CHEAPEST Way to TRAVEL from Kyoto to Osaka by Train | Japanese Travel Vlog
There’s a reason why the Asian island nation of Japan is such a popular tourist destination. It’s incredible in every sense of the word. The country is safe, clean, organized, and efficient despite its massive population. The food is out of this world and the culture is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. And depending on where you go, you can find yourself surrounded by hyper-futuristic technology and neon lights, traditional temples and thousand-year-old buildings, pristine natural environments, and just about everything in-between. After spending two amazing days in Kyoto, it was already time for me to leave. And while I wish I’d had more time to explore more of this beautiful and traditional city, there was a lot more to come on my trip through Japan, so I was also excited to arrive in my next city. Come along with me as I show you the cheapest way to travel from Kyoto to Osaka by train!
Kyoto and Osaka are very close to each other, and I was able to get a train ticket to Osaka for only 560 Yen, or $5.03 U.S. After buying it, I had to get to track 60 at Kyoto Station and make my way through the crowd to get onboard. Once onboard my train, I had to stay very quiet; in Japanese etiquette, it’s considered rude to talk loudly on public transportation. Always learn the etiquette and culture before traveling to a new country. No one wants to be that one rude, uninformed tourist!
After a smooth, 40-minute ride, I arrived in Osaka! My next order of business was finding out how to get to Dotonbori, the most popular area of the city and the place where I’d be staying. As I attempted to find my way to my next train, I made my way through huge crowds and passed lots of shops and restaurants. The walk to my platform was long, but I was able to save money by taking a train (230 Yen/$2.07 U.S.) instead of a taxi to my Airbnb; a taxi would have cost more than ten times that!
Four stops and six minutes later, I was where I needed to be. I passed by more restaurants and shops on my way out. These big, Japanese train stations are like cities in and of themselves! They’re so busy and there are so many things to see and do there. After exiting the station, I asked for directions to my Airbnb—never be afraid to ask for directions if you don’t know where to go—and set off to the place I’d call home for the next couple of days.
It took me a while to figure out how to get the key, used it to get to the elevator, and took it up to my unit, 1304. From my balcony, I had some incredible views of Osaka!
What a fun but intense journey! As you can see, traveling from Kyoto to Osaka is very easy and can be extremely inexpensive if you make the right choices. I hope this helps you out if you’re traveling through Japan on a budget! Speaking of travel experiences, I wasn’t content to stay in my Airbnb for the rest of the night. Instead, I headed out to explore the amazing world of Dotonbori street food…but that’s for another video!

VISITING THE TWO BEST TEMPLES IN KYOTO | Japan vlog #10
Kyoto is hands down my favorite city that I've visited in Japan. If you love crazy night life with lots of drinking and partying. It has it. If you would rather enjoy a peaceful walk and visit a bunch of temples and drink tea, Kyoto is the best place for it.
In this vlog, we start the day off at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, then head over to the Higashiyama and Kiyomizudera Temple area. I absolutely love visiting these two places, but there's LOTS of tourists here so try to come early to beat the crowds. Higashiyama has lots of shops to check out as well!

I am the luckiest kid in the world. I got to go with my town on a three day tour of Japan's ancient capital, Kyoto, and the neighboring and equally ancient Nara. We went and payed respects at many Buddhist temples, and I got to witness first hand the inner workings of Buddhism.
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove tour in Kyoto, Japan + AMAZING Sushi
Our Arashiyama Bamboo Grove tour in Kyoto, Japan was a wonderful experience just outside the center of Japan's once capital and is definitely on of the top things to do in Kyoto. Located about 30 minutes from the center of Kyoto by car, Arashiyama is an area of peace and tranquility - it's the quintessential Zen escape from the hustle and bustle of Japanese city life. A lot of people also call it the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest (嵐山, 京都市).
The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove forms part of the 3 pillars of must sees and dos when in Kyoto: the Fushimi-Inari-Taisha Shrine, the Kinkaku-hi (golden) temple and Arashiyama. It's quite simply a must, and a must that you will undoubtedly enjoy. Located in the mountains surrounding Japan's ancient capital, there is something cool and mystical about the place. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's because Zen buddhism has a history here, but there's just simply a feeling about the place. Then again, this was one of our earliest encounters with Japanese culture and history and as such probably left a deep impression on all of us.
After that we visited the Tenryu-ji (天龍寺, Tenryūji) temple. PLEASE NOTE, there is a mistake in the video and the place after Arashiyama is in fact Tenryu-ji. This Zen buddhist temple was built in 1339 by Shogun Ashikaga Takauji. Not unlike other Japanese landmarks, the temple was damaged by fire multiple time since then. Most of today's structure dates back to the Meiji Era (1868-1912).
Adjacent the Tenryu-ji temple is the Tenryu-ji garden. Created by This is a marvel of Japanese gardens. Created by Muso Soseki, this is a marvel and hallmark of Japanese gardens. The beauty, the simplicity, the way nature is perfected by the hand of Man is an awe-inspiring experience, even if an introspective one. I realized after walking through this garden that Japanese gardens are not just gardens, they are a philosophy of life.
After visiting Arashiyama, we ate at an AMAZING sushi restaurant, whose name I unfortunately forget! If you've never had sushi in Japan, it's really different! And Kyoto is also known as the birthplace of sushi, although back in the day the fish was fermented or marinated.
