Rides at Enchanted Island - Phoenix, Arizona
Some random videos of the rides at Enchanted Island at Encanto Park in Phoenix, Arizona, United States.
Wasting some time before heading over to Castles n' Coasters (not opening until 5pm) I took a few minutes to walk around Enchanted Island and the rest of Encanto Park. The rides are kids only but I still make a quick visit. Didn't even try to ride the Dragon Wagon haha.
Rides shown in order - Park Entrance, Mini Enterprise (Zamperla), Encanto Carousel (Allan Herschell), Ducks (Quack), Dragon Wagon (Wisdom), C.P. Huntington Train (Chance), Kiddie Cars (Hampton) and Red Baron (Zamperla)

History of Phoenix -- North Encanto Neighborhood
Once again I am walking around in one of Phoenix's historical neighborhoods and this time I tell the story of F.Q. Story the man who built most of old downtown and west Phoenix as far west as 15th avenue and north t Thomas Rd.

The Del Norte Place Historic District in Phoenix Arizona - Historic Phoenix
The Encanto Municipal Golf Course wraps around the northern and western edges of this roughly 1/4 mile historic district, while beautiful Encanto Park cradles the neighborhood on the eastern edge. Ad agencies originally sold Del Norte Place as “the countryside west of town” when the subdivision was created back in 1927, and it still evokes a strong sense of “countryside” today.
Visit Historic Phoenix for more information and for a current list of property for sale in The Del Norte Place Historic District:
With a mix of 30s English Cottages and 40s Ranches, streets lined with deep grassy easements, mature trees, and a seeming lack of city traffic, Del Norte Place exudes serious charm and peace and quiet. We’d never go so far as saying that Del Norte is reminiscent of Mayberry (as Phoenix New Times did when it voted Del Norte Place the Best Historic Neighborhood in 2009), but must admit that it is hard to believe you’re in the 5th largest city in the U.S. when you’re in Del Norte Place.
The homes in Del Norte Place average around 1500 square feet, usually with 3 bedrooms. Price-wise, the homes are on par with Willo—one of Phoenix’s most visible historic districts—while Del Norte’s neighbor Encanto-Palmcroft Historic District has some of the priciest historic homes in Phoenix.
Golf anyone? Or how about a paddle boat ride on the lagoon to cool off during the summer months? Yup. You can rent one in Encanto Park by the half-hour: 2605 N 15th Avenue.
Best of Phoenix 2009: In the realm of central Phoenix historic districts, Del Norte Place is flanked by some heavy hitters: Encanto-Palmcroft, Willo, Roosevelt, and F.Q. Story. But this little sleeper of a neighborhood, dating to the 1920s, is an idyllic place. Its broad, tree-lined streets and carefully manicured lawns make you feel you’re somewhere else, like Mayberry. People hang out on their front porches and kids ride their bikes and play in the street. The architecture varies from English Cottage to California ranch, with front porches rather than monster garages.

Places to see in ( Phoenix - USA )
Phoenix is the capital of the southwestern U.S. state of Arizona. Known for its year-round sun and warm temperatures, it anchors a sprawling, multicity metropolitan area known as the Valley of the Sun. It's known for high-end spa resorts, Jack Nicklaus–designed golf courses and vibrant nightclubs. Other highlights include the Desert Botanical Garden, displaying cacti and numerous native plants.
Phoenix is the capital of the state of Arizona as well as the most populous city in the American Southwest and sixth largest city in the United States. Founded in 1871, it has become the region's primary political, cultural, economic, and transportation center. At an elevation of 1100 ft (335 m), it is situated in the biologically unique Sonoran Desert. Over time it has merged with the neighboring cities of Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert to form the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Currently exurbs such as Apache Junction, Fountain Hills, Queen Creek, and Sun City are becoming part of this metropolitan area as well. Phoenix is extremely hot in the summertime, so always have sun screen with you.

