My Family Trip to Guyana and The Guyana Museum of African Heritage [Place Review]
I made the day-long journey to Guyana for a joyous family event and decided to make a full vacation of it and spent a few days in the capital, Georgetown. While there I visited a few restaurants and tourist attractions which included the zoo, the 1763 Monument, and the Guyana Museum of African Heritage.

An amusing moment at Bourda Market in Georgetown, Guyana: A fruit and vegetable vendor tells me “you can’t feel them up like that” when I inspect warm papaya slices for sale. I then buy five oranges for G$200 (US96¢).

This is video 2 of 2. In September of 2017 I took a taxi from the Georgetown Guyana Airport to the city. The cost is 5,000 Guyanese dollars or $25 USD. The taxi only took about 45 minutes. The airport code is GEO named Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

Shortly before leaving Guyana in June 2016, I had the opportunity to sit down with retired Civil Engineer, Egbert Carter and Photographer and Lawyer, Nikhil Ramkarran to discuss the Queen Victoria monument found in front of the High Court in central Georgetown.
Like many pre-independence structures found in Guyana, written history and documentation is sparse, and the best account comes from the ones who were there.

Strolling through Stabroek Market in Georgetown, Guyana
Michael and I walk through Stabroek Market, the heartbeat of Georgetown with a bustling shopping scene and the capital’s central bus station. I bought some super-cheap cookies-and-cream Oreos from a street vendor, which I would later realize had a “use by” date of 2015 and were horrible.

Guyana's Constitution under the Microscope
The Constitution of Guyana is the highest governing document in the Republic of Guyana. It officially came into effect on October 6, 1980. However, it was not Guyana's first constitution; previous to this current one, Guyana had a different constitution that was enacted in 1966, upon its independence from the United Kingdom. Constitution reform is currently a topic being discussed with great vibrancy in Guyana today. It is also attracting the attention of a number of foreign financial and diplomatic institutions, if only because of its pivotal nature in the matter of 'Governance' and its relationship with economic and social development. These discussions and interests are however inhibited by the absence of easily accessible information, in a single coherent document, that purports to show what the Constitution of Guyana would look like if the reforms stated in the report of the Constitution Reform Commission (July 17, 1999) were all to be implemented.
