Hanazono Shrine is one of the most famous shrines in Tokyo. In perticular, in Nov. Tori-no-ichi is held, which encourages people to get success on business by praying. Normally you can feel peaceful, relax in the middle of Shinjuku there.

TOKYO - Hanazono Shrine in Shinjuku
The Hanazono Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Shinjuku. This shrine was founded in the mid-17th century. Hanazono Jinja nestled in the heart of Tokyo's Shinjuku ward, Hanazono Jinja is a small and unobtrusive structure that, according to Fodor's, just happens to be one of the most historical shrines in Japan. Constructed in the Edo period by the Hanazono family, this Inari shrine—a shrine dedicated to Inari, the androgynous god of fertility and worldly success—is a favorite place for businessmen to pray for successful ventures.

Tori-no-ichi is an annual traditional festival held at shrines and temples nationwide on set days (rooster days) in November to wish good luck and business prosperity.
The festivity continues until midnight as gorgeous kumade rakes decorated in gold and silver are sold by lively venders in the shrine and temple compound.

Hanazono shrine is a located near the Kabukicho entertaining district and is a 7 minute walk from Shinjuku Station.
In November, dozens of Shinto shrines in Tokyo hold events called the Tori-no-ichi twice At this event, There'll be 60-odd stalls selling decorative kumade rakes, said to bring good fortune for business, plus 200 other vendors hawking food and other festival knickknacks. The second festival, known as Ni no Tori, is on November 20. Don't miss this annual favourite, the roots of which reach back deep into the Edo era.

新宿の歌舞伎町の繁華街から少しはずれた新宿５丁目付近にこの神社はある。昔からたまにこの神社を訪れていたのだが、久しぶりに訪れてみた。新宿総鎮守として江戸時代に内藤新宿が開かれて以来の、街の守り神として祀られている。また敷地内では各種劇団による催し物などが定期的に開かれ、新宿の街の文化の一翼も担っている事でも知られている。朱塗りの鮮やかな社殿は、参拝客の他、休憩場所や待ち合わせ場所として使われ、当社に人影が途絶える事がない。
