GAULARFJELLET - LIKHÅLESFOSSEN 4K
Filmed summer 2017 in Norway, Gaularfjellet
A journey along the road leading across Gaular, the mountain between Dragsvik and the Sognefjord, is a serene experience where the quality is in the details. The drive skirts the fjord before snaking up towards the highest point of Gaularfjellet. At the rest area at Utsikten you can admire the panorama of mountains and valleys. The road follows Gaularvassdraget, one of the few watercourses that is protected, offering everything from wild rapids and waterfalls to calm stretches where the water glides quietly on its way. Simply driving along the watercourse and following the natural route the water takes in its descent is a wonderful experience, but if you go on foot you can be at one with nature. A continuous “waterfall path” of almost 25 km has been established from Nystølen to Eldal. You can walk the entire length or just take a short stroll to admire the watercourse at close hand. For many people the bridge over the Likholefossen waterfall is a highlight, since it provides a feeling of being in the midst of the swirling cascade.

- The video section showing the smartphone with the running Hybrid Assistant app is copied and moved a little bit to the right to make room for the overlays. This produces strange effects at rare moments, but allows to see the complete smartphone display at all times.
- The elevation numbers are inaccurate in forests (tree tops seen as surface), tunnels (surface above tunnel or elevation at entrance) and when there is higher or lower ground near the road.

Terrifying Viewpoint Gaularfjell on Norway's National Tourist Route Gaularfjellet
If you are afraid of heights you may want to give this nail-biting viewing platform coming to Norway a miss. Construction for a futuristic podium called Viewpoint Gaularfjell is underway, which will feature a three-spiked structure that stretches out over the mountainous terrain. Visitors will be able to climb steep slab-like staircases, two of which are suspended over vast drops. Located near the country's west coast, the unusual structure aims to showcase the scenic surroundings without being too obtrusive. The structure is a triangular concrete surface, with corners pointing towards north, south and west. Norwegian architecture firm Code have released images and a timelapse video of the unusual Viewpoint Gaularfjell being built. Perched 2,300 feet above sea level, the precarious location is said to have made transporting materials, and developing the spikes, a challenge. Workers are said to be making the final phase touches to the simple structure, which is scheduled to open in summer this year. When it opens, visitors to Norway's National Tourist Route Gaularfjellet will be able to experience the scenic stopover during their road trips. The viewpoint follows the construction of a similarly terrifying structure which opened in China last year. The horseshoe-shaped glass walkway in Chongqing extends 87.5ft from the edge of a cliff, allowing visitors to feel as though they are walking on air with the valley floor 2,350ft below their feet. Located in the Longgang National Geological Park in south-west China, the bridge has been named Yuanduan, meaning ‘at the end of the clouds’. It can accommodate up to 200 visitors at once, with each one paying an admission fee to spend 30 minutes on the see-through floor.

The tunnel is under rehabilitation, rock fell from the roof of the tunnel, the tunnel was closed for 5 hours before it was safe to drive through. It was too long to wait, so I drove a detour home and filmed it.
