Western Australia National Park Tour - El Questro Park and Emma Gorge
Touring Western Australia's National Parks is one of the most popular trips to take. While driving through the Kimberlys and Kununurra you will pass through El Questro National Park and Emma Gorge. This park area was easily one of my favorite places to tour on my camping trip down the coast of Western Australia through the Western Territory. If you are planning the pass through the Kununurra area you must take a day and see the amazing gorges and hike that El Questro National Park and Emma Gorge has to offer. You will either need 4wd or be prepared to walk a little to explore all that these amazing nature parks have to offer. The hikes you will experience are not easy but are very rewarding to complete and to see what is at the end.
If you are looking to stay and camp in El Questro or Emma Gorge there is a nice resort area that I recommend checking out inside of the Emma Gorge area. When you are leaving you can either take the Gibb road (4wd is absolute must) for an adventure or head back to the main sealed highway to continue on your adventure through Australia.

The On The Road series of video's will look at places around Western Australia. As a touring coach driver I get to travel around this great state, and I want to show you a few things of interest.
This video is of the walk into Emma Gorge on El Questro Station. The circular pool at the end is well worth the 1 hour walk in to get to it.

Emma Gorge - El Questro Station - The Kimberleys
Emma Gorge is located in the El Questro Wilderness Park. El Questro is located on the Gibb River road in Western Australia’s untamed Kimberley, and extends for approximately 80 kilometres into the heart of the region, most of which has never been explored. It is one of the last true frontiers.

El Questro: Emma Gorge
FOR MORE DETAIL -
The walk up the gorge starts with a level gravel path but soon reverts to a challenging bolder strewn riverbed as gorge narrows. An hour’s walk will get you to the end of the gorge and provide the opportunity to take a cool and refreshing swim. The walk is well worth the effort (3.2km there and back) as the waterhole and waterfall at the end of the gorge is spectacular. The 65m high cliffs and waterfall close in above your head and create a cathedral like atmosphere.
Regarded as one of the great Australian 4WD tracks, the Gibb River Road is now sealed from Kununurra to the entrances of both El Questro’s Emma Gorge and El Questro Station. A two-kilometre gravel road gets you to the car park and Emma Gorge’s safari- style tented cabins. The open-air, Emma’s Restaurant is a great place to have a feed or a drink after hiking up the gorge.

Geikie Gorge
In the far north of Western Australia in the area known as the Kimberley's, Geikie Gorge is where the Fitzroy river has broken through the junction of the Oscar and Geikie Ranges, ancient Devonian reefs that have been uplifted by movements of the earth
The local Bunaba people run the river cruise giving them a source of income and the advantage of passing on their knowledge of the area to the tourists
