Melbourne Parks.. A Patch of Heritage at FRANKSTON Kananook Creek Reserve Melbourne Australia
Protect Local Heritage Inc, Pompeis Landing Pty Ltd. Frankston Fisher Boy dated 1897 is the cover picture of this video - The Australasian newspaper. Frankston - Seaford Kananook Creek Reserve follows parts of an old pre European days sand ridge that sat parallel to the creek. Today the boundaries are approx from Eel Race Road to Frankston Foreshore. There are an estimated 200 plus indigenous species that are located throughout this Reserve. The creek protector and advocate since 1970 being the Kananook Creek Association - congratulations for your decades of committment and service.. Transcript - Argus newspaper dated 9 August 1870 ...The low lands of Western Port are literally under water. There has been great mortality in live stock generally, and a great loss of lambs and weak sheep. The roads are all but wholly impassable. Even in the Sandy soils there are so many springs opening and such accumulations of loose quicksands, that roads usually sound after rain are now dangerous to vehicles and horsemen. The high winds accompanying the long-continued wet weather have caused the downfall of lines of fencing on the flats. The Carrum Swamp is enormously flooded; the low lands adjacent, stocked with cattle and sheep , are two to four feet deep under water, and as the creeks fed from the swamp and communicating with the sea are vastly inadequate to carry off quickly such an enormous volume of flood-water, it will probably accumulate and stand back over a large extent of fenced, stocked, and cropped lands. No scheme of drainage will suffice to carry off quickly such an enormous volume as is brought down to the swamp in this and similar floods by the Dandenong and Eumemmering creeks, and the large drainage channels cut by the district road boards, unless a large outlet to the sea from the nearest point of the swamp's centre be a leading feature thereof. From the head of the Kananook to the sea is under 200 yards, while the course of the Kananook Creek thence to its mouth is nearly six miles. The tea-tree chocking the rapid pent-up storm waters, the sea mouth is always choked with drifted sand. There was recently a great rush of selectors to peg out portions of the Mordialloc Common and adjacent swamp lands, and great annoyance was expressed by applicants when told it was reserved for drainage. Their pegs are now under water and no means of reaching them but by boats.....

65. Frankston Holiday Park, Frankston Victoria
It wasn't easy to find accommodation on the Mornington Peninsula which allowed pets until we found Frankston Holiday Park at Frankston. New managers had just began at the park and they were friendly and very good.
The original house now provides bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and lounges, all in excellent condition.
There is a pool available and Free wifi with 500 meg per day. I had good Telstra and Vodafone coverage.
The sites are very large and there is a pool in the complex also.
The park is closely located to shops and the beach and it is pet friendly.
The cost for us as 3 adults was $46 per night.
Our stay was 9-11th January 2017
