4 of us got a chance to visit the home of Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia , The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, While today, the role of the queens representative in Canada is mostly ceramonial, there was a time when it was very important to the rule of law in what is now Canada and to communications between here and England.
Canada has a great future and a lot to celebrate in our past as well. One of the portraits you will see in this tour is that of Viola Desmond who lived in Nova Scotia.
Her bravery in fighting for equality highlights that as a country we have not always fully embraced equality the way that we do today. We honer Viola Desmond and all those who fight for the dignity and well deserved right to be treated as equals in society.
We are not a perfect people, but we can always strive for the best in life for everyone.
