Ultimate Mexican street food tour in GUADALAJARA, Mexico | Best TACOS de BARBACOA in Guadalajara
BEST BARBACOA TACOS in GUADALAJARA, MEXICO | Massive Mexican street food tour in Guadalajara
We're in Mexico's second biggest city, Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco. In this video we share with you some of the Guadalajara's best street food in the neighbourhood of Santa Tere. We start with the famous breakfast dish of barbacoa tacos. Here in Guadalajara the barbacoa is made from slow cooked beef in a tomato and chill sauce. The barbacoa is put into tortillas, topped with onions and then half fried on the hot plate. The result is a crunchy, juicy, delicious mess! Next up we head to the Mercado Santa Tere- a local market which is utterly charming and has a great community spirit. We eat chile rellenos at a fonda and then sip the famous Versace juice from Titas. Then it's over the road to a popular local dessert shop for jerricallas- Jalisco's famous dessert- a baked custard with a burnt top. We went with another classic- carne en su jugo- meat in its juices- a dish which is the personification of comfort food! We hope you enjoy this massive Mexican street food tour in Guadalajara, Jalisco! #mexicanstreetfood #mexicanfood #guadalajarafood

Best Food & Burgers in Guadalajara, Mexico!
About a month or so ago, Jay & I were looking for a place to visit that was different, we loaded up Skyscanner and came across a cheap ticket to Guadalajara, Mexico. I don't think I've ever met anyone whose ever been there, and knew nothing about it myself. So we purchased the tickets, met up with our friend Ryan, none of us spoke Spanish, and here's what happened. The is our journey compiled into 1 day.

GUADALAJARA - A City Tour!!
Are you wondering what it's like in Guadalajara? We took a Guadalajara tour on a double-decker bus to Tonala, Tlaquepaque, back to Guadalajara, and finally to Zapopan.

We had an amazing time exploring on this bus tour, Guadalajara and the surrounding cities. We spent the entire day these beautiful cities. Sure, we 100% looked like Guadalajara tourists, but that’s okay. We got to see the art in Tlaquepaque, the old buildings of Guadalajara, the street vendors in Tonala, and El Centro in Zapopan.
We ate some amazing food in Tlaquepaque, saw so many sights of Guadalajara, bought street food in Tonala, and explored so much of Guadalajara. We highly recommend doing the Tapatio Tour.

Travel vlog Mexico, Guadalajara
Episode 4: Mexico
Day 1:
Early morning before leaving for our busy schedule we soldiered on towards the restaurant in order to indulge in the breakfast available, surprisingly enough for a smaller hotel the breakfast was very good and offered also a wide variety of different food. In the morning we headed on foot to visit a number of astonishing buildings that have significant historical importance to the Mexican culture.
Palacio De Gobierno was the first building that we explored, this building was built originally in 1774 after many years of construction. During the course of the years, the purpose of this building changed numerous times, at one point it also served as a prison for the region of Jalisco which is the state where Guadalajara is found. Currently, it is being used as a Government building in which important meetings are held by the government officials of the surrounding towns and cities. This historic building also marks a place where groundbreaking laws with regards to slavery had been passed, this same building is also decorated with two beautiful contemporary fresco paintings. The Mexican Genius behind these creations was no one else but Jose’ Clemente Orozco, his creations highlight the important and controversial events that took place in Mexico with respect to freedom and slavery of the population.
Teatro Degollado was the second place we visited, but unfortunately, upon arrival we realized that the theatre was closed for some renovations. This beautiful building was originally opened in 1866, it was the center of entertainment of Guadalajara. Still today this theatre is being used to house world-class musicians.
City of Tonala: Following this disappointing end we decided to go to the neighboring city of Tonala’, this city is well known mainly to a large number of artists and it is considered as an artisan city. While exploring the streets of this city we were welcomed with a continuous stream of shops that offered different handcrafted art. These varied from pottery to even marble sculptures, in fact, we took the opportunity and purchased ourselves a chessboard hand carved from marble.
City of Tlaquepaque: This charming city is only about 10km of Guadalajara but yet it offers the tranquility that we expect from Mexican cities, like Tonala it is also well known for its pottery and mariachi. This being said it is worth noting that Tlaquepaque is much nicer and far more charming. While exploring the cobbled roads and alleys, we realized that we were surrounded by numerous street art and statues.
Day 2:
Vicente Fernandez: We left the hotel in the morning and headed towards the estate of the Mexican retired singer/actor Vicente Fernandez. He is in possession of a beautiful estate which includes also a ranch with a lot of horses and different animals. Typically the gates of his estate are open for the public that comes to visit and pay tribute to this Mexican legend. Trust our luck upon arrival we were told that Mr. Fernandez is not accepting any more visitors.
Tequila Distillery: We could not leave Guadalajara before visiting some of the most famous tequila distilleries in the region. It should be said that there are numerous tequila distilleries and there are many guided tours to choose from in order to be taken there. The one we choose was conveniently close to us, therefore we avoided spending excessive traveling time. After a brief tour of the actual premises, we were gathered and the distillery guide started explaining to us the differences in the tequilas that they produce, even better he allowed us to try all the variants which they offer. Rather interestingly the Mexicans have this tradition were they sing rhymes before they drink the shots of tequila, some of which were hilarious but unfortunately, the tequila erased the memories of these rhymes.
Chapala Lake: Chapala is a small town adjacent to the Lake Chapala which is the largest lake freshwater lake in Mexico, it is surrounded by greenery and beautiful hills providing spectacular breathtaking scenery. Upon our arrival, we were greeted in true Mexican style with a live band that offered some surprisingly good songs, as expected the main attraction of this town is without a doubt is the lake itself. We took the opportunity to eat in one of the best restaurants that this place had to offer and indulge in some fresh seafood.
Day 3:
ZooGDL: On the last day at Guadalajara we wanted to release our inner child and visit the ZooGDL, this zoo happens to be the largest Zoo in the whole Mexico in both the area and number of different species. The biggest suggestion that I can give at this point is to visit the zoo as early as possible since it is extremely big, in fact, we ended up missing some of the animals. Conveniently enough the zoo was equipped with an overhead cable lift and a train which are aimed to facilitate the viewing experience especially if you don’t want to walk very long distances.

