I started by having a delicious breakfast at the Real Intercontinental Guatemala and some fantastic coffee. From their we drove one hour south to Antigua. We partnered up with A La Carta Tours and Antigua Rides to give us this unreal food tour of Antigua.
We started by heading to the neighborhood of San Juan del Obispo. Their we saw a 15th century church and had some Chuchitos (Guatemalan version of Tamales). They were spicy and delicious!
Next up we entered Chocolateria Antigua to see how they turn Cacao into chocolate bars. We then tried 13 different chocolates. They were all so good! I had to buy myself some.
From their we walked down the street to El Abuelo del Vino which is a fruit fermenting factory. They ferment over 40 different fruits and turn them into fruit wine. We saw the process and tried a dozen very strong wines!
After that we drove across town to Cerro de la Cruz to get an incredible view over the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Antigua. To end the tour we hit up La Cuevita de los Urquizu to have a truly unique Guatemalan meal. When you visit Antigua you have to eat here!
Next time you head to Guatemala I recommend working with my friends at A La Carta Tours: and Antigua Rides

AMAZING Guatemalan STREET FOOD + Antigua Walking Tour | Antigua, Guatemala

We started our exploration of Antigua by walking through the historical center of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua. We first saw La Carmen Convent ruins, then we went to La Perla to have a quick espresso and then we visited La Merced Church.
From there we made our way across the city and stopped at Santa Catalina Arch which is the icon of Antigua. It's a a 15 century arch built to help the nuns cross from the convent to a school. Next up we saw the Antigua Cathedral ruins. It was destroyed during an earthquake in the year 1773.
We then made a quick stop at La Casa del Ron and tried some amazing Zacapa rums. We tried Zacapa 23, Zacapa Negro and we tried a Colonial rum which is an artisan rum made by the Zacapa brand.
To end the night we headed to the public laundry square and there, there is a lady selling amazing Guatemalan street food. I tried four different things:
-Chuchitos
-Alot del Elote
-Rellenitos de Platano
-Tostada de Ensalada de Pollo
Each thing was amazing and I highly recommend visiting that lady when you head to Antigua. She gets there around 5:30pm.

ANTIGUA FREE WALKING TOUR | Best coffee in Antigua, Guatemala
As I learned on my Antigua Free Walking Tour, most Guatemalans don't consider Antigua to be a part of Guatemala - even though it is, of course. I also found the best coffee in Antigua.
Antigua, Guatemala used to pretty much be the capital of Central America. It's also the perfect place to stay during your travel to Guatemala. Here are some of the sights in the city and other things to do in Antigua, Guatemala!
Food and drink are fairly inexpensive here, as you might expect. But if you decide to get a coffee in Antigua's Central Park, expect to pay for it! My favorite coffee was at Cafe Barista. Now, I'm sure there's FAR better coffee at a plantation, but this is the best I had of all the coffee I tried in the shops.
Don't hate me if there's a better brew. I'm sure there is. ☕????
Backpackers and other travelers on a budget would do well to walk a little farther from the city center to the local cafes and coffee houses. Even some of the local hostels have excellent food and you can eat a full meal (sometimes too much food) for $5-6 USD or less.

Today we head out on a Guatemala City tour where we visit all the top attractions and we eat really authentic Guatemalan street food that you can only dream of.
Our first stop is the Guatemalan Typography Map where you can see what the country looks like with mountains, volcanoes and low lands. Next we head to Zone 1 (the historical center) and visit the central park. There we tried some fresh goat milk, saw the national palace, metropolitan cathedral and then head over the central market.
The central market is the biggest artisan market in Guatemala. We did a little shopping and then went to the lower level and ate some authentic Guatemalan street food. Here is a list of everything I tried:
-Pork Rind Taco
-Blood Sausage Taco
-Alot de Etole
-Tosta de Tomate
-Carrot Juice
-Chille Relleno Taco

