A short flight with a Parrot Disco around Greenough River and the ocean. Please excuse the lens quality as I chose a UV for the Flight instead of a CPL. I have since ditched the filters and fly with AWB and Post Edit from there. My next Video will be much, much clearer with good contrasts.
Also using a larger battery pack so keep an eye on the Power Consumption. Pretty Impressed.

Near Geraldton in Western Australia this loop around the river is a fun hit out with some interesting sand dunes riding. Just make sure the river mouth isn't open!

The cathedral was designed by Monsignor John Hawes who was both an architect and a priest. The lighthouse located on Point Moore was recently repainted and established as another cultural attraction of Geraldton. Geraldton is also an internationally renowned windsurfing location. The most popular spot is Coronation Beach, located just north of the town. Nearby North of Geraldton is the town of Northampton, as well as the Hutt River Province, an area which claims to be an independent nation since its self-proclaimed secession from Western Australia in 1969. The Houtman Abrolhos islands are 60 km to the west of Geraldton. They are famous for the 1629 wreck of the Batavia. A stone portico recovered from the wreck has been reconstructed at the local museum, along with other artifacts. Twenty-five kilometres south of Geraldton near Walkaway a windfarm was completed in August 2005. It consists of 54 turbines, each producing 1.8 MW and 80 metres high with 40 metre blades. The Trail
The Greenough River Nature Trail is a 17km one-way trail that traverses both sides of the river. It is well maintained and an easy walk, meaning walking boots are not necessary.
As always when walking in Australia take precautions against the sun and take plenty of water along.
Travel Logistics
Geraldton is a large town around 5 hours north of Perth, while the trail is located at Cape Burney approximately 10km south of town.
Both Transwa ( and Integrity Coaches ( have regular bus services travel from Perth to Geraldton.
Burnt Barrel is located around 34km northeast of Geraldton just off Chapman Valley Road.

The Greenough River flows through the small community of Walkaway, near the city of Geraldton in Western Australia.
The recent rainfall well upriver had caused the Greenough River to flow. I was on site at the time and recorded this footage. Since then, the river has flooded over it banks and has caused some damage to roads and fences. More rain in the catchment area will cause more peaks to the river in days to come.
With the debris in the initial flow you can see why you shouldn't swim in this water.

Greenough is a historical town located 400 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia and 24 kilometres south of Geraldton on the Brand Highway. The historic buildings are controlled by the National Trust of Australia. Another feature popular with tourists are the trees that are bent 90 degrees due to the coastal winds.
The mouth of the Greenough River is about 10km to the north of the town.
History
The area was first explored by George Grey in 1839 after which he named the area after Sir George Bellas Greenough, the president of the Royal Geographical Society in London. Grey claimed that the area could become the granary of Western Australia.
In 1851 Augustus Gregory surveyed 30 000 acres (120 km²) of land in the region which became known as the Greenough Flats. This was subdivided into 20 and 30 acre lots with the view to encouraging English settlers who would be more used to the relatively small (by Australian standards) farm sizes. Within a few years it had developed into a highly successful wheat growing area and a population of over 1000 from which a successful town developed.
A series of disasters starting with a major cyclone in 1872 and major flooding in 1888 as well as the discovery of gold in the goldfields caused the gradual decline and abandonment of the settlement so that by 1900 most of the settlers had left the area with many of the small farmlets converted to grazing. The town fell into disrepair until a tourism based project in the 1980s helped refurbish many of the buildings.

Australia's largest solar photovoltaic (PV) power project reached a major construction milestone on April 12, 2012, as contractor and technology provider, First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR), joined owners Verve Energy and GE (NYSE: GE) unit GE Energy Financial Services to mark the commencement of panel installation at the Greenough River Solar Farm. WA Energy Minister, Peter Collier, landholders, members of the Geraldton community and local contractors were present to help celebrate this achievement.
