    The Hokonui Hills, also known as The Hokonui Mountains or simply The Hokonui, are a range of hills in central Southland, New Zealand. They rise to 600 metres above the surrounding Southland Plains, of which the hills mark a northern extremity. The Hokonui Hills also splits the Southland Plains in two - to the north and east lies the broad floodplain of the Mataura River, and to the south and west lie the plains of the Aparima and Oreti Rivers. The Oreti's major tributary, the Makarewa River rises in the south of the Hokonui Hills. The hills lie within a triangle formed by the towns of Gore to the east, Lumsden to the north, and Winton to the southwest, and cover approximately 1,200 km².     The Eastern Southland Gallery is a major provincial art gallery in Gore, Southland, New Zealand. The gallery is housed in the town's former Carnegie library building, which was built in 1909 . The gallery is located at 14 Hokonui Drive, the northern end of Gore's main street, close to the town clocktower and public library. Though principally a provincial gallery, the Eastern Southland Gallery is important due to two of its major permanent exhibits, the Ralph Hotere Gallery and the John Money Collection. The gallery also hosts regular shows in two separate wings.

    The Hump Ridge Track is located in the south east of Fiordland National Park, in the South Island of New Zealand. The track is about 61 km in distance and is based in Waitutu Forest . About 1800 walkers complete the track each year. The closest town is Tuatapere, although people often stay in Te Anau and opt to drive south the morning of beginning the track. The track was established in November 2001, with the initial cost for the project at $3,950,000 NZD. The track crosses Māori land and much privately owned land. The Tuatapere Hump Track Trust owns two lodges and over 20 km of board walk, although the Department of Conservation maintains the track along the coast and the Port Craig School Hut.

    The Clutha River / Mata-Au is the second longest river in New Zealand and the longest in the South Island. It flows south-southeast 338 kilometres through Central and South Otago from Lake Wanaka in the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean, 75 kilometres south west of Dunedin. It is the highest volume river in New Zealand, and the swiftest, with a catchment of 21,960 square kilometres , discharging a mean flow of 614 cubic metres per second . The Clutha River is known for its scenery, gold-rush history, and swift turquoise waters. A river conservation group, the Clutha Mata-Au River Parkway Group, is working to establish a regional river parkway, with a trail, along the entire river corridor. We’ve done a few brewery tours in New Zealand now, but we love the laidback and authentic approach of the brewery tour in Invercargill. We get to see many of the inner workings of the Invercargill Brewery which brews New Zealand craft beers.

This craft beer brewery in New Zealand not only brews its own recipes, but mass produces other famous New Zealand beer brands.

If you’re looking for a brewery tour in the South Island or a brewery tour in New Zealand, in fact, then it’s well worth considering the Invercargill Brewery!

Today we are doing something pretty cool in Invercargill. We’re going to The Seriously Good Chocolate Company to make our own chocolate!

The Seriously Good Chocolate Company is a small chocolate factory in Invercargill and chocolate cafe in Invercargill. Here, we take part in an “make your own chocolate” workshop to create bags of chocolates! They make an awesome souvenir or gift from New Zealand! (Or something to stuff your face with straight away).

After we have made the chocolates, we wait for the chocolate to set so Laura has one of the dreamiest hot chocolates ever in The Seriously Good Chocolate Company cafe. This Invercargill cafe is well worth trying just for the hot chocolate!
