Places to see in ( Getaria - Spain )
Getaria is a coastal town located in the province of Gipuzkoa, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, in the North of Spain. This coastal village of Getaria is located on the Urola Coast, with Zarautz to the east and Zumaia to the west.
Getaria is known for being Juan Sebastián Elcano’s hometown, a seaman well-known for being the first man to circumnavigate the earth. He was captain of the Nao Victoria, the one ship in Magellan's ill-fated fleet which completed the voyage.
Today, Getaria is also famous for its restaurants serving grilled fish and a white wine with a protected designation of origin which is cultivated in the surroundings of this coastal town and takes the name of Getariako Txakolina. Moreover, the Cristobal Balenciaga Museum is also located in the village of Getaria .
Thus, its most famous sons are Juan Sebastián Elcano, captain of the Nao Victoria, Admiral Miguel de Oquendo, who commanded the Guipúzcoa Squadron of the Spanish Armada, the explorer Domingo de Bonechea, and the couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre. In May 2012, a two-man team from Getaria won Google's Model Your Town competition by creating a complete 3D representation of their hometown.
The municipality of Getaria occupies a section of the central coast of Gipuzkoa in the Cantabrian Sea. This section of the coast consists of a steep ledge on which a series of coves and points have formed through erosion. The historic centre of Getaria is located just between the mainland and the mountain San Antón, also called the mouse of Getaria due to its mouse-like shape. This mountain that characterizes the town, was an island until the 16th century. In the interior part of the township, the mountain Garate (278 m) is located. This mountain runs parallel to the coast, and in its smooth skirts lie several farms belonging to the township of Getaria. These farms are typical of the Basque Country and they are called baserri. Nearly all the land situated between the mountain Garate and the coast is covered in vineyards due to the microclimate that this area generates.

Getaria
Getaria is a town that is known in the area as a fishing port. It's claim to fame is from Juan Sebastian Elcano (the statue in the video is in his honor) who was the first man to sail around the world. He sailed with Magellan's fleet and was the captain of the only boat that returned from that journey. Today, as you pray for this town, would you pray that once again people from Basque Country would travel all around the world, this time sharing the good news of Jesus. Pray also for a family of Jesus followers that we know in this town that they would be lights in this place.
Getaria Guipúzcoa, San sebastián, País Vasco, Usotegi Agroturismo Casa Rural
Today we are in Getaria to visit USOTEGI
The village is located on the coast of Guipúzcoa, next to the Mouse of Getaria, which seems to protect its fishing port, near the typical fish restaurants are grilled.
The rural house is located about 900 meters from the village center. It is a new farmhouse, with five double rooms with bathroom, a luxurious suite and two large apartments, also has fireplace, living area and kitchen.
We speak with Aitzpea and tell us how the illusion of his parents, was always to replace the old family farmhouse, for this modern agrotourism. He says that being in front of USOTEGI is one of the best decisions he has made in his life.
USOTEGI offers you excellent views over Getaria and the sea, surrounded by vineyards, is a spectacular place to spend a holiday, relax and enjoy nature.

speed contest in the port of Zumaia
Zumaia: NO GRACIAS.
Zumaia: NON MERCI.
Speed limit: 3 knts. Guess how fast these boats go (at 3 knts there should be no bow wave and a flat wake). Port authorities do nothing, so anybody runs faster and faster, local people (small fishing boats), motorboats and even sailboats. Zumaia: NO, THANKS.

Episode 3 - Landfall in northern Spain and San Sebastian
Cecienne continues her journey into North East Spain, reaching the coastal cities of San Sebastian and Getaria, both famed for their gastronomy and cultural events.
San Sebastian boasts one of the finest beaches in Europe – and for those looking for a destination to relax in the sun Getaria is a busy fishing port with rustic Spanish charm. However, both destinations offer only short-term mooring and maybe not the best facilities for your boat.
John and his crew explore longer-term mooring and amenities a little further west along the coast to Zumaia, a town offering full marina facilities and more activities to enjoy on shore. Zumaia is also a great base to stock up before travelling further west along the Spanish coast…
