Watermills of Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina
This cluster of little wooden huts once ground local farmers’ wheat into flour during the days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Jajce, in the central region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a historic city all about falling water. Famous for its enormous waterfall in the middle of town, the meeting of two rivers – the Pliva and the Vrbas – established the region in the 14th century as the capital of the then Kingdom of Bosnia. There’s a town castle, old fortified city walls, high mountains and deep river valleys. And just downstream, in the area of the Pliva Lakes, is a collection of about 20 little huts that once served as watermills for local farmers.

10th May 2017 - Jajce And Travnik
Today I saw the towns of Jajce and Travnik and their forts.
Jajce has a waterfall right in the city centre . There was also a museum which houses the room in which Yugoslavia was formed.
In Travnik I also visited Plava Voda, a beautiful little stream surrounded by cafes and souvenir shops.
Sarajevo and Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina
This vlog Includes drone footage of Pliva Waterfall in Jajce.
Travel video blog about Sarajevo and Jajce in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also including some footage of Konjic.
After visiting Kravice Falls, Pocitelj, Blagaj and Mostar (see the link for this video at the bottom of this page), our next brief stop was Konjic for lunch then our final stop was the capital of in Bosnia and Hezergovina, Sarajevo.
Situated on the Miljacka river, Sarajevo is a charming city with a lot of history and some incredible architectural treasures. It is a place where the western and eastern empire split, and where the world war I commenced in 1914.
One of the first things I noticed upon arriving in Sarajevo was the weather, which was much colder than the other cities and countries we visited in the Balkans on that trip (September 2016- end of summer). During the day the weather was fine, sunny but still windy, but the evenings were very cold, the point that I had to buy gloves to go anywhere outdoors. We stayed in Bascarsija, which is the historic and cultural centre of the city and one of the major tourist attractions of Sarajevo. If you ever go to Sarajevo, this is the place you want to stay because it will allow you to easily walk to the main touristic attractions of town. Another benefit of staying in Bascarsija is that there are plenty of food choices there as the area is filled restaurants and cafes. I usually stay in hotels where the breakfast is provided, but In Bascarsija, I didn’t, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Every morning I would go out to a nearby cafe to enjoy fresh boreks for breakfast (baked filo pastries with fillings like cheese, meat, spinach or potato), following by Baklavas (sweet pastries filled with chopped nuts and covered in maple syrup or honey). Talking about food…another thing you must try while in Bosnia is cevapis, which are like skinless sausages made of beef or lamb.
Some of the places we visited in Sarajevo that you will see in this video are: the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, the latin bridge, the Sebilj or pigeon square, the inside of Sarajevo City Hall and the yellow fortress of Sarajevo, from where we recorded the panoramic views of the city.
After Sarajevo, on our way to Split in Croatia, we discovered another very pretty town in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Jajce. We were only there for a couple of hours but it was enough to fall in love the city. The most iconic landmark is undoubtedly the Pliva Falls, where we managed to fly our drone to get some spectacular aerial views of the falls. Another popular place to visit is the Jajce fortress, which can be seen from distance when you are near the falls.
This video was recorded with three cameras:
1. Go pro 4 in HD videos
2. Panasonic Lumix GX85 in 4K videos
3. Drone footage recorded with a DJ Phanton 3 standard

Join David’s Been Here as they travel all around Bosnia and Herzegovina in search of the coolest destinations and best day trips. In this travel short, David brings us 1-1.5 hours south of Banja Luka to the Medieval Ottoman town of Jajce. One of the ancient capitals of the Bosnian Kingdom (dating back to the 14th century) this city was captured by both the Ottomans and Hungarians, with some incredible historic sites to show for it. If you’re taking this unique day trip from Banja Luka, make sure you wander the medieval town, visit the city wall and castle… but don’t miss the Jajce Waterfall- it’s by far the coolest attraction in the region! If you’re looking for a quick visit in Bosnia & Herzegovina that combines rich history, local culture and beautiful landscapes/surroundings, a trip to Jajce is the perfect outing!

BOSNIA: JAJCE: HOUSES SET ON FIRE DELIBERATELY BY CROATS
Natural Sound
Houses appear to have been deliberately set ablaze in a Bosnian town - where Croatian forces are being made to relinquish control.
The fires could be clearly seen from a British IFOR helicopter which has overflown the Jajce area in central Bosnia.
Checking the peace from the air above central Bosnia.
A British Chinook helicopter was sent to the Jajce area after at least six fires suddenly started in houses just west of the town.
Officially the area is under the control of the Bosnian Croat militia and units of the Croatian army.
But those forces are due to withdraw under the Dayton peace accord.
No one has admitted responsibility for the destruction of the buildings.
But people on the ground - and in the air - have strong suspicions about who's to blame for this apparent scorched earth policy.

The internet is sadly becoming more and more toxic/negative, and when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the level of extreme racist, ethnic, nationalistic and other purely cruel comments has been really upsetting.
So, if you would like to engage (and we really hope you will/do) then please take the time to use our email address :)
