Small in size, but large in talent, is how Slovenia could be qualified. The Julian Alps and eastern Slovenia have roads and scenery from your motorcycle wish list. Enjoy winding through rolling back country hills that make riding exciting and a real adventure, taste delicious food and find out all about the friendliness of the local people.
Rich in resources, naturally good-looking and persistently peaceful, Slovenia still remains a wonderful antidote to much of Europe's crowds and high prices. The friendly, mostly English-speaking Slovenians, beautiful sights everywhere, little traffic and stunning scenery help to make this an unforgettable week.

The most underrated country in Europe - Slovenia
I've been to many countries in Europe, I think over 75% of them, but none of them compared to Slovenia. On every level, Slovenia looks like, as of now, to me, it's at the top of the list. Safety, cost, scenery, convenience, the people, the food, the nightlife, the amount of people there and so on. Slovenia is the most underrated country in Europe in my opinion, followed closely
If you've not visited Slovenia yet, get yourself over there. If there are no direct flights to Ljubljana, you can fly to Venice and drive over, or jump on some public transport, it's pretty easy to get around.
In this video we show you what Ljubljana has to offer, what's happening in mid-December, what there is to see, what sort of prices the traditional food is and most importantly, we got absolutely hammered in Ljubljanas bars with the locals - yep, we're embarrassing, we know. We ventured to Captain's Cabin like we did the night before, and ended up meeting a group of young Slovenian lads and girls who you can see for a few seconds in the video. Later on, a group of Essex lads ended up in Captain's Cabin with us, but we left pretty quickly as Goldie could barely stand up.
Shout out to anybody who's in the video - if you are, let me know below.
Have you been on a night out in Ljubljana? Let us know below.
What a place though, Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. It's hard for some people to pronounce Ljubljana, it's sometimes written and pronounced as Lubliana or Lublana - we joke about this in the video, pretty much calling it anything except Ljubljana - specifically Adam Lallana.
Slovenia used to be part of Yugoslavia until 1991 when the country was split into all of the countries you know today. Slovenia seems to be the richest of the former Yugoslav states, and you can tell when you're there.
Anyway, check out our travel vlog from my first trip to Slovenia, which is now top of the list of countries I've been to in Europe.

Lake Bled & Ljubljana, Slovenia
We spent a weekend in Slovenia exploring the stunning city of Ljubljana and Lake Bled. This video summarises what we got up to there!
Ljubljana is charming, beautiful and surprisingly lively. It’s really affordable (perfect for budget travellers) and the people are lovely. There’s quite a bit to see and do, but we felt a weekend was long enough to do the key attractions.
Lake Bled is located 475 metres above sea level in the Julian Alps in the north-western part of Slovenia. It’s absolutely beautiful and we highly recommend hiring a row boat to get to the little island, as well as hiking up to the castle.
If you’re looking for things to do in Ljubljana and Lake Bled in Slovenia, we recommend:
Traditional Slovenian Evening (folklore show and 3-course dinner)
Pub crawl Ljubljana
Ljubljana Castle
A day trip to Lake Bled! - Hire a row boat and pack a picnic.

Is Lake Bled in Slovenia A Tourist Trap?
Lake Bled is probably the most famous lake in Slovenia, but is it the best? It's certainly a beautiful part of the world, so we headed over to see what it was like.
As with most touristy places, a lot of them tend to be tourist traps, hiking their prices up to phenomenal amounts just because tourists are there, whether it's worth that much or not.
We visited Lake Bled in December and it was cold, but with the blue skies, the place still looked unreal - what a place. Actually, the whole country was amazing, it completely shocked us and is now up there as one of my favourite countries so far.
In summer, I can imagine Lake Bled being rammed with tourists, potentially making it unbearable, but as we were there out of season, it was really nice. As Goldie said in the video, Slovenia was the right amount of busy, not too many people and not completely dead.
Slovenia is a really nice country and somewhere I'd definitely recommend visiting, and I'll certainly be back to see more of the country.
In the middle of Lake Bled is an island, called Bled Island, which apparently was created by fairies. Goldie tells that fairytale in the video once we get to the island. To get to Bled Island, you need to get on a boat, and after walking past the boats, we walked back and ended up on the boat to the island. It's €15 for a return trip to Bled Island on the paddleboat. It's a bit of a rip off, but there's no other way of getting there out of season as you can't rent a boat with the rental shops being closed.
In the background of Lake Bled, you can see the Slovenian mountains which make for an amazing photo opportunity. On the side of the lake was a Christmas market, but in summer I can imagine all sorts of things going on here.
There's also a castle at the side of the lake that we never made it to.
so is Lake Bled a tourist trap? Kind of, but not overly. The boat ride is an absolute rip off, but the cafe on the Island was pretty cheap. Paying to get into a church is also something that I didn't fancy doing.
