Kangaroo Valley Australia
Kangaroo Valley is a valley and small town in New South Wales, Australia. The Kangaroo River runs through the valley's wildlife-rich rainforests and countryside. Hampden Bridge, a Victorian suspension bridge with castle-like sandstone towers, crosses the river. The Pioneer Village Museum has displays on early settlers in 19th-century farm sheds. Nearby, Morton National Park is home to the dramatic Fitzroy Falls.
Remembering the Hampden Bridge
The future of Wagga's Hampden Bridge, which was opened to traffic in 1895 and closed in 1995, had been uncertain for years, closed off from the public, and out of use, until a decision was made in 2012 to demolish the bridge later this year due to it's high maintenance costs and risk of collapse. The plan to demolish the bridge divided the community of Wagga. This short documentary looks at the conversation opened by the deputy mayor of Wagga Andrew Negline for the community to submit ideas for how the history of the bridge can be remembered now that it's fate is set in stone.

KBK Light Cranes Help to Preserve Hampden Bridge
KBK Light Crane Systems are the most versatile material handling solutions. In a majority of cases KBK is applied industrial environments to optimise the flow of goods. A true testament to the versatility is when KBK is applied in extraordinary cases. One of these cases is the Hampden Bridge in Kangaroo Valley, Australia.
The Hampden Bridge is the oldest timber suspension bridge in Australia that is currently still use. The heritage listed structure has been opened over 120 years ago in 1898. At the time the bridge has been constructed to allow local farmers to cross the Kangaroo River and thus to boost the local agriculture. Due to its iconic look and with medieval style towers on either side in combination with its unique character, the Hampden Bridge is now not only a tourist attraction, but also still an integral part of the road network in Australia’s Kangaroo Valley.
To maintain the Hampden Bridge and to ensure safe use for vehicle traffic, the structure undergoes regular maintenance. Fully galvanised KBK tracks are mounted to the underside of the bridge and used to suspend a maintenance platform. This maintenance platform can dismantled and is only in use when needed to ensure that the overall look of the bridge is not impacted. By suspending the platform off the KBK tracks, the maintenance work can be carried out safely and efficiently. In addition the galvanised KBK tracks are highly durable and will allow maintenance work to be carried out for years to come.
