The World leaving Dartmouth, Devon, UK . 29 July 2010 (3 of 5)
On 29th July 2010 at 08.00 'The World' left Dartmouth, Devon, UK.
A local journal said - when looking across the river The World would block out the town of Kingswear on the opposite side - and it did. The World's huge.
It had stayed since 27 July 2010 and during its stay it attracted many visitors which I hope was good for Dartmouth's businesses.
Please excuse the idle chatter in the background of this video as I couldn't find a spot on my own and I had to share a jetty with about five other people.

Dartmouth is a town and civil parish in the English county of Devon. Dartmouth is a tourist destination set on the western bank of the estuary of the River Dart, which is a long narrow tidal ria that runs inland as far as Totnes.
The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta takes place annually over three days at the end of August. The event sees the traditional regatta boat races along with markets, fun fairs, community games, air displays including the Red Arrows and fireworks. A Royal Navy guard ship is present at the event.
Bayard's Cove has been used in several television productions, including The Onedin Line a popular BBC television drama series that ran from 1971 to 1980. Many of the scenes from the BBC's popular series 'Down to Earth', starring Ricky Tomlinson, were filmed at various locations around the town.
Notable tourist attractions include the Dartmouth Royal Naval College, Dartmouth Castle and the Dartmouth Steam Railway which terminates at Kingswear on the opposite bank of the river.
Boat cruises to nearby places along the coast (such as Torbay and Salcombe) and up the river (to Totnes, Dittisham and the Greenway Estate) are provided by several companies. The paddlesteamer PS Kingswear Castle returned to the town in 2013
Dartmouth is linked to Kingswear, on the other side of the River Dart, by three ferries. The Higher Ferry and the Lower Ferry are both vehicular ferries. The Passenger Ferry, as its name suggests, carries only passengers, principally to connect with the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway at Kingswear railway station. The nearest bridge across the Dart is in Totnes, some 11 miles (18 km) away by road. The A379 road runs through Dartmouth, linking the town to Slapton and Kingsbridge to the southwest and to Torbay to the east across the Higher Ferry.

BANKS OF THE RIVER DART (PART 2) DARTMOUTH CASTLE TO WARFLEET COVE DARMOUTH UK,
The flooded ria that forms the lower reaches of the Dart, with its deep water and steeply sloping valley sides, is a considerable barrier to crossing traffic. There are no bridges below Totnes.
At the mouth of the river, it separates the communities of Dartmouth and Kingswear. There have been proposals to bridge the river here, but these have come to nothing. Instead the two places are linked by, in order going upstream, the Lower Ferry, Passenger Ferry and Higher Ferry. The Lower and Higher ferries both carry vehicles.
Some 2.5 miles (4.0 km) upstream of Dartmouth, the Greenway Ferry carries pedestrians across the river from the village of Dittisham to Greenway Quay
A further 5 miles (8.0 km) upstream is Totnes, where the river is spanned by two road bridges, a railway bridge and a footbridge over. Totnes Bridge is the nearest bridge to the sea and is a road bridge built in 1826-28 by Charles Fowler. Some 1,000 feet (300 m) upstream is Brutus Bridge, constructed in 1982 as part of a road traffic-relief scheme. A further 0.5 miles (0.80 km) upstream, the railway bridge carries the National Rail Exeter to Plymouth line over the river. Immediately upstream of the railway bridge is a footbridge, built in 1993 to provide access to the Totnes (Littlehempston) terminus of the South Devon Railway.
BANKS OF THE RIVER DART (PART 8) GREENNWAY QUAY TO TH BOAT HOUSE, DARTMOUTUK
Greenway is an estate on the River Dart near Galmpton in Devon, England. It was first mentioned in 1493 as Greynway, the crossing point of the Dart to Dittisham. In the late 16th century a Tudor mansion called Greenway Court was built by the Gilbert family. Greenway was the birthplace of Humphrey Gilbert. The present Georgian house was probably built in the late 18th century by Roope Harris Roope and extended by subsequent owners. It was bought by Agatha Christie and her husband Max Mallowan in 1938. The Greenway Estate was acquired by the National Trust in 1999 and it is now a Grade II* listed building. The estate is known for its large riverside gardens, which contain plants from the southern hemisphere and have been open to the public since March 2002.
The house was occupied by Christie and Mallowan until their deaths in 1976 and 1978 respectively. Christie's daughter Rosalind Hicks and her husband Anthony lived in the house from 1968. Rosalind Hicks died in 2004.
The garden is open to the public as is the Barn Gallery, which shows work by contemporary local artists. The house's restoration is complete and is open to the public
