Mountain biking front Spray River loop to Goat Creek trail 2019 Banff - Canmore
Mountain biking from Banff to Canmore, Goat Creek trail, easy trail in Banff, Mountain biking trail in Banff. Family trail at Rocky mountains.
Goat Creek is a broad short fire path or double-track path that consists of dirt and rock. It has incredible views of the surrounding mountains along a picturesque route. There are a series of sustained low-angle descents along this path with several wide bridge crossings. Goat Creek hugs the Rundle Mountain Range and crosses a pine forest from Banff to Spray Lakes Loop.
You can do it round trip or only one way leaving from Canmore to Banff (this is the easiest route) and from Banff to Canmore (most difficult route). If you leave Banff you can leave the car in a parking lot after passing the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, the name of the area is Spray River West and it is free.
From Canmore, drive south (uphill) on Spray Lakes Road, keep in mind that Spray Lakes Road becomes Smith Dorrien Road, for about 9 miles. Go through Whiteman's Pond and stop in the parking lot on your right (west); A map sign is in the parking lot. The beginning of the path is well signposted.
Distance del Trail: 19 km one way.
Dificultad: Moderada.
Tiempo: 1-3 horas

OLD GOAT GLACIER, A must do hike before it's GONE. Spray Valley, Kananaskis Country, Alberta.
July 10/2019 Summer Hike
Today we are in Spray Valley Provincial Park, in Kananaskis Country, and we will be hiking up to Old Goat Glacier. The trail is 9.5 kilometers, out and back, with an elevation gain of 743 meters. The first 2.5 kilometers is a fairly easy walk through the forest, beside Old Goat Creek. Then you will arrive at a beautiful waterfall. Take a short rest here, because you will be hiking straight up for the next 1.3 kilometers. Here you will have a great view of the Spray Valley. Then you will be hiking up a Lateral Moraine, for 1.5 kilometers to get to the glacier. It’s like being in another world up here. Just mountains, rock and ice. I stayed on the moraine above the glacier, but you can go down to the glacier, there we people sliding down it. It's not everyday you can hike up to a glacier.

Goat Mountain Traverse, Kananaskis, AB
A traverse of Goat Mountain with Brandon B. and Will J. It was cold and windy when we dropped off Brandon's truck at the Door Jamb trail head, then we hopped into Will's car for a short drive to the Yamnuska TH. It was warming up as we got started and couldn't have asked for a better day. Thanks Brandon and Will for an awesome day in the mountains.

Goat Creek Tumwater
Goat Creek and Tumwater are trails just outside of Morton, WA that can be linked into a 20 mile loop that nets you 5700 feet of elevation gain. It's not an easy ride, but it traverses some unique forest and rewards you with a superb descent down the Tumwater trail as well as some duffy and raw single track.

AMAZING Mountain Biking at the Canmore Nordic Centre - Alberta, Canada
Sorry for the shaky gimbal! It was low on battery power, and apparently needs more juice to work properly! You can tell it gets worse through the course of the ride.
Anyway, this was without a doubt one of, if not THE favorite ride in my short history of mountain biking! The tires hitting those roots is like music to my ears! The dirt here was absolutely perfect, and the trail was SO MUCH FUN! If you are ever in Canmore, be sure to check it out!

#Kananaskis #SprayLakes Mountain lake in Spring
Spray Lakes Reservoir is a reservoir in Alberta, Canada. The Spray Lakes were a string of lakes formed along the Spray River, a tributary of the Bow River. With the damming of the river, the lakes were united in the Spray Lakes Reservoir.
It lies between the Goat Range and the Three Sisters ridge, at an elevation of 1,720 meters (5,640 ft). The lake is followed by Highway 742 (Smith Dorrien Trail) in the northern part.
The lake is fed by the following waterways:
Bryant Creek
Turbulent Creek
Currie Creek
Watridge Creek
Spray River
Smuts Creek
Spurling Creek
The lake is drained by the Goat Creek, which empties into the Bow River about 25 kilometers (16 mi) to the northwest, at the town of Banff.[1] Part of the water is diverted for hydroelectric purposes[2] from Goat Pond via an open canal and through a canal tunnel into Whiteman's Pond and towards Canmore.[3]
Parks
The lake lies in the recreational area of Kananaskis Country, and defines the eastern edge of Spray Valley Provincial Park. An assortment of recreational areas are established on both shores.
Spray Lakes West Provincial Recreation Area
Sparrowhawk Provincial Recreation Area
Buller Mountain Provincial Recreation Area
Mount Shark Trailhead Provincial Recreation Area
The western shore is paralleled by hiking trails, and picnic sites and campgrounds are set up on both sides of the lake.

Kananaskis - Ha Ling, Spray Lakes, Old Goat Falls
It was early June and the Adventure.Happy crew had a long weekend so we headed down to Kananaskis with grand plans to know off 3 day hikes in 3 days. Unfortunately the weather cut our plans a little short but we still had a great time and did some pretty excellent hiking. Ha Ling peak and Old Goat Falls are the highlights of this adventure and they are both definitely worth seeing. Even when things don't go exactly as planned, nothing beats getting out in the mountains.
