Halifax Waterfront Nova Scotia | Ferry Ride | First Outing in Canada
Hello everyone, in this video I'll walk you through the Halifax waterfront that we visited in August month. It was our first family outing in Canada. Although it was a cloudy-rainy day but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is worth visiting the waterfront area if you are in Halifax.

Halifax Waterfront - Harbour Walk - Nova Scotia
The 'Halifax Waterfront' is very popular with locals and tourist alike. The waterfront boardwalk stretches from Pier 21 to Casino Nova Scotia a distance of approximately 2.4 km. May through September are it's busiest times.
The 'Halifax Waterfront' is operated and maintained by the Waterfront development.
Hint for tourists:
For a great view of the harbour take the ferry (operated by Halifax Transit) to either Alderney Landing or Woodside. As of 2017 the fare is only $2.50. When paying ask for a transfer and use the transfer for the return trip.

Halifax - Amazing Landmarks and Architecture | Halifax Travel Vlog
Halifax is the capital city of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, and there are a lot of amazing landmarks and architecture to discover in downtown. Many historic sights to check out include (but not limited to) the Halifax Citadel, the famous Old Town Clock, St. Paul's Anglican Church, Halifax City Hall, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. When admiring the historic architecture of the city, don't forget to check out the more modern architecture including the Halifax Central Library. While sightseeing in Halifax, visiting the Halifax Public Gardens and the Halifax Waterfront along the harbour is the perfect way to relax and unwind. To get that impressive view of the Halifax cityscape especially at sunset, make sure to take the ferry over to Dartmouth along the Dartmouth Harbourwalk.
Special thanks to fellow traveller CanadianKelsey for giving me an itinerary to follow while checking out Halifax:

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Economy, Best Time To Travel
Halifax is the capital city of Nova Scotia and the largest city in the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. Halifax is a busy Atlantic seaport and the economic and cultural hub of Eastern Canada. Halifax is a major economic centre in Atlantic Canada with a large concentration of government services and private sector companies.
LOCATION
The city of Halifax is on Halifax Peninsula, on the west side of the harbour, with Dartmouth to the east. The main landmark is the Halifax Citadel, on a high hill above the city, and it conveniently divides the city into three districts. The downtown core is sandwiched between the Citadel and the harbour, making navigation a snap.
HISTORY
modern Halifax was founded on June 21, 1749 as a British military outpost. In the 19th and early 20th century, Halifax was the entry point for European immigration to Canada. Halifax proved its worth during the Seven Years' War against the French and later in the American Revolutionary War. The first permanent European settlement in the region was on the Halifax Peninsula.
CLIMATE
Halifax has a maritime climate, tempered by its position near the North Atlantic. Summers are pleasant although occasionally humid, and winters are relatively mild, but wet, snowy and windy. January is the coldest month, being the only month with a high that is slightly below freezing at −0.1 °C, while August is the warmest. Snowfall is heavy in winter. August being the year's warmest and driest month on average.
BEST TIME
The best time to visit Halifax is May through October. Summer and fall experience pleasant weather and usher in numerous festivals. However, these months also attract lots of tourists, so be prepared for steep hotel rates. If you're looking to avoid the crowds and the high prices, visit between November and February.
ECONOMY
The urban area of Halifax is a major economic centre in eastern Canada with a large concentration of government services and private sector companies. Halifax serves as the business, banking, government and cultural centre for the Maritime region. Agriculture, fishing, mining, forestry and natural gas extraction are major resource industries found in the rural areas of the municipality. Halifax is one of Canada's top four container ports in terms of the volume of cargo handled.
TOURISM
Halifax's tourism industry showcases Nova Scotia's culture, scenery and coastline. There are several museums and art galleries in downtown Halifax. Halifax has numerous National Historic Sites, most notably Citadel Hill (Fort George). Just outside the urban area, the iconic Peggys Cove is internationally recognized and receives more than 600,000 visitors a year. The waterfront in Downtown Halifax is the site of the Halifax Harbourwalk, popular amongst tourists and locals

Riding the Halifax Transit ferry from Dartmouth to downtown Halifax
I started recording a couple or so minutes into the ride.
Halifax-Dartmouth Ferries
The Halifax Harbour Ferries have been shuttling between terminals in downtown Halifax and Dartmouth since 1752 and the fleet is currently composed of 3 uniquely designed units, christened Woodside I, Halifax III and Dartmouth III.
In this video, we will clearly see Halifax III and Woodside I and ride on one of them, from Halifax to Dartmouth and back on a cloudy day, across the second largest salt water harbour in the world.
Harbour Ferries is operated by MetroTransit and is integrated within with the bus system in the area's Regional Transportation System.
There are two routes: Halifax-Dartmouth and Halifax-Woodside.
Each ferry boat holds a maximum of 395 passengers. About 3000 commuters use the ferry daily. Each ferry boat is fully accessible.
The ferry service is only one of two in Canada to operate a passenger ferry service as part of a Transit system. The other one is in Vancouver BC (the TransLink SeaBus)
Our ride starts at the ferry terminal in Halifax on July 16th, 2010.
The first 2 sequences were taken the day before and have been integrated at the beginning for the sake of illustrating typical departure from the Halifax dock.
At Dartmouth, the video was taken from inside the terminal building, to best provide an overhead view of the arrival and departure of the Halifax III.

A video guide to Halifax's new transit plan
Metro Transit—oh wait, *Halifax* Transit—just released their new draft public transportation plan, Moving Forward Together and it proposes some pretty big changes for where and how the buses run in Halifax. We read the 102-page document to bring you what we think are the core concepts behind the plan.
