Scenic Gates Pass Road in Tucson Mountain Park - February 15, 2013
One of the most scenic drives in Tucson, Arizona, Gates Pass Road is where you can observe a great desert landscape populated by saguaros on steep mountain slopes and see truly spectacular sunsets. I made sure to stop at the popular Gates Pass Road overlook around sunset so I could snap a few photos. I've included them near the end of this video.

A Drive Through the Saguaro National Park, Tucson, Arizona
There is no missing the Saguaro cactus all along the Saguaro National Park road shown in the video. They're everywhere. Though plentiful around Tucson, Saguaros are actually a rare species of cactus that grows only in the Sonoran desert of Arizona, Mexico and Southern California. They're fascinating plants with arms shooting skyward and a symbol of the American West around the world. There is no better place than the Saguaro National Park to learn about them. I visited the Park on February 15, 2013.
Golden Gate Mt, Tucson Arizona
Golden Gate Mountain is a scenic peak located in the heart of the Tucson Mountains. It reaches some 4,288 ft and offers some of the best views in the area and contains some stunning desert scenes. The mountain range is also home to numerous hiking and biking trails with options for all fitness levels, so there'll be something for everyone.
The Tucson Mountains is one of four mountain ranges that surround the city, the others being The Santa Ritas, The Santa Catalinas and The Rincons. Of these, the Tucson Mountains are the lowest, barely rising out of the desert, with all the others seeing snow on their peaks. However, the mountains still offer some fantastic views and are home to stunning scenery with fantastic photo opportunities.
The Tucson Mountains themselves offer some great sight-seeing opportunities, and not only for the views once at the top. Littered throughout are pieces of rock art, copper mines and Hohokam ruins, offering great opportunities for exploration.
Of the Tucson Mountains, Golden Gate is the second highest peak and although there isn't a commercial route to the summit there are plenty of options to get there.
The mountain offers the perfect backdrop for Western movies, with a number of scenes being filmed there over the years. Full of boulders and fantastic desert panoramas, once at the top visitors will be able to find amazing views of the surrounding area.
The Golden Gate Mountain is also home to numerous points of interest as well as several popular biking and hiking trails. Although not particularly challenging in terms of height, the terrain encountered can make trails strenuous. However, for seasoned hikers or mountain bikers the terrain also makes it much more enjoyable, and gives something to challenge themselves with.
One popular trail is the Golden Gate Trail, a particularly technical trail for cyclists but also with stunning scenery as they ride. There aren't any trailheads or maps and it can be tricky to find, and beware of travelling alone as the unmarked junctions can lead some inexperienced cyclists into the desert! However, for many it's a very enjoyable and challenging trail with plenty to see.
The summit of Golden Gate Mountain offers some spectacular views of Tucson and the surrounding area and has some great hiking and biking trails to the top. It's sure to appeal to both locals and visitors alike, and even just a leisurely stroll through the desert scenery can provide some great photo opportunities. Golden Gate Mountain is well worth a visit when you're in the area.

Trail Dust Town is a historical outdoor shopping center located in Tucson, Arizona.
Another video Trail Dust Town, part 1
Although Trail Dust Town operates as a for-profit shopping mall, on its grounds exists a great number of historical artifacts, including an Allan Herschell merry-go-round which was manufactured in 1954 that still contains its original horses and benches. Trail Dust Town is also home to a non-profit history museum; Museum of the Horse Soldier. The museum chronicles the history of U.S. mounted military service. It is notable for having one of the nation's largest public displays artifacts from the era of the military horse, including original period saddles, uniforms, weapons, firearms, and ephemera. Since the museum's incorporation in Jan. 2013, it has received recognition from around the world, including the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), History Channel, Discovery Channel, Arizona Highways, and multiple publications. Some of the museum's highlights include the only Civil War collection available to the public in the state of AZ and rare U.S. military saddles from the 1830s-present day. This unique and rare collection of original historical items makes this the gem of Trail Dust Town.
