Grand Canyon Walking Track - Blue Mountains
The beautiful Blue Mountains are home to some unique views and walks. The Grand Canyon walk is no different. The Grand Canyon is about 6km up the road from the centre of Blackheath.
The walk starts at Neates Glen carpark and heads down into the canyon. The walk is about 6.3km long and takes about 3-4hours to complete, once you stopped and looks at all the view and features. The national authority rate the walk grade 3. The steps down and up are steep in places, but they no Giants Staircase at Echo Point. Once you get to the bottle of canyon, you cross over the river and follow the river down. Then you get to see the amazing canyon, as the creek cuts through the sandstone.
You follow the creek, passing waterfalls, going through a tunnel and crossing the creek several times before you come to the junction for Rodriguez Pass. Cross the river at this point and head up the steps to Evans Lookout. It well worth the climb to see the final view.

Eric Hanson drops into Australia's Grand Canyon in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales for a multi-day hiking trip. Surrounded by arresting sandstone walls, ever-present waterfalls and abundant native plants, Eric and Mark start out on the Grand Canyon Track before continuing down Rodriguez Pass into the Grose Valley, where Eric narrowly misses stepping on a brown snake on the track.

Grand Canyon Walking Track Australia
Blue Mountains National Park has lots of day walks and hikes, this was a day walk on the Grand Canyon walking track at Blackheath Australia. It took 3.5hrs and the views were stunning. Everything today was filmed on my Sony HX60v, there were so many nice shots I found it hard to edit out so this is my longest video at 9mins long. Hopefully you will watch its all. Arresting sandstone walls, ever-present waterfalls and abundant native plants line the awesome Grand Canyon track near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. The historic loop track takes you into the heart of this World Heritage-listed landscape. It's an intimate and adventurous track which walkers have trodden since 1907.
Setting out from Evans lookout, the well-shaded track meanders through luscious native vegetation of ferns and golden wattles, and remains close to Greaves Creek, all of which combine to make this a particularly good walk for the summer months. Shorten the loop by leaving a second car at the Evans Lookout Road entrance or spend the day and stop for lunch at the nearby picnic area before returning to the lookout.
Although there are loads of semi-ledges which make up this challenging walk, you don’t need specialist hiking or abseiling equipment, so comfortable walking shoes are all you’ll need to get out there and explore.

Grand Canyon - Blue Mountains National Park
I have to admit, this was my first canyon I've ever done, and I'm hooked. The Wooman and his crew warmed up with a brisk warmup walk around the Wentworth Falls Track and then met up with a crew at Mt. York. Special thanks to Kara and Morgan for leading the large group through the stunning Grand Canyon.
The easy canyon consisted of a beautiful 30 min well maintained trek down to the first and only abseil of 17m, 90 mins of scrambling through a bubbling creek surrounded by high cliffs, and a 45 min hike out.
The canyon was tricky in areas, maintaining solid foot placement important, however, difficult when you cannot see your feet as you wade through waist deep high water! The limited light highlighted the flouro green vegetation that lined the canyon's floor and along its cliffs. Absolutely stunning!
Will the Wooman return? Absolutely! Will he visit others? Definitely! Are you coming?

GRAND CANYON WALK - BLUE MOUNTAINS - AUSTRALIA
This fabulous (and very popular) little walking track has recently been re-opened after major track works by the NP which meant that it has been a couple of years since I walked this loop. My daughter Deborah and I walked the Grand Canyon Loop track the other day. Here is the video. Enjoy the views and the sheer beauty of the Australian Blue Mountains. We did. :-)

This is one place that holds true to its name and is a must do walk.
From the moment you descend into the Canyon you enter into another world of truly magnificent luscious native vegetation.

Grand Canyon Walk, NSW
In my final NSW video, we went and visited the Grand Canyon walk, located in the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney. The walk starts near Blackheath, and is essentially a circuit with a little bit of a road walk to start or finish. The scenery in the canyon was stunning, with some fascinating sections of track. The final view across the Grose Valley (featured in the thumbnail) was also pretty special.

The Grand Canyon walk at Blackheath is one of the most popular in the Blue Mountains. The track has recently been restored and provides a safe route through what would once have been a difficult and dangerous place.
I started at the Evans Lookout car park, walked along the level track to the Neate's Glen car park, then descended into the Canyon, emerging via the track through The Fernery to Evans Lookout.
There are many steps and places which have been made safe by strong railings and netting, even so children should be closely supervised. They (and you) will be awestruck by this magnificent piece of Blue Mountains scenery.
Allow 3-4 hours for the round trip.
