China's Ice City Harbin 2019
China's northern ice city of Harbin has built its tourism sector into a 10-billion-U.S. dollar-level industry, with its renown as one of the country's top winter destinations continuing to draw in huge numbers of visitors.
As the capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Harbin has been making good use of its ecological resources including ice and snow, and forests and wetlands, in an effort to build itself into a top-notch, all-season tourist location, while also being a popular international tourist attraction in winter.
Tourism became Harbin's second 10-billion-U.S. dollar-level industry in 2016. The city received more than 77.12 million tourists in 2017 and made a total revenue of over 117 billion yuan (around 17 billion U.S dollars).
It has gained international attention for its increasingly popular winter extravaganza, the International Ice and Snow Festival, which features elaborate ice sculptures, competitions and a plethora of winter sports.
Every winter, visitors from home and overseas flock to Harbin, increasing consumption, creating jobs and greatly stimulating the local economy.
Diverse winter activities have been appearing since Harbin held its first ice lantern fair in 1963, with the first ice and snow festival following in 1985.
The Harbin Ice and Snow World, a theme park with snow sceneries and magnificent ice sculptures, was built by the local government in 1999 to welcome in the new millennium.
Covering an area of 800,000 square meters, the park has helped advance ice and snow art in China into a major stage which features elaborate modern designs and mechanization, and continues to impress visitors from all around the world.

More foreign tourists visiting Unit 731 ruins in NE China
A site that was used by Unit 731, a Japanese military unit that conducted illegal experiments on human subjects during World War II, has become a popular tourist destination.
Foreign tourists in particular have visited the site, located in northeast China's city of Harbin, in greater number this year. Many of the tourists have expressed shock and anger at the atrocities committed by the unit.
Harbin Vlog: Snow & Ice Festivals!
January 10-11, 2015
instagram.com/timandglo
While we were in northeastern China, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to travel to Harbin for their world famous annual ice and snow festivals! The fast train can get from Shenyang to Harbin in just three hours. We decided to stay just one night because we knew it would be much colder in Harbin. Fortunately, an overnight trip allows plenty of time to see both festivals, which are in locations about 3 km apart.
We were advised to see the snow festival - ironically located at Sun Island - during the day then head over to the ice festival at night. This was sound advice, which we followed. It should be noted that the snow festival is also worth seeing after sundown; it also utilizes mood lighting to highlight the snow sculptures. But we physically could not stay at Sun Island after sunset because there were no warming stations. We tried going indoors for some hot chocolate and instant wontons, but the shops are ad hoc and do not have good heating.
We took a shared taxi to the site of the ice festival. We have never seen so many enormous - castle size - ice sculptures or such a fantastic use of colored lights! No one can do it like the Chinese can.
We should not that the cost of admissions for both festivals was expensive: 240 RMB/person for the snow festival and 300 RMB/person for the ice festival.
If you have some extra time in Harbin, a visit to St. Sofia Church/Cathedral is highly recommended. This is something we missed.
Also, don't forget face masks to protect against pollution and for added warmth. We each wore two layers on the bottom and 3-4 layers on top. If you find yourself short on winter warmies, check out Uniqlo, which sells an excellent range of fleece-lined and heat tech clothing every winter. In addition, we got good use out of hand warmers that our friends gave us. Apparently you can also get toe warmers and even electric socks in China!
Stay warm! And happy travels!!
Thank you for watching!

Two Siberian tigers relocated to special zone in Baekdusan Mountain Range
100여년 만에 백두대간 품으로 돌아온 '백두산 호랑이'
Two endangered Siberian tigers have been relocated to a special forested zone within the Baekdusan Mountain Range in Korea's eastern Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
The Korea Forest Service says the 15-year-old and eleven-year-old males were originally donated by China, and had been kept at facilities in nearby cities.
It marks the first time in nearly one-hundred years for Siberian tigers, which are also called Mount Baekdu tigers, to be released in a forest in Korea.
Female tigers will be brought in as early as April with an eye towards breeding more tigers in the area.
Officials say the public will be allowed to view the tigers once they've become accustomed to their new surroundings.

Crossing Gaoligonshan National Park - Yunnan - China - part 2.mpg
A trip was filmed by Mr. Willem Quist, Dutch advisor on National Park Management and community forestry, while crossing Gaoligonshan mountainrange by taking the old silk road that connects Tenchong and Bawan in Yunnan Province of China. On top of the mountainrange lies the Gaoligiongshan National Park. The team studied the biodiversity, discussed management planning and decision taking, patrolling and poaching; tourism aspects and community developement.
Mr. Willem Quist worked for the sino-dutch Forest Conservation and Community Development project (FCCDP) in Yunnan province (1998-2001) with main objective to design and test a system of Integrated National Park Management (INRM) that is internationally recognised and suitable for all national parks in the whole of China. The project was a success and nowadays all national parks in China follow this sino-dutch model in their management.

Quê hương Mãn Châu ⛄ HẮC LONG GIANG
Làng tuyết trắng Tuyết hương (Zhong Guo Xue Xiang) nằm cách Cáp Nhĩ Tân – thủ phủ của tỉnh Hắc Long Giang 280km.
Ngay lập tức, một vài bộ phim truyền hình, điện ảnh khá nổi tiếng đã được quay ở đây như She's My Ex-wife, Cool In Summer And Warm In Winter, Winter Of The Wacky King, Heilong Town And The Snowstorm…
