Some of the 3rd Day of the Henry Lawson Festival of Arts - 2019-06-08 Grenfell, NSW, Australia
Some of the third day of the 62nd Henry Lawson Festival of Arts. The festival's theme for 2019 was Ode to Winter. The festival went from Thursday the 6th of June to Monday the 10th of June with Saturday the 8th of June being the day that had the street stalls and the parade.
The bulk of the festivities normally occur during the June long weekend with Saturday normally being the day of the parade. Gulgong's Henry Lawson Heritage Festival is also held mostly over the June long weekend and they also usually hold a parade on the Saturday of that weekend. Both festivals tend to have cold weather.

KONE Banjo Traction Elevators @ Grenfell Centre Adelaide SA
These are the KONE Traction Elevators at the Grenfell Centre in Adelaide SA. For a building this tall, these elevators are incredibly slow. I like the cabs and lanterns. These elevators are also pretty crappy.

London factory engulfed by 'huge mountain of fire'
Witnesses watch as a factory in Staples Corner goes up in flames on Monday night. Achal Dhillon who lives close by, said there was a “loud pop … then we saw a lot of flames suddenly rise up by themselves... then just this huge mountain of fire, almost pyramid shaped and spiralling as it was shooting fireballs into the air. More than 90 firefighters were tackling the blaze. No one is thought to have been in the building at the time.

TransAsia plane crash: ATR fleet still experiencing problems weeks after Taipei crash
Last month, the tragic crash of a TransAsia Airways plane in Taipei grounded the airline’s entire fleet of ATR 72s turboprop commuter planes. According to the company, rigorous safety checks have since been conducted on all the planes.
Less than two weeks later TransAsia’s ATRs were back in the sky, albeit not without some trepidation from staff and commuters.
Over the Chinese New Year holiday, there were a few alarms involving the now infamous ATRs.
One flight received a call to check for fuel leaks after ground staff noticed large wet puddles on the tarmac where the flight had docked to pick up passengers. To the relief of everyone it turned out the giant wet splotches were just water.
Another flight bound for Penghu--a small offshore island chain--experienced what the pilot described as a “sluggishly turning propeller”. Midflight the left propeller began to rotate slow enough that passengers peering out their window noticed the reduced speed. However, a few minutes later the engine made a coughing sound and returned to normal function. Howe reassuring!
TransAsia Airways apologized to those passengers and the ones who were delayed as a new plane was flown from the main island to replace the plane with the “sluggish propeller”.
ATRs are the workhorse of short local flights and used around the world by many airlines. They were grounded in America by the Federal Aviation Administration as commuter planes due to performance problems in icy conditions and have slowly been phased out by most American airlines.
However, they are still used as cargo carriers in the US.

Memories of a Ten Pound Pom
Between 1945 and 1973 more than one million British people known as the ten pound Poms emigrated to Australia under an Australian government scheme. The immigrants only had to pay ten pounds for their voyage out and the Australian government would pay the rest of the money as long as they stayed in the country for two years.
Richard Waterfield was born in Trowbridge in Wiltshire before emigrating from London to Sydney fifty years ago in 1958.
Here he talks about the scheme and his reasons for leaving England for Australia. He discusses his life in Sydney and his memories of the old country. We even hear about his meeting with English actress Joyce Grenfell TWICE in unusual circumstances.
Excuse the picture quality. That'll teach me to film against a sunny background.
