Hatley Castle, Colwood, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada by RSamson
Built as a 40 room residence in 1906 by B.C.'s Lieutenant Governer, Hatley Castle was named a Canadian Historical Site in 1995.
Featuring Japanese, Rose and Italian Gardens the incredible landscape surrounding the castle employed 100 gardeners and landscapers on a full time daily basis.
It was purchased by the Canadian Government in 1939 and buildings were added to be used as a Military College until 1995 when the castle was leased to the Province of B.C.
Today the College buildings are a public, degree earning University and the Castle proper is a museum and a National Historic Site.

A look around Hatley Park - the little Canadian
The little Canadian stops off and checks out Hatley Castle. There's a lot to look at as well as peacocks and Canadian geese to meet. We mistook a gravel garden area for a path and this little toddler thought it was hilarious. This mansion is over one hundred years old and has been used as a location for many movies and television shows including X-men, Smallville, Deadpool, Descendants, Arrow and more! This little Canadian had a fun time exploring the grounds.

#VictoriaBC #HatleyCastle #XMenMovies #Vlog
Time to head out for another vlog. This time we are at my favourite location for wedding photos, as well any sort of fun photos or videos where you want that rustic, vintage look.
Countless movies are still filmed here on a regular basis, including all of the X-Men movies.
Here is a link to most of the movies filmed here:
Just decided to share my issue right now of constantly switching back and forth with the iPhone X, and back to my Canon t3i for 24p. The only reason I switch and don't stick with the iPhone is the yellow/orange glow in the sun that I cant seem to get rid of in post. I have tried countless colour grades, and I only turns glowy white. This doesn't happen with my other camera.
So I am purchasing a Canon M50 very soon.
I plan on learning a lot this summer, travelling, RVing, vlogging, and of course, I really want to focus on my photography. So there will be lots of that. I have a lot to learn with #Aftereffects and #dronePhotography.
Up next: No matter who you are or what you are vlogging about, its important to stay healthy. Get lots of sleep, exercise and eat well. There are so many benefits to this for you and your video production...I will explain later, so stay tuned.

Japanese Garden Hatley Castle #Victoria BC Vancouver Island
The Upper Japanese Garden was the first garden constructed circa 1908-9 at Hatley Park and was designed by Isaburo Kishida, a Japanese designer. This garden, bordered by a lake on one side and bisected by streams is an oasis of calm. Japanese Maples and flowering cherries imported from Yokohama Nurseries in 1909 have now reached a venerable age, and under plantings of azaleas and primroses light up the pathways in April and May. Rustic stone lanterns almost concealed by foliage peer out as you make your way through the garden.
The second part of the Japanese Garden was made some time between 1916 and 1919 by an unknown designer. It surrounds a lake and is planted with snowy Shirotae flowering cherries on the West Side and towering Pink Pearl Rhododendrons on the South. A narrow path tracing the shore of the lake leads to a an elegant curved bridge. Across the bridge is an island planted with 100 year old Rhodos and a pavilion extending over the water. Standing on this pavilion, watch for trout leaping from the water and the raucous cry of Kingfishers as they fly across the lake.
