Gitgit Waterfall Buleleng North Bali
Gitgit Waterfall Buleleng North Bali
A popular stop between Singaraja and Denpasar, Gigit Waterfall is considered to be one of the most beautiful on the island. Easy to reach from the road, the falls have a drop of 131 feet (40-meter) into a picturesque pool where visitors can swim. There are actually three falls in the area—the other falls being smaller twin waterfalls. All are signposted from the road and reached by a short hike.
Things to Know Before You Go :
- You can swim, or at least splash, in all three Gitgit falls just about year-round. Bring your bathing suit: There are simple changing rooms.
- Local myth claims that couples who visit Gitgit together will ultimately split up.
- Souvenir vendors can be persistent. A raised hand and a polite “no thank you” will often do the trick. The hike to the main falls is well made but includes stairs.
How to Get There :
The Gitgit falls sit on the main road between Denpasar (and south Bali) and Singaraja, on the north coast. Unless you speak enough Indonesian to negotiate the “bemo” minibus system, they are not accessible by public transport. It’s possible to self-drive, but most visitors prefer to join a tour or arrange a private driver/guide, and combine the trip to the falls with visits to Bedugul, Lovina, or north Bali.

Gitgit Waterfall is located in North bali. It is very near to Lovina and the old island capital Singaraja. We had to walk a good distance from main Road to reach this beautiful multi waterfall. Taking bath under this waterfall was a memorable experience. It was my first time to see clove field and many unique wild flowers on the way.

Road trip to Gitgit waterfall in Bali, Indonesia
During the month I spent in Bali, I managed to visit two waterfalls, both very popular among tourists, but at the same time, spectacularly beautiful. The first was Tengenungan, located very close to Ubud and quite crowded, and the second one I’m going to talk about in this article is Gitgit, located in the north of the island, in the village with the same name, at a distance of about 2 and a half hours of Seminyak.

Gitgit Waterfall is about 40m tall and apparently the best known waterfall in Bali -- just south of Singaraja, and less than 1km off a main road, so it's fairly accessible.

Gitgit Waterfall, Singaraja, Bali - Indonesia
From Wikipedia.
Gitgit Waterfall is a waterfall on Bali, Indonesia. It is located on the north of the Southeast Asian island, not too far from Lovina and the old island capital Singaraja. The falls are a popular tourist destination in Bali for the bridge walkway and cool water. The falls are located in Gitgit Village, Sukasada District, and about 10 km from Singaraja town, or about 70 km from Denpasar.
Gitgit Waterfall is one of Bali’s most popular, located only a 10km drive south of North Bali’s main town of Singaraja, or an 80km drive north from Kuta. The falls are easily accessible from the main road connecting Bedugul and Singaraja, and is usually included as a natural landmark stopover on tour itineraries to Lovina Beach and the island’s northern region. It also provides a relatively easy trek, with a wooden boardwalk over a small gorge and cool streams.
Upon reaching the base after the few minutes’ walk down into the lush ravine, you can instantly enjoy the spectacle of the 40m cascade that constantly pours into a rocky pool with a small shrine that ‘guards’ the site. You can enjoy a cool plunge in the pool. The falls are also referred to by the locals as the ‘twin falls’ or Air Terjun Kembar Gitgit, due to its flow that is often split into two equal streams. If you’re game, you can further explore another fall nearby, namely Mekalongan, which is a continuation of Gitgit’s watercourse. Gitgit flows all year round, with clearer waters during the dry season.

Gigit waterfall is very beautiful waterfall at Singaraja regensi , you can see twin waterfall just one place,if you have trip to Lovina don't forget visiting that place
You can walk around, enjoying the views and natural sounds from the waterfall. The local people have many activities there like swing, photos but cost you money.
You can pay a visit to Twin waterfall right next to this . At there, you can swim and take great photos
Pretty, though overrun
As almost all sites on Bali, the waterfalls were very pretty though overrun with tourists. Although the amount of tourists is not as bad as near Denpasar or Ubud . I would recommend the waterfalls especially because you can just take of your shoes and walk through the shallow water !

Gitgit Waterfall is a beautiful tourist destination in north part of Bali. Gitgit waterfall is located in the plateau area and it is surrounded by tropical tree and emits the constantly natural water debit during the year. Waterfall voice around the charming nature was amazing and it was the separate attraction which can be enjoyed by each visitor who comes to visit. There are some plantations protecting the rain forest around the waterfall and in this place we often met the wild monkey to get the water from this waterfall.
A visit to the waterfall at Gitgit should be on every tourist's list.
It is about nine kilometres from Singaraja towards the south.
Although the winding road is steep and you have to walk the last part, it is accessible by car or motorbike.
You can park your vehicle at a parking lot on the Denpasar to Singaraja road from where you can see the waterfall.
To get closer, you will need to walk.
The path can be considered in two halves.
The first part is a stepped concrete path bordered by trees and shrubs on one side and a myriad of colourful shops on the other.
Halfway along the scene changes and on both sides you can see coffee and clove trees.
It is a refreshing experience to walk in this quiet area where the birds take turns to sing.
The air is cool and gradually gets colder a you approach the waterfall.
A short distance from the waterfall, the fine water spray will cool your body.
Sometimes the atmosphere will become misty.
The waterfall is sixty metres high and as the water falls, it looks like white clouds falling down the mountain one after another.
The falling water almost completely covers the rockface of the fall. If your camera is able, try taking some long exposure photographs.
