Kyu- Furukawa Gardens : a combination of a Western and a Japanese garden
The Kyu Furukawa garden is located in Nishigahara (Kita-ku, Tokyo). The European styled estate as well as the garden have been designed by the British architect Josiah Conder in 1917 while the Japanese garden has been designed by Ogawa Jihei, a well-known designer in Kyoto.
The garden is “divided” in two parts. In the upper part near the villa there is a British lawn and a delightful rose garden while in the lower ground there is a Japanese garden with a pond in the shape of the character for heart (心字池) and a small waterfall.
The Rose garden has over 90 varieties of roses and a festival is held in spring and autumn to admire those which are in blossom; you can also enjoy cherry blossom , azalea, maples leaves and other variety of flowers and plants throughout the year.
After World War II the house was briefly used by the British Embassy.
Entrance fee is 150 yen.
This combination of Western and Japanese gardens in very unusual and if you like gardens you will not be disappointed.

1.Old Furukawa Garden
This is a metropolitan garden in Nishigahara, Kita-ku, Tokyo. In 1919 (Taisho 8), it was arranged in the present form (Western-style building, Western garden, Japanese garden) as the residence of Baron Furukawa Tonosuke Baron. Currently, it is a state-owned property and is borrowed from the Tokyo Metropolitan Area and is open to the public. It is designated as a scenic spot in the country. It is popular as a famous place for roses in Tokyo.

KyuFurukawa Garden is located in Kita-ku (Kita Ward), Tokyo, Japan. It has the Western-style garden (rose garden) and the Japanese gardens. Though the rose garden was not in full bloom, it was nice to see both colorful #autumn leaves and roses at the same time.

武蔵野台地の斜面と低地という地形を活かし、北側の小高い丘には洋館を建て、斜面には洋風庭園、そして低地には日本庭園を配したのが特徴です。
この庭園はもと明治の元勲・陸奥宗光の別邸でしたが、彼の次男が古河財閥の養子になった時、古河家の所有となりました。尚、この当時の建物は現存していません。
現在の洋館と洋風庭園の設計者は、英国人ジョサイア コンドル博士（1852～1920）です。博士は当園以外にも、旧岩崎邸庭園洋館、鹿鳴館、ニコライ堂などを設計し、我が国の建築界に多大な貢献をしました。
日本庭園の作庭者は、京都の庭師植治こと小川治兵衛（1860～1933）であり、彼は当園以外にも、山県有朋の京都別邸である無鄰庵、平安神宮神苑、円山公園、南禅寺界隈の財界人の別荘庭園などを作庭し、その後の造園界に多大な貢献をしました。
戦後、国へ所有権が移りましたが、地元の要望などを取り入れて、東京都が国から無償で借り受け、一般公開されました。
数少ない大正初期の庭園の原型を留める貴重な存在で、昭和57年8月4日に東京都文化財に指定されました。

The popular event of spring returns again this year to light up the precious gardens that remains the original form from the early Taisho period. The most stunning view is the colorful rose garden lit up by spotlights, etching the shapes of about 180 trees of 90 different types of roses in full bloom. The exotic vision of the Japanese garden and the Western-style manor house emerge against the darkness also make us wander into a magical land. Furthermore, Spring Rose Concert will be held on Saturdays and Sundays during the period. It surely warms up your special evening in spring.

Cherry blossom and carp streamer Festival in Tatebayashi Gunma
We celebrate May 5th as Boys' Day in Japan, and display a decoration called 'koinobori' (carp streamer) for the day.
This Festibal will open from 25 March to 10 April in 2016.
The number of raising carp , in 2005 it has been certified to world record.