→ Who are we?
Hey there! We are Greg and Hillary – a husband and wife team that loves traveling, going on adventures, and helping others do the same! Although we love traveling, at this point in time, we still have full time 9-5 jobs in Dallas, Texas.
In August of 2016, we packed up our things, Greg quit his job, and we moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!
Hillary is working remotely for her CPA firm and Greg is working on this site full time.
We view ourselves as fairly ordinary people, complete with an ordinary income, ordinary jobs, and (unfortunately) an ordinary amount of student loan debt (thanks UNT!).
I know what you are thinking, “Aren’t travel blogs supposed to be written by hippies that don’t have jobs and live in hostels?!” Well don’t you worry, we are working on making that happen! Although we hope to become full time travelers in the next 1-2 years, this site is not necessarily aimed at people that want to travel full time.
Our hope is not that you quit your job and become a long haired, bearded, Volkswagen van driving hippy. Instead, our hope is that after reading our stories you are more inspired to live a more fulfilling life from 5pm-9am!
Why such the emphasis on how ordinary we are? Although we love reading travel blogs, it is easy to feel disconnected from the writers at times. It seems as though they are leading such extraordinary lives that they are somehow doing something that is unreachable to the “average” person.
We are here to prove that wrong. We are here to tell you that even if you work a full-time job and only get two weeks of vacation each year-you still have the power to design an adventurous life for yourself. Afterall, that is exactly where we started before leaving it all behind to live la vida loca!
After having several caffeine induced conversations about how people should travel more and shift their priorities in a way that will lead to a more fulfilling life, we decided to share our
stories with you.
Our purpose in creating Kinetic Kennons is to share our stories of travels, adventures, and funny mishaps and to inspire others to design a life full of exploration. Throughout this site you will find posts about how to go on a cheap weekend trip, funny stories such as the time Hillary forgot to update her passport before an international trip, and inspirational rants on why you should lead a more adventurous life!

Only 25 minutes from Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque is definitey worth a 1/2 day or full day to explore this artsy and yes, touristy town.
Make plans to have lunch or dinner in Tlaquepaque (Tlah -kay-pah-kay) as there are many great restaurants to choose from. Small boutique hotels can also be found there.
Visit the many art galleries which you will find along a several block stretch on the main street. It is a walking street (no cars).
Also, make sure to visit the largest cantina in Mexico. Actually, a group of many restaurant owners got together to form one huge complex. A main gazebo in the center is the stage for mariachi-style music. It is always fun and lively.
Since Tlaquepaque is only a short 25 minutes from the city of Guadalajara, it should be on your itinerary when you visit the state of Jalisco.

►Learn Spanish like us!
After living in Guadalajara, Jalisco for over 4 months, we found a LOT to love about it. The activities, the people, the weather, and more. However, many people have told us they're planning to visit or move to Guadalajara after watching our videos about it. We felt obligated to share the other side of the story: the ugly side of Guadalajara, Mexico.
So what is it like living in Guadalajara as an expat? Well, we answer that in many of our other videos about Guadalajara, Jalisco. But if you're wondering what might be some of the downsides of traveling to or living in GDL - this travel vlog is for you.
These are things that are less desirable or possibly deal-breakers about GDL, México for some people. Hope these help you learn a little more about one of our FAVORITE cities in Mexico, Guadalajara.
ABOUT US (MADDIE & JORDAN)
In January 2018, we sold everything we owned in the US (except our husky Laska & what fit in our tiny, tangerine Prius C3) to travel the world—starting with Mexico. Since then, we've been making travel videos about our life in Mexico and the new experiences we encounter while traveling the world. If you'd like to join our shenanigans, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also poke around our social media to find out what we’re up to each week.

That's why we took on the challenge to see if we could feed ourselves, eating out in México for an entire day on just 185 pesos (the current exchange rate). See if we could do it as we explore the cost of living in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Mexico, in general, is much cheaper than the US and other westernized countries. If you're thinking about becoming an expat and moving to Mexico, you probably want to know more about the cost of living in various places. We think this $10 challenge is an excellent measure to see just how cheap or expensive a city is.
We've done a number of these $10 challenges on our Tangerine Travels channel, so be sure to check out our other Mexico travel vlogs to gauge the cost of living in various cities around Mexico!
