Gardens of Stone
Part of the lap of 1/2 NSW Leigh & I did in September 2013. Gardens of Stone National Park in the area north of Lithgow & east of Capertee. I used to drive/ride past this area regularly. I didn't know what was in there until after internet forums kicked off & I read about other peoples riding areas. It's rugged and we wanted to see how far we could get Tiger Trek.
Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley
The Wolgan Valley is formed by the Wolgan River in rugged mountainous country west of Sydney and north of the city of Lithgow. It flows broadly east until it joins the Capertee River, after which it becomes the Colo River. The latter then continues east through rugged wilderness country. The Wolgan Valley includes sections of the Wollemi National Park and the Gardens of Stone National Park.
The valley was inhabited by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years, but the First European settlement occurred around 1823, when James Walker used the valley as an outstation from his Wallerawang settlement. It is best known for its historic railway tunnel and the former Commonwealth Oil Corporation shale oil mining operations at Newnes.
The Railway tunnel formed part of a 50km long heavy haul line between Newnes and Newnes junction on the main western railway. 4 heavy Shay type locomotives were used to haul the products of the works at Newnes up grades as steep as 1 in 25.
The name of the Wolgan Valley is derived from wolga, a local Australian Aboriginal language name for the climbing plant, Clematis aristata, found in coastal regions of the South-East states of Australia.
Within the Wolgan Valley there are several significant Aboriginal sites. These include Blackfellows Hand which is a collection of Aboriginal hand stencils located near Wolgan Gap, and several Aboriginal burial sites.
The bush walking trails in the area include the Pipeline Pass, which goes from Newnes to Glen Davis,[2] and the Wolgan Valley Heritage Trail (see links below), as well as the track from Newnes to the Glowworm Tunnel. There are also camping grounds that are open to the public. The valley also contains numerous slot canyons and is popular for rockclimbing.
Commercial tourism came to the valley in 2009 in the form of the Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa. This project was opened by Emirates Hotels and Resorts after examining several sites in Australia.[3]

Troth - Nothing Still In The Stone Garden [Altered States Tapes / 2019]
'Nothing Still In The Stone Garden' was an installation by Troth as part of ‘Fused’ at Watt Space Gallery in Newcastle, Australia. Running for the event’s duration. The work comprises hand-cut reel-to-reel and cassette audio loops paired with a film projection shot in Glen Davis, NSW created by their friend, filmmaker Gregory Perano.
For the Newcastle Music Festival event held at Watt Space, Besseny and Bowman created an accumulative live performance from within the loops surrounding them, an excerpt of which appears here. The room began the exhibition in silence and slowly sounds, both from the machines and the people working with them, entered until the performance was complete and all that remains is the dialogue between what now moves of it's own volition.

Newnes October Long Weekend 2014
A weekend that was too good not to share. Perfect weather in an absolutely beautiful part of the country, Newnes. We had an action packed time beginning with a trip down Starlight Canyon to see the thousands of glow worms in the pitch black tunnel. This was a full day trip with plenty of abseils and spectacular scenery along the pipeline track passing over the range. The following day found us rockclimbing the Coke Oven crag just above the industrial ruins of the abandoned oil shale refinery at Newnes, once a town with over 2,500 people. Next day was a 4wd adventure to the Glow Worm tunnel on the Newnes Plateau via Blackfellows Hand Trail. We had some fun with some Landrovers on the way. We returned back to camp and enjoyed an evening in front of the fire with marshmallows and hot chocolate in our picture perfect campsite. Next morning we headed up out of Wolgan Valley over the gap and headed North West along The Bicentenial National Trail finding our way through The Gardens of Stone National Park and into The Capertee Valley. After some careful 4wd negotiation down a steep rock ledge being careful not to let the car get away from us and hit a tree head on we had lunch at Baal Bone Gap before making our way to Glen Davis to view more ruins from the shale mining days. The return trip was just as exciting where we found ourselves on the wrong side of the Coxs River which needed to be crossed in order to get back to camp (the short way). It was quite deep and came up to the top of the bonnet and without a second vehicle or a winch there was a few nervous moments during the crossing. After our final nights sleep surrounded by large numbers of wombats, possums, frogs, kangaroos and thousands of birds we packed up and sadly said goodbye to our piece of paradise. On the return trip home we stopped off at Katoomba for some great wood fired pizza at the railway hotel before taking a visit to The Three Sisters. Then it was off to Wentworth Falls where we made our way down the stairs cut into the side of the cliff on the National Pass walking track, after which it was a very steep climb back up. Apparently Avira got tired doing it. So that is a brief summary of our October Long Weekend 2014, hope you enjoy it and be rest assured that we will be going back to Newnes in the not too distant future. Hope to see you there!

