Al Gore's FULL climate change discussion at WEF
Climate change, pollution and habitat loss are threatening livelihoods, human well-being and our natural environment. How can leaders take action to safeguard people and planet?
That was the question former U.S. vice president Al Gore asked New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, broadcaster David Attenborough, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of India's Mahindra Group, and Zero Waste Academy's Akira Sakano during a discussion on environmentalism he hosted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Jan. 22.

Hec = On The Train (at 102 years of age)
Description:
Hec - 'On The Train'
Just enjoying the ride
..
Where.?
Gore Model Engineering Club Inc.
Hamilton Park, East Gore. (New Zealand).
On Saturday Afternoon = 16th April 2016.

Hec's age ? Just 102 years (+ a month).
Note:
This was the same .. big black locomotive (and trolley seat), which had just a few minutes earlier, been accidentally derailed and totally UP-ENDED, at the old Shed/Signal Box, where the loco and trolley had been run-off the traversing switch, whilst the set was being run OUT onto the main-track.
Unfortunately, the operator of the loco, had forgotten to re-align the switch-traversing unit, BEFORE ALLOWING THE SET TO LEAVE THE SWITCH/BRIDGE, as he forgot to re-align it (with the loco & trailer sitting on top of), to enable the loco to correctly run off the switch/bridge onto the main line track, by still having the swing mechanism swung to one side, the loco had NO ABILITY to negotiate the approach-angle (between the swung out switch/bridge and the fixed track-work)
Thus the loco and it's attached trailer, simply ran off the end of that swing device - up-ending itself and it's trailer seat, onto the dirt/mud down below the raised track-work.
(which is about TWO FEET below the raised 7 model engineers raised track-work)
Sadly.
This also meant that everything not-secured (inside the loco's cowling) ended up being RAM FORCED up into the upper reaches of the cowling.
Thus 1 of the 2 un-secured 12v DC automotive batteries, became wedged inside the cowling.
It was extremely fortunate, that neither of the battery terminals had been able to electrically short-out, inside the metal work therein..
Otherwise there would have been an ENORMOUS explosion from the shorted battery destroying itself therein.
After two men up-righted the loco and replaced it onto the track-work (again) and re-assembled the disassembled derailed trailer, one elderly man ran the set around the remaining track - to the Public Loading Platform Area .. and with some children already being LOADED onto the trailer.. the damaged loco underwent some emergency maintenance.
The operator and another member, had a very difficult time, attempting to dislodge the previously up-turned loco's 12v REAR battery, from it's lodgement position up inside the metal cowling.
I had to assist to raise the cowling enough, to allow them to drop the totally UN_SECURED rear battery down from it's precarious unsafe position within the metalwork, all done whilst little children and other MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, were effectively within the potential blast zone itself
Had either battery exploded.
After the rear battery was repositioned in it's baseplate, I noticed that BOTH batteries had leaked out a quantity of battery acid, that was dribbled over to the side that the loco fell.
The operator ignored my advice to wash the loco (as well as any OTHER licence requirements - that would have seen the loco taken OUT of service for the rest of that day) then he simply dropped the cowling down, and started running passengers around the circuit, without ANY formal certification :checks being performed.
AND without an engineers report, on any consequential accidental roll-over damage.?
TOTALLY in breach of the
Gore Model Engineering Society' Inc.'s licence conditions for running an amusement device..
No wonder they deleted all Facebook comments about their irresponsible operations.

Here's the pertinent regulatory offenses that were done that day, after the accidental derailment capsizing occurred, that rendered one of the two 12vDC batteries, to be jambed up inside the cowling, where the exposed battery terminals could have had the potential to explode that battery, had there been an electrical shorting..

NZ Amusement Devices Act 1978
Take special notice of section: 19
19 Notification of incidents:
(1) Where any incident involving the capsizing, collapsing, or failure of a load-bearing part or safety appliance of an amusement device occurs, the owner shall as soon as practicable, and in any event not later than 48 hours after the incident, send notice thereof in form 7 to the Inspector and to the local authority in whose area the device was operating.
(2) The Inspector and the representative of the local authority may make such inquiries as they think fit as to the cause of any incident and for that purpose may examine the owner, the operator, or any other person whom they have reason to believe has knowledge of the incident.
It took my complaint to both worksafe & to the district council (via facebook on Sunday) before official channels KNEW of the incident..

Shooting Cats: Australia's War on Feral Cats
WARNING: This video contains graphic content.
In Shooting Cats, VICE set out to explore the consequences of Australia's feral cat plague, and confront the uncomfortable and violent realities of dealing with it. Most suburban Australians give feral cats little thought. But for residents of the country’s rural fringes, they’re a diabolical pest and scourge on wildlife. Found in 99 percent of Australia, they’re estimated to kill more than two million native animals a day. That devastation has seen Kangaroo Island local Barry Green declare a personal war against cats; trapping and skinning them, before turning them into hats and fridge magnets.
