Gaijin Guide in Shinjuku and Kabuki Cho
The Gaijin Guide travels to Shinjuku and Kabuki Cho. Come take a look at Japan and its urban metropolis.
Shinjuku (新宿区) is home to the world's busiest railway station (seeing over 2 million passengers a day), some of Tokyo's tallest buildings, and the Metropolitan Government Office, which has two observation floors that offer stunning views of the metropolis and are free to the public. Other notable sights and stops in this ward are the gigantic department and discount electronic stores including Yodobashi Camera. Also located right around Shinjuku Station is KabukiCho.
Kabukicho (歌舞伎町) is a red-light district, which houses many hostess bars, host bars, and love hotels. It is also a major shopping, restaurant, and nightclub area as well. The district's name comes plans to build a kabuki theater on is present spot in the late-1940s. Though the theater was never built, the name stuck.

BANNED Japanese travel video: Shinjuku
Here's a fun little video the Gaijin Channel crew put together to promote travel to Japan, with a nod to some of the fun absurdities that have attracted many of us to Japan in the first place: giant monsters and the culture of so-cute-it's-scary.

MY FIRST TIME in Shinjuku - Japan
Shinjuku is definitely my favorite place in the world. Everything is so busy in this business district of Tokyo.
My friend and I ended up having some fresh sushi for lunch at the Takashimaya Shinjuku Department Store before we parted our ways. During the evening I just lounged around the district taking pictures and interacting with locals.

新宿 立ちんぼ Talk to hookers in Shinjuku, Tokyo
If you are looking for something eccentric in Tokyo, Shinjuku is the right place.
There are two places you can meet hookers in Shinjuku. One is Shin-okubo, the other is Kabukicho.
It takes only a few minute walk from JR Shin-Okubo station to get to the first street and about five minute walk from JR Shinjuku station(East exit)to get to the second street in Kabukicho.
They frequently appear after 9pm according to my obeservation.

WHY I HATE JAPAN: ROPPONGI
Hey everybody, I threw all the reasons I hate Roppongi:
-Place is too expensive or places are too cheap, but then rip you off
-Asshole touts that drag you into their clubs
-People get drugged and have their money stolen there
-Police don't give a shit, they are just happy it's all happening there
LAST ADVICE ABOUT ROPPONGI:
Avoid small bars, go with friends, never trust people trying to get you off the street to go to their bar, never bring credit cards or a lot of cash with you to Roppongi, don't ever expect the cops to help you if shit hits the fan . Be cautious, watch your drink.

Japan Apartment Tour - Furnished Studio in Kagurazaka Tokyo
This apartment is located in Kagurazaka, Shinjuku-ku and was quite expensive. It can be rented for 1 week, 1 month, or 3 months - I opted for the 3 month deal.
It came out to around ¥150,000 monthly with all furnishings and utilities included. 20m2 :(
I later moved down the hall to a slightly larger version that was 29m2 and that place was 180,000 monthly.
I rented through Tokyo21Monthly, they were really helpful, took care of any maintenance I needed, and didn't require any key money, deposits, anything.
Feel free to ask about apartment hunting, maintenance, or anything else about living in Tokyo!

Inside a Japanese Share House in Ikebukuro, Tokyo (Sakura House)
On my recent trip to Japan in January, I decided to try out a share house. I reserved a month at Sunshine City Ikebukuro via Sakura House. Before reserving a private room at the share house, I wanted to see/know more about it.
How does the entire place look like? How's the surrounding areas? Is it safe? How big exactly is the kitchen? Etc. Sakura House had a few pics of this on their website, but I just wanted more. So after reserving the place, I decided to provide exactly what I wanted to see before I reserved.
So I created a tour of the entire place, including the room I reserved, and a quick look of the surrounding area. Thus, this is the video I wish I saw before reserving. And actually, a video example I only hope to see other companies implement for those who want to reserve a place but want to see/know more.

Most Shady Place in Japan: Kabukicho, Shinjuku | Tokyo's Red Light District
Shinjuku is one of the most famous metropolitan cities in Tokyo. It is also a great place to grab some drinks with friends. However, there are a few areas that can be a little dangerous if you don't know what to look out for. Kabukicho, Shinjuku's Red Light District and home of the Robot Restaurant, is one of those areas. Kabukicho is an area filled with bars, restaurants, host and hostess clubs, as well as love hotels. Kabukicho's name came from the late 40's plan to build kabuki theater in that area, that while was not built, the name stuck. One of the dangerous things about Kabukicho is the kyaku-hiki or pulling in of customers by staff of hostess clubs and certain bars. There are a few clubs and bars that will overcharge for drinks, have hidden fees, or worst case scenario slip drugs into your drinks. While this is a rare occurance, it does happen and can cause some real problems for those that cannot speak Japanese. Kabukicho isn't all bad, but if you do end up there just make sure to be careful.
