Gozo Ferry in Island of Gozo, Malta
A visit to Malta is not complete until you know the island of Gozo. Traveling to the second Maltese island is very easy, you just take the inexpensive ferry to Gozo and enjoy the views.
The Gozo Channel company was formed in 1979. So, it has a lot of experience carrying passengers and vehicles in the beautiful Mediterranean sea of Malta. All ferry boats are very modern and safe. Inside you will find a café and a shop where you can buy souvenirs, books, magazines and Malta guides.
Visitors can currently reach the island by ferry. There are regular crossings between the port of Mġarr on Gozo and Ċirkewwa on the north-west coast of Malta. The Gozo Channel Line makes the trip every 45 minutes during the summer and almost as often in the winter. A return journey costs €4.65 and takes around 25 minutes each way. The service is used by tourists and commuters and is also used to transport goods between the islands. Each year, the route is used by around 1.1 million cars, and many more foot passengers. On arrival at Mġarr, visitors can take one of the 'Hop On Hop Off' buses, which depart outside the ferry terminal and operate on a timetable synchronized to the ferry timetables. Public buses, taxis and hire cars are also available.

2:12 Villa Rundle Garden Triq Ninu Cremona, Victoria, Island of Gozo, Malta
Right next to the Duke Shopping Centre these delightful gardens are beautifully maintained and a lovely way to while away an hour or so. Some lovely statues and some impressive plants and trees, some of which, were planted over 100 years ago. A lot of thought has gone into the use of space and colour in this garden and the centrepiece bridge is lovely.
6:08 The Citadel Victoria, Island of Gozo, Malta
Once in Gozo, one should surely go to the Citadel. With only a few families living within the Citadel walls, and the magnificent baroque Cathedral of Gozo, the Gozitan Law Courts and the Bishop's Palace at the piazza, this place will take you back in time and helps you imagine of how live was back in the days.
There's a visitors' Centre, the Cathedral Museum, the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Gozo Nature Museum, the Old Prison, the Old Gunpowder Magazine, the Grain Silos, the Battery and the World War II Shelter. So if you're into history, there's a lot to see.
Just walk in the Citadel's narrow streets, and appreciate the calmness it is surrounded by.

~MALTA~ Gozo Island Tour 2018
Hey everyone :) Today we are doing something very different, we are going to an island tour to the island of Gozo :) Gozo is an island part of the islands of Malta and is found to the north. We start off at Cirkewwa Harbour at Mellieha in Malta to board the ferry that takes you to Gozo. The ferrytrips are only 30 minutes long and work 24 hours.
We arrive to Gozo and exit the Gozo ferry terminal and then we explore the harbour and the village of Ghajnsielem. We see spectacular views of the sea and port there. After we go to the city of Victoria or as known by locals ''Rabat'' ( No connection to Rabat in Malta btw ) and go to the shopping centers, the busy streets and then we go to a beautiful public garden. After we go up the main road to the Piazza known as ''It- Tokk'' and explore the village core adorned by St George's Basilica in the middle of the narrow streets and cafes. We continue go up the hill and enter the stunning Cittadella. The Cittadella is a historic fortified city dating as back as 1241. We explore the narrow streets and go to the piazza adorned with the huge Cathedral of Santa Maria and we also check out the beatiful interior. We go around the bastions and end up to a stunning view of Gozo and parts of Malta from the bastions. Next we go to the quiet tiny but stunning village of Zebbug ( No connection to Zebbug in Malta btw ). This village has incredible views of the sea and has a small piazza adorned with the beautiful parish church and has two restuarants. We go down the road to the touristic seaside village of Marsalforn. This village is a popular summer residence among locals and tourists. Here you find a beach, restuarants, shops, clubs and hotels. We then go to the popular Catholic religious site of Ta' Pinu, found a near the village of Gharb. This Basilica is popular for the visions of Our Lady from the titular painting back in 1883. Today devotion is among catholics across the world. The titular painting was crowned by Pope Saint John Paul II in May 1990. Our final stop is at the touristic village of Xlendi which is popular by locals and tourists. The village has many summer apartments, bars, small guesthouses and hotels. Xlendi is also popular for the seaside cliffs and the rocky beach. And that was the end of our trip :) Hope you enjoyed and have a great day :)
Ferry from Malta to Gozo Malta Travel video vlog
Enjoy my Malta travel video guide. The first day after my arrival I went to Gozo Island. At Malta International Airport (MLA), I had a car repaired and headed for the Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal and boarded. The journey takes about 30 minutes and n board the ship you can give a quick coffee and enjoy the view of Comino, Crystal lagune and the port of Mġarr. At first glance, there are a lot of churches in Malta, several Ghajnsielem Parish Church, Lourdes Chapel and Rotunda St. John Baptist Church. The beautiful view of the island is from Fort Chambray.

