Giant's Head Mountain Park - Hiking & Biking in Summerland BC South Okanagan

Trail to peak of Giant's Head Mountain in Summerland, BC. Trail is steep in places but no climbing is required. Length is 1.6 KM from trailhead to summit and elevation gain is approx 350 m (1050 ft). Time from base to top is approx 25-40 minutes and 20-30 minutes coming down, depending on ability of hikers. Not recommended for dogs (you are in direct sunlight all the way and no watering holes). In short, a good quick hike to get your heart rate up and with a beautiful view of the Okanagan at the top.

Directions:

Trailhead is about 100m up Milne Rd at Giant's Head Rd.

Very windy up on Giants Head rock in Summerland Okanagan BC interior and Daddy/Grandad struggled up really out of shape. No wonder all the wild fires were blazing with that wind. I could blame the smoke throughout the region for my cardiovascular collapse (it might be pizza though).

Driving from Penticton north towards Summerland with Giant's Head rock in centre view. After I got to Alan & Liz's in Summerland & changed clothes I hiked to the top of the Giant's Head rock and picked up a nice little artistic garden rock for neighbour Kevinettes front garden.

The resort offers a lot of choice - seadoo/kayaks/boats for rent, excellent quality tennis courts just steps away (rackets and balls for free), and of course the lake and beach on the premise. There's a great playground and water park nearby too. The bbq common area overlooks the beach and lake and is surprisingly very cozy. The location of the resort is wonderful... easy 20 minute drives to Peachland, Penticton, and Naramata The resort felt peaceful and relaxing even during this peak time ... I would not hesitate to stay here again.
