MIA Paranormal Investigates Fort Erie
On April 27, 2013, MIA Paranormal investigated Fort Erie, a fort used during the war of 1812, a war between the United States and the British colony of Canada. During the height of the War, hundreds of 1812 soldiers lost their life at the fort. MIA was in search for evidence that suggests that the spirits of these soldiers still linger around the fort. The night did not disappoint. All MIA members had personal experiences, we caught entity pic,s and caught many EVPs on our recording devices.

HISTORIC OLD FORT NIAGARA
BUILD BY THE FRENCH 1678–1759
CAPTURED BY THE BRITISH 1759–1796
UNITED STATES 1815–1963
RESTORED 1927
U.S. ARMY 1815–1963
U.S. COAST GUARD 1963–present
The fort played an important role in the struggles of France, Great Britain, and the United States to control the Great Lakes region of North America, and also helped shape the destinies of the Six Nations peoples and the nation of Canada.
Three-hundred years of history, the site of historic battles and sieges, trading and conquest, Old Fort Niagara is an exciting place where the past comes to life.
Fort grounds and buildings, including the original French Castle. The 22-acre Old Fort Niagara State Historic Site and beautiful point where the Niagara River enters Lake Ontario.
ENTRANCE- Gate of the Five Nations: This gate, with its moat, ramp, drawbridge and head house, served as the main entrance throughout French, British and US.
SOUTH BLOCKHOUSE: A peculiarity of these blockhouses is the construction which permits complete dismantling of the roof on short notice in case of attack, thus obviating the danger of flying splinters from direct hits of artillery fire.
HISTORICAL INSTITUTE: Many portraits in oil of historic characters of early Niagara and the conquest of mid-America.
Pouchot's Powder Magazine, built in 1757, a storehouse for ammunition.
STORE / BLACKSMITH SHOP/WORK SHOP: This building is used for the same purpose today as by the French nearly 200 years ago. The workshops are in daily use for the and maintenance of the Old Fort and therefore closed to the public, but the trading post at the west end, is used as shop of souvenirs of Old Fort Niagara.
HOT SHOT OVEN: This small, stone furnace was used to heat cannon balls red‑hot before they were fired, the object being to ignite the target, such as a ship in the river, a fortification or other inflammable equipment of an enemy.
THE MILLET CROSS. An eighteen‑foot cross named after Fr. Pierre Millet
THE CASTLE

Castle consists of
Trade Room,Entrance Hall,Haunted Well,Bakery-Kitchen,Military Kitchen,Council Chamber,Guard House or Garrison Prison.
Powder Magazine,Guard Room,Off duty guard room.

War of 1812 in the Old Northwest
In 1812, a very young United States of America had its sights set on expansion to the north and the west. But the British wanted to keep its former colony tightly contained. In the balance were the lands of the Northwestern Frontier.
England's Canadian provinces wanted a buffer zone between their lands and what they perceived as a hostile United States. The native peoples who called this land their home, wanted it declared a self-governing Indian territory; an independent nation. The United States wanted to settle the frontier, as they felt they had been promised at the end of the Revolutionary War.
The frontier was a gateway to further western expansion; a Great Lakes highway to natural resources; and a military challenge to the combatants.
The War of 1812 would decide who controlled the lands of the Northwestern Frontier, and the future of a continent.
United States Army
The United States Army (USA) is the main branch of the United States Armed Forces responsible for land-based military operations. It is the largest and oldest established branch of the U.S. military, and is one of seven U.S. uniformed services. The modern army has its roots in the Continental Army which was formed on 14 June 1775, to meet the demands of the American Revolutionary War before the establishment of the United States. The Congress of the Confederation officially created the United States Army on 3 June 1784 after the end of the Revolutionary War to replace the disbanded Continental Army. The army considers itself to be descended from the Continental Army and thus dates its inception from the origins of that force.
The primary mission of the army is to fight and win our Nation's wars by providing prompt, sustained land dominance across the full range of military operations and spectrum of conflict in support of combatant commanders. The army is a military service within the Department of the Army, one of the three military departments of the Department of Defense. The army is headed by the Secretary of the Army, and the top military officer in the department is the Chief of Staff of the Army. The highest ranking army officer is currently the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. During fiscal year 2011, the Regular Army reported a strength of 546,057 soldiers; the Army National Guard (ARNG) reported 358,078 and the United States Army Reserve (USAR) reported 201,166 putting the combined component strength total at 1,105,301 soldiers.
