CITY CRUISE DEDICATION OHIO CC HELD OCT 22ND IN CINCINNATI.

Astronaut who spent nearly a year in space visits Cincinnati
WALNUT HILLS, Ohio (WKRC) - After a year in space, Astronaut Scott Kelly says it’s great to be any place with gravity. On Wednesday night, a crowd in Cincinnati was happy to spend time with him.
The Navy veteran and fighter pilot spoke at Walnut Hills High School with a captive audience.
Astronomer Dean Regas with the Cincinnati Observatory moderated the event.
“Oh I’m just as excited as everybody else. This is the first astronaut I’ve met in person. I’ve idolized John Glenn and Neil Armstrong, but to actually meet him, said Regas.
The astronaut commanded the International Space Station on three expeditions. Kelly talked about the effects of spending 340 days in space on the human body. He holds the American record for consecutive days spent in space. While he was there, Kelly's identical twin brother, Mark, remained on Earth.
“Microgravity, the effects are bone loss, muscle loss, some effects on our vision that we are trying to understand,“ Kelly said.
Kelly's new book is called, Endurance. It's not just about having to endure a year in space, but also about having the endurance to push through life. An evening with a star inspired the youngest in the crowd to reach for the stars.
You don't have to be good at something or at school. Put your mind to something, take steps, you can do it, said 13-year-old Jeremiah Ragan.
NASA says Kelly grew two inches during his time aboard the International Space Station. His body has since returned to its normal height.

SUMMARY
=======
Cincinnati ( SIN-sih-NAT-ee) is a major city in the U.S. state of Ohio, and is the government seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers, the latter of which marks the state line with Kentucky. The city drives the Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington combined statistical area, which had a population of 2,172,191 in the 2010 census making it Ohio's largest metropolitan area. With a population of 296,943, Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio and 65th in the United States. Its metropolitan area is the fastest growing economic power in the Midwestern United States based on increase of economic output and it is the 28th-largest metropolitan statistical area in the U.S. Cincinnati is also within a day's drive of 49.70% of the United States populace. In the nineteenth century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the middle of the country. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was listed among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the United States eastern seaboard, as well as being the sixth-biggest city for a period spanning 1840 until 1860. As Cincinnati was the first city founded after the American Revolution, as well as the first major inland city in the country, it is regarded as the first purely American city.Cincinnati developed with fewer immigrants and less influence from Europe than East Coast cities in the same period. However, it received a significant number of German immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. By the end of the 19th century, with the shift from steamboats to railroads drawing off freight shipping, trade patterns had altered and Cincinnati's growth slowed considerably. The city was surpassed in population by other inland cities, particularly Chicago, which developed based on strong commodity exploitation, economics, and the railroads, and St. Louis, which for decades after the Civil War served as the gateway to westward migration.
Cincinnati is home to three major sports teams: the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball; the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League; and FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer. The city's largest institution of higher education, the University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1819 as a municipal college and is now ranked as one of the 50 largest in the United States. Cincinnati is home to historic architecture with many structures in the urban core having remained intact for 200 years. In the late 1800s, Cincinnati was commonly referred to as the Paris of America, due mainly to such ambitious architectural projects as the Music Hall, Cincinnatian Hotel, and Shillito Department Store. Cincinnati is the birthplace of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States.

Balanced Bearcats play in another state for a season.
CINCINNATI (AP) — A crane towers over Cincinnati's on-campus arena, and banner on the side explains the reason why: Home Won't Be Built In A Day.
It's going to take a year for the Bearcats' arena to undergo a major renovation, forcing them to play home games in another state this season. They'll make the half-hour drive across the Ohio River to BB&T Arena on Northern Kentucky University's campus, the biggest adjustment for one of the best teams in coach Mick Cronin's 12 seasons.
We're used to being in different environments, forward Kyle Washington said. It will be a change at first, but we'll transition to it.

Police: 2 injured after chase ends with crash in OTR
OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) - Emergency crews were called to 12th and Main Street for a crash in Over-The-Rhine on Tuesday.
Cincinnati Police say that the crash is the result of a police chase that started in Northern Kentucky.
Keith Johnson, 34, was going the wrong way on East 12th Street when he couldn't quite make the turn on Main. He lost control of his car, hitting a 55-year-old woman and crashing into the wall right next to St. John Baptist Church.
The woman was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition with minor injuries.
A female passenger also sustained minor injuries and was listed in stable condition at UC Medical Center. She was wearing her seatbelt.
Johnson was uninjured.
He's been charged with Reckless Operation, Driving Under Suspension, and two unrelated open warrants.
It's a busy part of OTR and a lot of people were there when it happened.
Originally I thought they went into Goodfellas, but it was a huge noise. A loud bang, said AJ Brady, a witness. You never see a whole street blocked off and a car go through a wall and people down on the ground.
Excessive speed was a factor in the crash, according to police. Impairment was not.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
