Gulf Shores public beach smoking ban
May 6, 2010 at the Gulf Shores Public Beach
Vacationers are enjoying a beautiful day (Thursday, May, 6, 2010) on the sugar-white sands of the public beach adjacent to The Hangout in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Sunning on the soft sand, swimming in the clear blue gulf waters, riding jet skis and parasailing are clearly favorite activities on the shore today.

Places to see in ( Gulf Shores - USA )
Gulf Shores is a city on Alabama's Gulf Coast. Its Gulf State Park has beaches, trails and a pier, plus a golf course and a zip line over the dunes. To the west, sea turtles and migratory birds thrive among the coastal habitats of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Farther west, 19th-century Fort Morgan guards Mobile Bay. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo offers hands-on encounters with lemurs, kangaroos and sloths.
The cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are connected by two main east-west highways. The most southern one is Highway 182 (known locally as Beach Blvd). It runs along the beach and offers great views of the water. Highway 180 (known locally as Canal Road) runs along the Intracoastal Waterway. Plenty of accommodations are located directly on the beach. Guests can walk right out and enjoy the sand and water. Some are located within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops.
The best thing to do in Gulf Shores is enjoy the beaches. There are plenty of places to park at most public beaches. Some offer facilities and picnic tables. There are many beach access area that provide pedestrian access only. These are best if you are staying nearby and don't need a car to get to the beach. It is best to be aware of the Beach Warning Flags that tell you whether it is safe to go int othe ocean.
Gulf Shores is a family friendly community whose government works to protect and enhance the quality of life for its residents, visitors and retirees, while promoting economic prosperity in a business-friendly atmosphere. Jack Edwards National Airport is located in Gulf Shores and offers services from Gulf Air Center, Salt Air Aviation Center and Platium Air Center. The airport is located right in town, just two miles from the beach and is extremely convenient.

Waterville Aerial Video in Gulf Shores Alabama - CondoInvestment.com
Waterville is a water park in downtown Gulf Shores, AL and minutes from the condos in the East Beach area and West Beach area. The Original Oyster House is close and one of many great restaurants in the downtown area. For every restaurant's menu, visit Waterville has a variety of entertainment options and includes a little something for the entire family. The go carts, mini golf, arcade, roller coaster and other dry things to do, compliment the variety of fun things to do in the water. The park is home to many slides, but also features a hugely-popular wave-rider. The water is pulled and pushed to create a simulation of surfing. Riders actually compete in regional contests for this ride and it's popularity has grown tremendously over the last 5-10 years.
The Gulf Coast is growing rapidly and new businesses seem to be opening every day. Foley, AL has the new OWA development coming and the Poarch Creek Band of Indians have spent 500M on the new amusement park. We update these pages regularly and will add updates until completion.
Another new project is the Gulf Place beach renovation, which is 15M being spent to upgrade the public beach access at the Gulf Shores Hangout
All of these new projects and businesses opening coupled with the new presidency has created a buzz in our area and seemingly across the country. The time for Gulf Shores and surrounding area to emerge as one of the nation's premier vacation destinations seems to be here. Trip.com's recent article claiming Gulf Shores to be one-of-the top rising star destination in the US is right on point. For info on the real estate market, try visiting
Pete Blalock: This is MY Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
Pete Blalock has lived in Orange Beach for over 47 years, moving down in 1964 after visiting the area as a child. Pete grew up enjoying crabbing, swimming and skiing on the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Running Lauder's Landing on Cotton Bayou and an A&W root beer stand at the T in Gulf Shores early on, prepared Pete to work in retail. Pete Blalock now owns Blalock's Seafood & Speciality Market in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores serving everything from fresh, local seafood; from fresh fish, to fresh Alabama-caught shrimp, to crab.
Gulf Place Aerial Video in Gulf Shores AL - CondoInvestment.com
The Gulf Shores Hangout - AKA Gulf Place, is a large strip of land on the Gulf of Mexico in downtown Gulf Shores, Alabama that's being used for several reasons.
Once home to Gulf Shores' main public beach and a string of restaurants that included a McDonalds, the Barefoot Lounge, Fat Tuesdays and others, this gulf-front property now features two restaurant / lounges, a condominium, souvenir shop and, to this day, represents the main public beach area in downtown Gulf Shores, AL. Gulf Place is what beach traffic hits when they can no longer drive South on Hwy 59; the main artery for vacationers to visit the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Gulf Place has grown tremendously over the years and once laid claim to a single festival held in October every year; the Shrimp Festival. In 1971, the inaugural Shrimp Festival started what patrons likely thought of as a single beach front party to enjoy that year and probably forget forever. But the sleepy little town had other plans. This year, 2018, will mark the 47th annual Shrimp Festival and will surely be the largest to date as each year has proven to break the previous year's attendance numbers. In 2010, the city of Gulf Shores put together a music festival with help from the Black Crowes, John Legend and the Zack Brown Band. An overwhelming success, the Hangout Music Festival was born and much like the Shrimp Festival, the Hangout Music Festival seems to get bigger and bigger each year. There aren't the only two gatherings held at Gulf Place and smaller beachfront parties dot the calendar and the Gulf Shores Hangout offers some of the best seats in town for the annual Gulf Shores fireworks show in July.
From the aerial video, the Pink Pony is the small gulf-front building on pilings and remains one of the last beachfront lounges on the Alabama Gulf Coast, with Bahama Bob's just a few miles down the coast in the West Beach area of Gulf Shores, AL. And the other is, of course, the world renown FloraBama lounge - one of America's last great road houses that just so happens to sit on the Gulf of Mexico on the Alabama / Florida state line. This is actually just a myth and the FlorBama sits in Florida, but just barely. A fun fact about the FloraBama and its Annual Mullet Toss (sometimes said to be the world's largest beach party and if you've ever been in traffic on a Saturday, it feels like it too) is that they change directions in which they throw the fish. One year, patrons throw mullet in to Alabama and the next, they throw mullet in to Florida. Also from the aerial video, downtown Gulf Shores can be seen from 400 feet and what a beautiful sight!
We've published several blogs and offer numerous pages with helpful info for both investors and vacationers to enjoy the Gulf Coast. Browse both condos for sale in Gulf Shores using - and also find Orange Beach condos for sale using - These areas represent the Alabama Gulf Coast and for info on condos for sale in Perdido Key FL, find more info at The entire website is full of aerial imagery for condos, local businesses, state parks and areas known for the wildlife. Please enjoy these and other videos as they offer plenty of help for those looking to visit, such as hotels, golf courses, restaurants and much more local info.
