These male Australian Figbirds (Specotheres vieilloti) were filmed in late July 2017 in a popular recreation area, Hawthorne Canal Reserve (Leichhardt and Haberfield border, Sydney, NSW).

The Canal,formerly known as Long Cove Creek, a concrete stormwater drain, artificial waterway in the inner-western Sydney suburbs of Lewisham, Summer Hill, Haberfield, and Leichhardt in New South Wales, Australia. The canal flows into Iron Cove,then into Parramatta River, before connecting with Port Jackson. The canal was originally a natural waterway that has been straightened and given artificial banks. 0:40 Parking very close to Hawthorne stop across canal at corner Hawthorne Pd. and Turner Ave.

WEEKEND PARKING
Park at local City Rail station and take train to CENTRAL STATION.
Sydney Light rail is a commuter tram service without dedicated parking facilities at ANY STATION. Even at Dulwich Hill stop, very limited parking is shared with heavy rail patrons.
Leichhardt Market Place comes to the rescue. With ample parking space and only some 500m from centre front door to Marion Tram Stop along Marion Street.

The Hawthorne Canal, a southern tributary of the Parramatta River, is an heritage–listed artificial waterway located in the western reaches of Sydney Harbour, in the inner–western Sydney suburbs of Lewisham, Summer Hill, Haberfield, and Leichhardt in New South Wales, Australia.
Hawthorne Canal and Iron Cove Creek are two significant tributaries that flow into Iron Cove, where it flows into Parramatta River, before connecting with Port Jackson. The canal was originally a natural waterway known as Long Cove Creek, that has been straightened and given artificial banks.

Spring Cycle 2011 - Log jam at the Hawthorne Canal

The ride should have turned left at the Hawthorne Canal and used the new bike bridge. Instead it met some sort of running race also wanting to use the right hand hairpin bend down to the bike track below.
