bridge, the oldest preserved stone bridge in the Czech Republic, but also in the international folk festivals, picnics on the former fortification's walls and in the historical electrical plant, the master piece of the famous Czech inventor František Křižík. In Kestřany, situated nearby, gold washing takes place once a year in the gold-bearing river of Otava. In the town of Strakonice you can visit an exhibition in the local castle and museum, town festivities and especially the International Bagpipe Festival.
The town of Tábor will arouse your interest not only for its turbulent history, but also for its botanic garden. A recently opened exhibition, called The Treasure of Tábor, shows thousands of European coins which were hidden for almost 500 years underneath the flooring of one of the town houses. Another magical place to visit is the complex of Chýnov caves located nearby.

České dráhy (ČD) or Czech Railways is the main railway operator in the Czech Republic. In 2010 its consolidated revenues reached CZK 41.0 billion (€1.6bn, $2.1bn). Revenues from passenger transport amounted to CZK 18.7 billion (65% transfer payments from the government, 25% intra-state transport, 10% international transport), revenues from freight transport operated by subsidiary ČD Cargo amounted to CZK 11.8 billion, revenues from traffic control invoiced to state-owned railway infrastructure operator SŽDC amounted to CZK 5.2 billion. With thirty-eight thousand employees ČD Group is the largest Czech company by the number of employees.
The company was established in 1993, after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia as a successor of the Czechoslovak State Railways. It is a member of the International Railway Union (UIC Country Code for Czech Republic is 54), Community of European Railways and the Organization for Railways Cooperation (Asia and Europe).
Until 1 July 2008, České dráhy was the biggest employer in the Czech Republic. After experiencing regular losses and requiring government subsidies, the railway reported its first ever profit in 2007 although it receives government subsidies. Attempts to make it more efficient are currently ongoing and a recent plan to move passenger transport to an independent subsidiary was approved by the Czech government in January 2008.
ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidies available to ČD and SŽDC.
ČD Cargo, the cargo subsidiary, mainly transports raw materials, intermediate goods and containers. As of 2009, it is ranked in the top five largest railway cargo operators in Europe.

ArtMill Bohemian Workshops EU 2011
ArtMill Center for Sustainable Creativity hosted the Bohemian Workshops EU in Czech Republic, October 2011. This was a 7-day visual arts and cultural exchange program for European youth from Turkey, Norway, Switzerland, Spain and Czech Republic. This non-formal, immersive learning program was designed as an alternative to the conventional classroom or studio experience. Based on the guild models of the Renaissance, participants developed historical and critical perspectives about their chosen project while gaining an awareness of the contemporary culture of Czech Republic. The objectives of Bohemian Workshops EU included promoting tolerance among young people by sharing our different cultures with one another, nurturing creative talent and educating young people about the connections between art, sustainability and the environment. The program began in Prague and finished at ArtMill Center for Sustainable Creativity in Horažd'ovice, Czech Republic. 18 participants had the opportunity to explore the cultural institutions of Prague and Southern Bohemia, to work directly with 7 noted Czech and international artists in the studios of ArtMill and to collaborate creatively with their peers from different parts of Europe.

SUMMARY
=======
Franz Kafka (3 July 1883 – 3 June 1924) was a German-speaking Bohemian Jewish novelist and short story writer, widely regarded as one of the major figures of 20th-century literature. His work, which fuses elements of realism and the fantastic, typically features isolated protagonists faced by bizarre or surrealistic predicaments and incomprehensible social-bureaucratic powers, and has been interpreted as exploring themes of alienation, existential anxiety, guilt, and absurdity. His best known works include Die Verwandlung (The Metamorphosis), Der Process (The Trial), and Das Schloss (The Castle). The term Kafkaesque has entered the English language to describe situations like those in his writing.Kafka was born into a middle-class, German-speaking Jewish family in Prague, the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, today the capital of the Czech Republic. He trained as a lawyer, and after completing his legal education he was employed by an insurance company, forcing him to relegate writing to his spare time. Over the course of his life, Kafka wrote hundreds of letters to family and close friends, including his father, with whom he had a strained and formal relationship. He became engaged to several women but never married. He died in 1924 at the age of 40 from tuberculosis.
Few of Kafka's works were published during his lifetime: the story collections Betrachtung (Contemplation) and Ein Landarzt (A Country Doctor), and individual stories (such as Die Verwandlung) were published in literary magazines but received little public attention. Kafka's unfinished works, including his novels Der Process, Das Schloss and Der Verschollene (translated as both Amerika and The Man Who Disappeared), were ordered by Kafka to be destroyed by his friend Max Brod, who nonetheless ignored his friend's direction and published them after Kafka's death. His work went on to influence a vast range of writers, critics, artists, and philosophers during the 20th century.
