Welcome To Ktima Petalea !
Situated on a vast 200-acre, beachfront property at the Western edge of Mavrovouni Beach, 7 km outside Gytheion on the Southeastern edge of the Peloponnese, Ktima Petalea is the ideal destination for holidaymakers wishing to combine the comfort and privacy of a vacation cottage with the attraction of a beach resort, and the allure of a nature recreation retreat -with a touch of agro-tourism for added spice!
Each of the six autonomous cottages comfortably sleeps between 2-4, has an equipped kitchenette (stove-top,lightly stocked fridge and pantry, cookware dinnerware...), a dining/ sitting area and a bathroom.
Each cottage has 2 or more private decks, lawn and parking area; while all guests are welcome to grill on the outdoor barbecue, gather fresh herbs and vegetables for their meals from the market garden and pick ripened fruit from the Estate's Orchard.
For outdoor recreation lovers -in addition to enjoying water sports in the deep blue ocean and strolling along the 5-km-long sandy beach- guests may walk, run, cycle (complimentary bicycles are at guests' disposal) and/ or horseback ride (for a fee)
on the 2.5 km on-site wooded track or hike the 800m marked trail that separates Ktima Petalea and Mavrovouni Beach from neighbouring Vathi Beach.
Guests yearning for a bit more rest and relaxation can avail themselves of the complimentary beach umbrellas and lounge chairs surf-side, as well as, enjoy refreshments and snacks from the cafe/ bar located on -site.
Although we strive to meet most of our visitors' needs onsite, we do encourage them to discover and enjoy the surrounding sights and attractions, including strolling along the boardwalk in the nearby, picturesque port town of Gytheio; taking a drive through the stark, rugged beauty of Inner Mani and stopping for a swim or meal at one of the fishing villages along the way; walking through the narrow, cobblestone streets of Areopoli. For those wishing to venture further afield, we suggest day excursions to breathtaking Elafonisos and historic Monemvasia.
We look forward to welcoming guests to Ktima Petalea and making their stay an unforgettable experience.
Easter in Greece (Crete)
Easter in Greece 2016: Many people are not really familiar with the celebration of Easter in Greece. We will tell you something more about it: nowhere in the world is the Easter week experienced as intense as in Greece. Nature is at her best during this period. From the Monday before Easter every day is called big here: Big Monday, etc. On all these big days it is fun to go look in the villages at the preparations for the Easter festivities. There is a lot of activity. Almost all villages make an Easter bonfire, which is lit on the Big Saturday. The young people are busy all week to collect wood. In one village the stake is even higher than in the other. Often there is a sort of rivalry between the villages which one will have the largest fire. During this week a lot of fireworks are lit already during the collection of the wood.

Crossing Lousios gorge, Peloponnese
Lousios Gorge where Lousios river runs through, is known to travellers for the two monasteries that are built on the slopes of the mountains. Panagia Filosofou on the left and Ioannou Prodromou on the right. Those who want to go from one monastery to the other they have to cross Lousios gorge and pass over the bridge under which Lousios river runs. It takes about one hour and a half to go from one monastery to the other (to & from) but the experience is unforgettable as they have to walk on uneven and slippery pathway.