Guatemalan STREET FOOD from the GODS in Lake Atitlan | Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala
On my second day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we explored Santiago Atitlan the most important town on Lake Atitlan. Here we tried some of the best street food in Guatemala!
Subscribe to Mariel de Viaje ►
My Film Making Kit ►
When we arrived in Santiago Atitlan we headed straight for Maya Patin a local street food on Lake Atitlan which is a small salted fish mixed with tomato paste in a banana leaf. It was salty and spicy, super delicious!
Next we continued up the town and we stop and had a spicy Guatemalan snow cone. It was a little spicy but the lime made it extra delicious!
We then visit Maximon, the Maya god or grandfather of Santiago Atitlan. The maya people of Santiago Atitlan believe that he protects the town. You can see him smoking cigarets and drinking! Pretty amazing experience!
To end our day in Santiago Atitlan we visited a local fish restaurant and ate some Black Bass. I had it with a white wine sauce and I also put some spicy sauce they had which was super spicy. Mariel challenged me and I won!
From there we crossed the lake back to Panajachel and drove 3 hours back to Guatemala City to the Real Intercontinental Guatemala. We had dinner at their Japanese restaurant Tanoshii. We went all out with three rolls of sushi, sashimi and sake!

GUATEMALA TRAVEL GUIDE || What to see, do, and eat!
Here it is! I'm so thrilled to release this Guatemala Travel Guide, and share Albion Fit's top places (& secrets) to visit! This trip was not only an adventure, but so incredibly inspiring. To be there alongside the owners of Albion Fit (who are an absolute HOOT), and see where so much of their inspiration comes from was seriously so cool. I'm convinced that Guatemala is one of the worlds best kept secrets with it's endless beauty, and welcoming culture. We had the pleasure of meeting the talented Albion Fit team, who make the visions become a reality, and to be honest, it was one of my highlights of the trip! To see the process and hard work that goes into each swimsuit and piece of apparel we had been wearing, was mind blowing. Everything was cut and sewn with such precision and care. If you're in the mood for an inspiring entrepreneur story, you gotta listen to theirs -- you will be blown away! Other than that, my favorite places were the waterfall hot spring (Finea El Paraiso) because it was beautiful and had HOT WATER streaming down the falls! Like, is this real life!? AND the adventure hike we did at 4am to the Tikal Mayan Ruins. Can you believe the sound of those howler monkeys!? They sound like dinosaurs of some sort. It was seriously such a thrill, and so beautiful when the sun came up. No wonder they shot Star Wars there (By the way, have you seen the new one? Call me a geek, but I lovedddd it.). Another one of my highlights was being there with my sister and brother-in-law, they motivated me to get out and exercise and it was actually super fun. We were running through little groups of school kids and trying to not get hit by busses in Antigua! Ha! Working out is something I rarely do on vacation, and I'm making it a must from now on.

On the first day in Guatemala we stayed the entire day at the hotel and ate traditional and gourmet maya Guatemalan food! To start we visited the Market restaurant there we tried Kak Ik soup and we also tried a flank steak with white cheese and black bean mash.
I hit up the spa for an amazing Cacao massage which was amazing! It felt like I was being covered with Nutella and then cooked! Such a great experience which I highly recommend!
For dinner we visited their Picasso restaurant and the chef prepared for us a food and drink pairing. These dishes were more gourmet maya Guatemalan food. My favorite was the tuna with avocado with smoke! It was unreal!

COFFEE FARM IN ANTIGUA GUATEMALA | HOW TO GROW COFFEE | COFFEE TASTING | ANTIGUA | GUATEMALA | EP.58
In this episode, let's visit a coffee farm in Antigua, Guatemala. I joined a coffee tour at the Felidelfia Coffee Resorts and Tours and learned how to grow coffee and how to process it.
Felidelfia is a huge property which has 900 acres of land to grow their beans. It also has its factory to wash and roast the beans. Besides it is farm, it also has a resort and many other kind of activities such as camping, bird watching, etc.
At the end of the tour, I had chance to taste an American and an Expresso in their volcano view restaurant. Their gift shop is full of coffee related products.
The tour is $20 including free shuttle (2 pickup points from downtown). It is available 3 times a day in both English and Spanish. If you join the same tour from an agency, they will charge you $25.
On their website, they have packages with tour and meals. I am not sure if the the food is good because I have never tried. But the environment is excellent.
As mentioned in the video, I didn't take the shuttler and walked by myself. The security did ask for my passport. Remember to prepare a copy if you are gonna do the same thing.

