Waianapanapa Cave In Maui Hana
Waianapanapa cave on Maui Hana. Once upon a time, a Hawaiian princess named Popoalaea fled from her cruel husband, the Chief Kakae. She hid on a ledge just inside the underwater entrance to the cave at Waianapanapa. A faithful serving maid sat across from her fanning the princess with a feather Kahili symbol of royalty. Noticing the reflection of the kahili in the water, the chief Kakae discovered Popoalaea's hiding place and killed her. At certain times of the year, tiny red shrimp appear in the pool, turning the water red. Some say it is a reminder of the blood of the slain princess. ► Shaka Guide for Road to Hana:
Best Things to do in Maui
► The Road to Hana! The Road to Hana was our favorite single day in Maui, it was a day absolutely PACKED with adventure! Our two biggest tips for the Road to Hana are to get and early start, and to use the Shaka Guide. When you start early, you'll beat a lot of the traffic and have more of the sites to yourself. Using the Shaka Guide will make sure you don't miss any amazing sites and waterfalls!
► Snorkel with Sea Turtles! There are snorkeling opportunities all around Maui, and the best part is that there are Sea Turtles at most of the spots! Honolua Bay & Black Rock are two places you can drive to and snorkel for free, where we saw 4-5 sea turtles at EACH PLACE! Molokini Crater is the most beautiful place to snorkel on Maui, however you can only get here by boat on an excursion.
► Haleakala at Sunrise! Haleakala at sunrise is one of the most stunning views you can imagine. You are above the clouds and get to see the sun rise over that horizon of clouds! It is an inverted sunrise people... You need a permit for this, which costs $1, but you have to get it at 7am 2 days before you are planning on going. Don't be late because they sell out fast!
► Pride of Maui Excursions. We took the Pride of Maui to Molokini Crater for snorkeling and for their dinner cruise! We had a blast on each trip, and highly recommend these tours. The guides were awesome, the food was great, and we got to experience a side of Maui that we wouldn't have been able to experience otherwise!
► Nakalele Blowhole. This is what it sounds like. There is a hole in the rocky coast North of Lahaina where water periodically shoots out of like a giant blowhole! It is super cool, and pretty incredible how high the water sprays!
► Farmer's Markets! You have to love fresh fruits and vegetables, and Maui has some of the best tropical fruits in the world. Head to a farmer's market (there are many on the island, we went to the one in Lahaina) and sample the local fruits and veggies, and bring some home to enjoy on your trip!
Where to Stay in Kauai
We recommend getting an Airbnb or hotel in the Lahaina area of Maui. We loved that area and felt like we were right in the middle of everything we wanted to see and do in Maui!
If you have any questions, we would love to hear from you in the Comments or on our About Us page. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi, we are Julie & Zach, a couple who sold everything in 2018 and took off an adventure around the world! So far, this journey has taken us in a van ALL ACROSS the United States and Canada, from snorkeling with manatees in Florida to camping in the Grand Canyon to climbing glaciers in Canada, and everything in between! We were both working and going to school while living in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, and to be honest it really wore on us. We were exhausted, unfulfilled, and ready for an adventure. So, we made it happen! We saved up AS MUCH as we could over those 2 years - all homemade meals, no shopping, walk or bike everywhere, etc - and sold almost all of our belongings! With that money, we bought a renovated a van that we have been living in ever since! We started our YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been loving creating videos! When we started, we were SO SO SO SO bad at it, and to be honest we still kinda suck, but we want to get better! What videos do you want to see? Let us know and we will make it happen!
We believe that travel is truly a life-changing experience, it certainly changed ours! When you get out of your everyday world and experience new cultures, foods, places, people, sights, sounds, and take an adventure, you grow as a person and you become a better version of yourself! You are WAY stronger than you know, and stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to do anything, so make it happen! BE FOREVER FREE!

A short pan of the freshwater swimming cave at Waianapanapa state park in Hana, Maui.
Maui Fresh Water Caves
After our zipline adventure we head towards Hana. Seeing lots of vegatation, waterfall and vistas along the way. At one point we stoped at the must see Black Sand Beach. Taking the long way to the beach we take a side trail over to some caves. Much to our surprise we find fresh water caves just a hop skip and jump from the parking lot. Some locals were there with underwater flashlights so I just joined in for the adventure. It was a rush! So much fun for me. This trip just keeps getting better.

Maui Trip | Exploring the City
This video is just another montage of my time in Hawaii which is not over yet so yaaaay no school for another week! Maui (an island in Hawaii) is so beautiful and warm and there's ocean and good ice cream here, unlike Canberra .-. The beaches here are amazing!! We attempted Foosball, ate brownies, got extra adapters for all our phones and laptops, went swimming and drove around and saw lots of the island.
Hope you're having a fabulous day yo, keep smiling ^-^

Hawaii Ice Bucket Challenge with Amanda
(sorry about the audio)
Amanda was nominated by her sister for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. A fresh bucket of icy (sandy) ocean water accompanied her $100 donation towards the cause. I also have been nominated but am just going to donate $100 for now until I can find an epic way to do the challenge without wasting an enormous amount of water :)
