About This Video:
Mandavi Beach is located in the vicinity of Ratnagiri Town of Maharashtra. This beach, which extends up to Rajiwada Port, is bordered by Ratnadurg Fort to its west and the Arabian Sea to its south.
Mandavi Beach is known for its black sand and hence, the beach is often referred to as ‘Black Sea’. This beach is also known as ‘Gateway to Ratnagiri’, owing to the presence of the bastion situated at the head of the bay. Mandavi Beach is one of the busiest beaches in Maharashtra, as it is popular among water sports enthusiasts.

Jijamata Udayan Thiba point, a popular view point, is situated near the Thibaw Palace. One can have a mesmerizing view of Someshwar creek, Bhatye Bridge and Arabian Sea from this point. This place is also famous for the beautiful Sunset.

4. Lighthouse Ratnagri
Ratnagiri Lighthouse is situated in the Ratnagiri Fort, Ratnagiri Lighthouse stands on the southern bastion known as Siddha Buruj of this horse shoe shaped fort. A small passage by the side of fort wall leads to this lighthouse. The lighthouse was built to guide ships traveling in the Arabian Sea as well as to keep vigil. Initially constructed as a stone mound in the 1800s, the lighthouse was rebuilt and improved along the way by first constructing a 10 m brick and stone tower with a wick lamp in 1867 which was later replaced in the 1940s with a 12.5 m steel tower with a gas flashing light. Now the lighthouse has a 15 m tower with a metal halide lamp, a radio beacon, and storm warning equipment.

Situated between the towns of Ratnagiri and Ganpatipule, Arey Beach and Ware Beach are connected twin beaches, jointly known as Arey-Ware Beach.
Make a mandatory stop at the untouched Arey-Ware Beach while you drive along the scenic coastal route from Ratnagiri towards Ganpatipule. From the hill-top, enjoy the stunning view of the vast expanse of the lively blue sea, one of the prettiest sights in all of Konkan.