We started the day at 5:30am and drove three hours west to Chichicastenango. Are first stop in Chichicastenango was the arch of Gucumatz. This is the entrance to the city and also in the Maya religion to the under world!
We then walk through the whole city and I tried fresh orange juice, pupusas and home made ice cream. Everything was so good! From their we made are way to the Maya cemetery via the poultry market.
After exploring the maya cemetery we went all out shopping. I bought a ton of wood carved mask, Mariel bought some clothing and I bought a table runner for my wife.
We then visited Santo Tomas Church which is the most iconic spot in the city. It's famous because this church is a unified church between Catholicism and the Maya religion.
Next up we went to lunch at the Maya Inn hotel. He we tried some Culche and some Pepian de Pollo which is a traditional dish in Chichicastenango.
After exploring the whole town we drove back to Guatemala city and on the way we stopped at Iximche. This Maya archeological site is one of the most important because this is where the Spanish took country of the country.

I am not a coffee drinker, but of course if I am in Guatemala and doing a tour of a coffee farm in Antigua, then I need to try some coffee! This tour was super informative and entertaining. Our guide at Filadelfia Coffee Resort & Tours was funny and tried his best to help us understand the process of making Guatemala's famous coffee. Did you know that their largest export is to Japan? That's right, the Japanese love Guatemalan coffee. After hanging out at Filadelfia Coffee Resort & Tours for a bit, we then got on the road to Chiquimula where the group I was traveling with (Vivid Roots & Hopscotch the Globe) would be volunteering for the next few days.
On the way to Chiquimula, we stopped by San Antonio Aguas Calientes, which is a town in Guatemala famously responsible for creating most of the textiles and artisanal products. We went to the Mercado de Artesanias to see how the weavers create clothes, table clothes, hair tires, and more all by hand.
We then continued on our trek to Chiquimula, Guatemala! We finally arrived to our hotel, which was part of a horse ranch called Los Laureles (La Caballeriza). This hotel is beautiful by the way! If you want a relaxing retreat in Guatemala then hotel La Caballeriza is the place to go.

Our visit to Antigua guatemala 2019 was so incredible, we couldn't wait to come back. I'm attempting to record this trip to Antigua Guatemala 4k. We sample Antigua Guatemala food, which on this occasion, was just OK.
We try to enjoy the Antigua Guatemala nightlife, unfortunately, things closed a little early this evening. And we had to leave early the following morning anyway. Antigua Guatemala things to do is something we hope to demonstrate in this series of videos. Antigua Guatemala travel wasn't that expensive this visit. For one reason is was short, and I don't think that this is the high season either. We visited Casa de Jade Antigua Guatemala and even purchased a few trinkets while there. Want to know, como es Antigua Guatemala, just ask. como llegar a antigua guatemala, nightlife in Antigua Guatemala, walking in Antigua Guatemala, what to do in antigua guatemala, guatemala, antigua guatemala 2020, Guatemala City

COST OF LIVING IN ANTIGUA GUATEMALA (2019) | VISA EXTENSION | BANKING | ANTIGUA | GUATEMALA | EP. 54
In August, I stayed in Antigua, Guatemala for a month to continue learning Spanish. Antigua is a popular tourist area but it's not that touristy as I thought. However, cost of living is relatively expensive. That's from my own experience and comments from locals.
As usual, I will share my cost of living in different categories along with some local scenes. This August happened to rain a lot in the afternoon (not much rain in the previous 2 months which is weird). When It rains, the streets become a river. So, when the rain stopped, I ran to the closest supermarket to shock up for a few days.
There are a lot of restaurants in Antigua. They are not extremely expensive, just a little pricey. For cheap eats, there are many fast food shops, local or international. Pollo Campero is the Guatemala KFC.
Antigua is very close to Acatenango and Pacaya Volcano. There is no way you can ignore them. It's much safer and easier to join a tour.
It's not difficult to access to Antigua, only 1 hr by uber, if you are lucky. Locals also like to go there on the weekend.
Many foreigners like to retire in Antigua and they are mostly not living in central. Therefore, money that they need to spend will be less.