***The Phoenix Area’s Parks and Preserves (2007) by Donna and George Hartz - Provides several intriguing late nineteenth and early twentieth century photographs from Phoenix’s parks and preserves, including the Phoenix Mountains and Squaw Peak. I recommend checking this out if you are interested in the history of Phoenix's mountains or seeing more early photographs of Squaw Peak.
***Squaw Peak: A Hiker’s Guide (1997) by Jack San Felice - A history of the peak and detailed information on the various trails, including the Summit Trail.
***60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Phoenix (2009) by Charles Liu - I highly recommend checking out this book if you’re an avid hiker or intend to hike other trails in the Phoenix area. It includes detailed overviews on several wonderful hikes, including Piestewa Peak’s Summit Trail and Freedom Trail on pages 48-56.
***A Natural History of the Sonoran Desert (2015) edited by Steven J. Philips & Patricia Wentworth Comus - Produced by the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, this book is the authoritative text on the Sonoran Desert. It is absolutely the best read on the environment, plants, and animals of this unique ecosystem and will greatly inform any travel or hike through the areas of central and southern Arizona, southeast California, Baja California, or Sonora. Originally published in 1999, the updated second edition came out in 2015. The original edition is available for a cheaper price here.

Aerial video of Monsoon rolling in over Phoenix skyline
Enjoy a late afternoon monsoon rolling over Central, Uptown & Downtown Phoenix. Camera facing the SouthEast valley to capture the Monsoon dust plume in the distance...filmed - August 12th, 2018 in Encanto Historic District within Phoenix, Arizona.
The North American monsoon, variously known as the Southwest monsoon, the Mexican monsoon, the New Mexican monsoon, or the Arizona monsoon,[1] is a pattern of pronounced increase in thunderstorms and rainfall over large areas of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico, typically occurring between July and mid September. During the monsoon, thunderstorms are fueled by daytime heating and build up during the late afternoon-early evening. Typically, these storms dissipate by late night, and the next day starts out fair, with the cycle repeating daily. The monsoon typically loses its energy by mid-September when drier and cooler conditions are reestablished over the region.
The North American monsoon is associated with an area of high pressure called the subtropical ridge that moves northward during the summer months and a thermal low (a trough of low pressure which develops from intense surface heating) over the Mexican Plateau and the Desert Southwest of the United States.[3] The monsoon begins in late May to early June in southern Mexico and quickly spreads along the western slopes of the Sierra Madre Occidental, reaching Arizona and New Mexico in early July. The monsoon extends into the southwest United States as it matures in mid-July, when an area of high pressure, called the monsoon or subtropical ridge, develops in the upper atmosphere over the Four Corners region, creating wind flow aloft from the east or southeast.
Pulses of low level moisture are transported primarily from the Gulf of California and eastern Pacific. The Gulf of California, a narrow body of water surrounded by mountains, is particularly important for low-level moisture transport into Arizona and Sonora. Upper level moisture is also transported into the region, mainly from the Gulf of Mexico by easterly winds aloft. Once the forests of the Sierra Madre Occidental green up from the initial monsoon rains, evaporation and plant transpiration can add additional moisture to the atmosphere which will then flow into Arizona. Finally, if the southern Plains of the U.S. are unusually wet and green during the early summer months, that area can also serve as a moisture source.[4]
As precipitable water values rise in early summer, brief but often torrential thunderstorms can occur, especially over mountainous terrain.[5] This activity is occasionally enhanced by the passage of tropical waves and the entrainment of the remnants of tropical cyclones.[6][7]
Monsoons play a vital role in managing wildfire threat by providing moisture at higher elevations and feeding desert streams. Heavy monsoon rain can lead to excess winter plant growth, in turn a summer wildfire risk. A lack of monsoon rain can hamper summer seeding, reducing excess winter plant growth but worsening drought.
Flash flooding is a serious danger during the monsoon. Dry washes can become raging rivers in an instant, even when no storms are visible as a storm can cause a flash flood tens of miles away; it is therefore wise to avoid camping in a dry wash during the monsoon. Lightning strikes are also a significant danger. Because it is dangerous to be caught in the open when these storms suddenly appear, many golf courses in Arizona have thunderstorm warning systems. - sourced via Wikipedia.