Mgarr Harbour Gozo Malta - Gozo Channel
Mgarr Harbour
Mgarr is known as the gateway to Gozo. The harbour is dominated by a neo-gothic monument, the Lourdes Church built in 1888. Some years earlier, a visitor to the area remarked that the rocks of the hill where the church now stands, resembled those of the Grotto of Massabielle in Lourdes, France. A statue of Our Lady of Lourdes soon appeared in the rocks. Soon after WW2 ended a marble altar was added to the imposing church. From here there are commanding views of the harbour. To the left of the church is Fort Chambrai, designed by military engineer de Tigne in 1723. Work was started only in 1749 by the Knight de Chambrai, who was later to become Commander of the Galleys and then Governor of Gozo. This was the last fortification built by the Knights, and the only active service it saw was during the resistance to the French occupation of the islands in 1798. Fort Chambrai never became a city.
Today Mgarr is a busy harbour and ferry port. It retains a charming picture postcard image, with its colourful boats and bustling restaurants. The yacht marina is within walking distance from the ferry.

the short crossing between the two islands is taken for granted by many who do the daily crossing, but when you sit down and take a look around you see how lovely these islands are.

The to ur of the island had started.
Failure and success were well out of sight
and so was the end of my trip.
15 days away to the East ...
and then to the North and West a little in the middle
and back to where I was starting from.
To me this was uncharted territory!
okay, who am I kidding!?
I knew almost every stone of the places I was about to visit
but as Marcel Proust once wrote
the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes
but in having new eyes
and this journey was all about having new eyes!
I'm on the balcony of the Glenneagles bar which is arguable ....
I'm on the the balcony of
the Gleneagles bar which is arguably one of the nicest ...
The port of Mgarr is the gateway to Gozo
unless you decide to swim it over
you definitely have to come through this port
when there is a rough sea coming from the west
the ferry takes a route around the island of Comino,
which takes a little bit longer.
This boat behind me is a Luzzu, which is a typical Maltese boat
tapered on both ends ...
it's not just the colours that make the luzzu, it has to have the shape.
The eyes of the Luzzu are for protection.
The port of Mgarr sees the crossing of roughly
1 459 114 cars each year
and though the number seems much bigger than the naked eye can perceive,
well I'm not particularly fond of cars so I decided to move to more remote areas
but before that ...
I was taking a time-lapse of the building behind me
when a man approached me
and told me the history of it
The building I was looking at
had once been the hotel Oceana,
a hotel with a less than immaculate reputation.
This boat behind me is called Ghdajsa tal-Latini.
ghdajsa is the Maltese word for boat.
The plan is ... I'm gonna camp in Hondoq
that means that I have to get there before it gets dark
which is not too long to go
I have about half an hour of time
I need to get there and set tent

Gozo ferry and the Citadel, March 2017
We cross from Malta to its sister island of Gozo by car ferry for a tour of the island’s ancient citadel (Ċitadella) in the capital city of Victoria (Rabat)[3:47]. We walk along the entire length of the walls around the citadel and enjoy the amazing views on this sunny spring morning. It would be a good idea to start with a visit to the Cittadella's Visitor Centre[4:22] to learn about some of its history and that of Gozo. On this video we visit some of the other attractions such as medieval walls, St. Barbara’s Chapel[10:26], St. Joseph’s Chapel[19:18], the medieval archway[19:28], sally ports[9:23] and [21:57], the ditch[22:45] and the Cathedral of the Assumption, with its trompe-l'œil painting that gives the impression of a dome on the flat ceiling[21:00]. We also enter two of the three large grain silos[13:00] that were cut in the early 1600s and then converted into water cisterns in the nineteenth century. Access to the silos is through the rock-cut tunnel that leads down to the battery located north of St. John's Bastion.