SUMMARY
=======
The Brabourne Stadium is a cricket ground in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The ground is owned by the Cricket Club of India (CCI). The North Stand of the Brabourne housed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters and the 1983 Cricket World Cup trophy until 2006 when both were moved to the newly built Cricket Centre at the nearby Wankhede Stadium.
The Brabourne Stadium hosted Test matches from 1948 to 1972, and was the venue for Bombay Pentangular matches from 1937 until 1946. After disputes over ticketing arrangements with the CCI, the Bombay Cricket Association (BCA) built the Wankhede Stadium a few hundred metres north of Brabourne Stadium. After the Wankhede Stadium was built, Brabourne was no longer used for Test matches, although visiting teams played a few first-class matches at the ground. Apart from cricket, the ground has played host to tennis and football matches as well as music shows and concerts.
In recent times, international cricket has returned to the Brabourne; it played host to the ICC Champions Trophy in 2006 and it was the venue for the first Twenty20 International played in India in 2007. Brabourne hosted a Test match in December 2009 after 36 years, thus creating a record for the biggest gap between two tests at the same ground. The ground was home to the Mumbai Indians, Several matches of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2013 were held here. At its AGM in September 2013, the BCCI unanimously decided to allot international matches as per its rotation policy thereby bringing the ground back as a regular international venue. BCCI also used this stadium on 29 May 2014 for IPL playoffs that is eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. In IPL 2015 the venue was secondary home ground to the Rajasthan Royals.
4x4 Baal Bone Gap - Gardens of Stone
In this 4x4 video we have a good mix of 4wd vehicles head through the Gardens of Stone and up Baal Bone Gap then finish of at the Wolgan Valley Lookout. This was a fun trip would be considered easy to medium with some spectacular scenery.
Amongst the Nissans, Land Rovers and Toyota we had the pleasure of having 3 X - Australian Army Vehicles known as Perenties join us. Great looking trucks, built tough with a galvanised chassis and a 3.9ltr Isuzu power plant. The Perentie is based on the Land Rover 110.

SJC part 1- Genowlan Point and Mt Airly - Jurassic Park NSW
After a 30 year campaign, two dramatic plateaus, Genowlan Mtn and Mt Airly in the Capertee Valley have been reserved as the 3,600 hectare Mugii Murum-ban State Conservation Area. This scenic and biologically diverse area is a key part of the Gardens of Stone reserve. Col Ribaux was the pioneer diamond miner who built the trails and allowed responsible 4wd. He's retired and sold his mining lease but still lives here.
The trail winds it's way through the 300 Sisters of the mesa rock formations endemic in the area. We pass through wet valleys that are very Jurrasic Park, and climb to a plateau that hosts a number of endangered ecological communities and one of Australia's most threatened plants - the Genowlan Point pea.
Newnes (Starlight) Canyon, Wollemi, NSW
A day trip from Newnes through Newnes canyon (also known as Starlight canyon) in Wollemi national park, NSW, Australia. 13 May 2012.
Wetsuits weren't required, however, being late in the season and seeing as the temperature was 2 degrees at the car and -1 overnight, we wore wetsuits just in case, the water was only knee-deep so we would've been warmer in a thermal and gore-tex.
